Forgive my ignorance here, but do you wear your watch all night or an aura ring or something to gather the readiness score or how does that work. Just curious, how it knows how ready for the day you are.
This right here is such a true statement, I was super MOTIVATED for my contest, and that created a level of consistency that created a dogmatic level of discipline to the point that just following the nutrition plan to a T was automatic. After that final contest when I was told to take 4-6 weeks off, eat like a normal human, let my body recover, and heal. Which all made perfect sense at the time, but in that 6 weeks my discipline dropped like a rock!!! It might have been the right call for others, but for me, I should have still had plenty of structure during that time. I should have been training lightly during that time, and stuck to the structure that had given me a lot of success.
It is so much easier to just maintain the discipline than it is to rebuild it, especially to the level required to even resemble greatness. People with excellent discipline have always fascinated me. For some it appears that existence is impossible without it, and not being super disciplined actually bothers them. (If the idea of a day off from the gym, your diet, or daily regiment bothers you, this is probably you.) Me I am the opposite, I am so distracted I often don't even realize I should be doing something else until I am frustrated with myself that I forgot to or put off doing something until it was too late. What is wild is even though I know an enforced structure of some sort is excellent for me, it intimidates the living crap out of me to commit too because I don't like going back on my word, but I don't trust myself not to false start, make a bunch of claims and then feel like a failure if I miss them. So I have to be pretty motivated to be ready to commit to something externally. I used to promise myself and others I would do all of these grandiose plans, and then let them and myself down. For some that would translate to "just be more disciplined" but for it translated to "Don't make the promise if you aren't pretty damn sure you are going to fulfill it!" That and the fear of letting others down just means less progress for me because I am the one not committing to things out of a fear of failure.
Now how's that for unpacking some baggage! Who knew this was going to be a therapy thread this morning. LOL Maybe I shouldn't be online when still a lil ill.
Anyway sorry for the word vomit and hijack here... I was just struck by this because it really elucidated the fact that this isn't just me, and while it varies a bit for everyone we are all somewhere on this spectrum, and feel the challenge of maintaining and building discipline. This is a great reminder of how the Get Done, gets' DONE!
