100 Day Pull-up/Push Up Challenge!!! Join Me Starting Friday Dec 16th!!!

Heading to knock mine out it a moment.
 
8, going out to do um in the cold now!

Yeah, if I don't knock mine out at work or the gym I hit up the playground here in my housing complex and hang from the bridge thing. So I am sure I'll be out in the cold throughout this. Especially at the higher numbers when I have to break them up throughout the day.
 
I'm late but I'm in. Did 76 pushups in a row today to see where I'm at physically. I could only do about 15 pull ups. Fail lol
 
26 pullups and 26 pushups today (Friday.) I better get this consistency dialed in soon or I may be in a heap of trouble this time next week. Pullups today were 30 regular, 16 w/ 45lb plate, 12 w/ 25lb plate, and 5 dead hang pullups (4 second.) Back day is the best day ever!!

Well stick this out and let's see if we can't fix that. Too be honest starting out I was around 12-15. Last time I did this I started out around 20 as my max. My highest max ever was about 30 or so. I intend to get back up there.

Consistency man. The only way to finish this. Especially if you want to make it a straight shot through to 100

15 aint bad I've really tried to work on my back the last couple years and I only do between 15 and 20 on a max set.

Just skyped with some close friends and their kids who live in Japan a little bit ago. They were able to open our gifts with us. Gotta love skype. I do miss Japan and the Mrs would love for me to be stationed there. Where abouts are you?

Fukuoka. I'm a teacher though. Not in the service. :)

I'll be moving back home to Hawaii in July though.

Yeah, I remember catching the teacher part. Thats cool. So your what? A bit north east of nagasaki? I do love Japan, had a great time there.

The good friends we were skying with are in Iwakuni. I spent most of my time on Okinawa, Gotemba (Fuji) or all over Tokyo.

Well, DC is that cold so I feel ya. Yes I got your PM. Mulling over how I'll answer ya is all. I'd like to not steer you wrong you know. Particularly in regards to the Deca. Thats one of our products that I have not personally run yet. Though it's close on the horizon..lol

Today is done and done
 
Day 9 pullups and pushups were completed. The rack in my basement was ice cold metal and my hands were still raw from pullups and rows yesterday. Still managed 9 without coming off bar...my hands will adjust to the daily pulling exercises. It's one of those things that only happens on pulling movements (back day.) Never during presses (chest,) or other lifts.

inb4 'tampon for hands jokes.' Jerks. I can still do more than you. :rofl:

I done 33 the other day playing catch up. Now i've got 42 to do tomorrow morning. fml.
 
I've lost it completely. I was unable to do it day-by-day because of the holiday and family. I'll start over after the first and try for the 100 days uninterrupted. I really want to complete this challenge.

Well, calisthenics are part of fitness and health and are important over all. In regards to size directly you won't gain too much as you are limited. Though indirectly they can play an important role in keeping your joints, tendons, ligaments, cardiovascular system healthy helping to improve on flexibility, range of motion, muscular endurance etc, which can all help in lifting.

Crossfit does a lot of body weight exercises yes, but they do more than that. They incorporate gymnastic movements, power lifting, olympic lifts and such. In general they focus on the ten recognized fitness domains. They are Cardiovascular and Respiratory endurance, Stamina, Strength, Flexibility, Power, Speed, Coordination, Agility, Balance, and Accuracy.

In general Crossfit is a core strength and conditioning program. Is it for everyone? Nope. Is it the program of choice for body builders? Nope. Though I have seen body builders who have incorporated crossfit into their training before. One of the reasons why crossfit is so popular in the military, among special forces, cops, firefighters and such is because of their needs and goals, which can very greatly than that of a body builder obviously. I mean on the stage no one is fireman carrying their buddy out of a fire fight, climbing over walls, hiking more than their body weight for 10+ miles, swimming into an insertion, and jumping out of planes. As well, it is not sport specific either. Anyone pursuing a specific sport would need to add sport specific training on top of the general strength and conditioning.

You can get bigger and you can get stronger, but one needs to realize the purpose. I'm always wary now a days explaining or discussing crossfit on here at AM because almost inevitably it turns into some kind of argument... it sucks, this is better, and on and on. People are either for it or not and I have yet to see anyone switch sides of the fence on here lol. I like it, I see its value, and have gained from its benefits. I like being big too, but straight bodybuilding wouldn't have gotten me through BRC, combat dive etc.
 
Right. They both have their place copy cat.

Personally I think body weight exercises will more or less tone you and get you fit.

Weights obviously to gain size if that's your goal...
 
Here is a video for you. It's a little long and yes the two guys it follows are two of Crossfits best, and it is of them training for the crossfit games so their regimen is pretty ramped up, but it'll give you a good idea. Also, the 2nd link below leads to info on the competitors of this years crossfit games. Sure these are some of the best crossfit has to offer, but not everyone on thse boards are professional body builders and at the level of the pros either, but that doesn't stop anyone from doing what they do, training like they do, or in general trying to acheive what they have. Though, I think you'll see that when you look at their lifts and compare that against their speed and metabloic conditioning that they are pretty damn strong and are athletes. Something is working.

Day 12 done. Felt so weird yesterday doing pullups before legs and pushups after.

I always do three rounds of dynamic warm ups before lifting and push ups n pull ups are part of them so at these lower number days I just try and do them broken up in those three rounds. At the higher days. I'll be spreading them out all day long.

Crossfit is good so long as they use periods of overtraining and underreaching. Look at how big John welbourne is... That guy is my hero.
 
I have all mine in up to date, just been too busy with the holidays to post...

I dont have todays done however... been sick pukin and poopin for most the last 24 hours...

Wait I'm confused... Are you saying they need to overtrain and under reach, or we're you being sarcastic? Like anything else if you follow a good program that won't happen. I don't know who John welbourne is. I'll have to look him up.
