Jimothy's Back (and worse than ever)

I love those GTO's. They also took me down the rabbit hole of G8 GXP. those and the CST V Wagons are pretty rare, exceptionally rare in a manual. I'd happily take a 2005 GTO today (or any year, but I like the LS). But its mind blowing how cars like the V Wagon, GXP manual, and even the Chevy SS have held their value and even gained value for being only like 15 year old cars.
Yeah I was pricing all 3 of those specifically when I realized coupes were out, then realized these were all priced out essentially.

35-40k for a good condition 6spd G8 GXP still 😭

dude I know its wild. and its usually 10-20% higher in WA so my buddy and i would often check "nation wide" in searches!! I'm at a point where i think sedans are better for me... I never got pulled over in the V lol.

I'm thinking about bringing the motorcycle up here now, too. If I'm paying for a parking space anyway, might just see about parking both together lol.

Right now it's sitting in my mom's garage back in Houston. Not super useful all the way out there.

But also have concerns about being on a bike in NYC. Would really only use it to escape the city on weekends, but gotta ride through at least part of the city to get out of it, and people drive like fucking madmen out here.
What kind of bike do you ride?

Slept just over 8 hours last night, which is a crazy amount for me. Don't even typically get that on weekends.

Feeling a little lethargic this morning because of the longer sleep (my body runs best on about 6-6.5). Gonna knock out some fasted cardio around lunchtime and then start getting some food in me.

Assuming my new job gives me the type of WLB that I'm expecting it to, I'm bouncing around the idea of signing up for a show in like Q3 or Q4 of next year.

Never really saw myself as a guy who'd get on stage and flex in front of strangers, but seems like it could be a fun challenge and really give me a training target to aim for.

the fact that WLB is an acronym and that I recognized it, is somewhat alarming 😂

if you have a spark of fire in your belly to go after competition of any way, your life in my opinion, can only be improved by chasing it. even if its only a one time thing, you won't look back on it with regret.

Gonna run it by the ol' coaching team and see what they think about the idea. Seems like it could be fun, and honestly miss having a specific training target like I did when I was training for powerlifting meets.

Might still want to dive back into that some day, too, but need to figure out these joint issues before I do something like that again.

Also, prepurchase inspection results came back on a 1972 Skylark (GS455 tribute) I'm eyeing, and seems like that may be the one for me. Will just depend on if we can agree on a price.

IMO thats a legit car guy car. I see a lot of garbo imports that people buy around here just to look fancy but you can always tell the real ones that actually know what they want because they know cars.

Nice…. I love the old Skylarks and Chevelles.😎👍

I used to have an old 72 Skylark GS with a 350 and powerglide transmission, and a 72 Chevelle with the 350 pretty much the same car but I loved both of them. Of course the skylark was cammed, high rise intake, and holley 4 barrel. It may not have been the big block but it was BIG FUN!

I will almost certainly end up camming the **** out of the 455. Will probably ultimately play around with the headers/exhaust and other bolt on style performance upgrades, but figure the 455 ought to be pretty fun out of the box and leaves a lot of room to build a monster.

Maybe I'll even have it stroked at some point, but that would be further off into the future.

Yeah the 455s have big torque right out of the gate…you put a big cam in it and have that engine stroked, it will really be a beast then.👍
