What do you people think about Vista?. I have heard good and bad. I am not going to upgrade at least for another year or two to see how things play out. I think there will be plenty of problems with it since it was rushed to market, but hey its Microsoft right?. Its such a big O.S. it has to be distributed on DVD instead of CD like previous OS. A lot of the changes are visual. Its a lot prettier!. Also there just is not a lot of vista drivers out there, neither is there a lot of software compatible. Another thing is the minimum requirements are pretty hefty....

Definitely curious.

I ran the beta a few months back and liked some of the new features, I didnt turn Aero on though, so I am waiting to test that out when I get a free moment. I'm happy with Windows XP though and will stick with that for a while.

It's only a matter of time. This is a windows dominated world. I'll probably be an earlier adopter, but it's only a matter of time for the rest

I will most likely install it because I want to get in on it early and check under the hood, but it will be on a multi-boot system. I will keep XP until there is a larger turnover (hardware, software, etc.) to Vista.

I've been using vista since July, and honestly there's no reason to switch to it from Windows XP. I've only found lots of driver problems and just a bunch of hassle.

The update I really appreciated was the new Microsoft Office 2007 products being a student, which are a huge improvement. But Vista, nah just stick with XP.

maybe one day i'll actually partition my macbook pro and put vista on it, its supposed to be similar for the most part to osx, but im going to wait till all my audio hardware is ported over and all my drivers are updated.

Everything I've read says it runs like a dog. You need a 3.4ghz or higher with at least 1G of RAM just to have it run normally.

YEa it sounds pretty worthless. I will keep XP as long as possible.

Another vote for Mac OS X. I'll keep telling myself I'll stick Windows on my Macbook but haven't yet. I think Vista will probably be a worthwhile upgrade over XP for those who use it, though.

Security is outstanding for now at least...DRM crap is just that. Wait untill you see the system load to run HD Content...
Oem can not be moved from the installed system. So upgraders beware. And Retail can only be moved once for now.

Closed-source proprietary systems suck. I am forced to use XP for a portion of my business, but use mac OSX for everything else. You can beat the BSD kernel.

Yeah, that blows beyond comprehension. There is no way this will be a viable model for Mr Softie. Another reason to avoid the company.

I would need a new video card and zone alarm(firewall),nod(virus protection)and alot of other programs I have will not work with vista.

Same, besides Leopard will blow it out of the water. You could even argue Intel Mac's with Tiger are better.

MAC OS the most copied OS on the planet.most reveiws i have seen of vista say you will be happy with it but better off with a mac

I ran Microsoft's free Upgrade Advisor.Invalid Link Removed
and it listed Nod would not work.

Thats not correct. The newest version is compatible with Vista. Download the latest version and they run upgrade advisor again. If it still says it won't work, its probally wrong. We are talking about Microsoft here, so nothing is cut and dry...

Thanks I will do that.

It seems Bill knows his market isn`t expanding anymore...so squeeze what you have :smite:

I have CA Internet Security Suite 2007 on my Laptop. On Amazon it has really poor reviews, but I have to run the software for myself...I can't always trust those reviews. Anyway I really like it and have had no problems with it all, does not slow down my pc a bit...Its not Vista Compatible yet but there will be an update at the end of March...I still don't think its worth it to Upgrade to Vista yet.
