I have no problem going to sleep. I'm out like a light almost every night. But the problem is I can't stay asleep. I minimally wake up 2x a night and piss. I actually sleep better when I'm sick because I take Tylenol PM or Advil PM. I normally only wake up once when I take these. I know it's probably not a good idea to take these on a regular basis.

I'm just tired of feeling like crap when I wake up every morning. I know my days could be so much better if my sleep quality improved. Do you think some time release Melatonin is all I need? Now makes a cheaper supplement called Sleep. Then there's the heavy hitter Chaos and Pain Hypnos. Any suggestions?

Helios 100 by Apex-Alchemy can reduce prostate inflammation, and thereby reduce the need to get up in the middle of the night to urinate IMO (besides it's other benefits).

I am an Apex-Alchemy Representative, but the truth is.... Helios100 is currently my most used supplement of Any kind.

Not a supplement suggestion, but you may be suffering from sleep apnea. No supplement will help if you do. Look into getting a sleep study done. Could change your life for the better.
there are pretty good at home pulse oxymeters that should be able to detect apnea too. got my GF the Garmin vivosmart 4. seems to work pretty good for her, but there's the regular finger ones too

Only benzos and Phenibut really work for me, but those can't be used frequently, due to quick tolerance build up and withdrawal symptoms. I allow myself to use Phenibut maximum of twice a week, when having a bad period, and try to stay away from the benzos all together. But for something effective to use not too often, Phenibut is great.

In theory high cortisol can make falling asleep difficult and low cortisol can wake you up during the night. But by several anecdotal reports, b-aet (that lowers cortisol) has helped people sleep better, wether it has been helping with falling asleep or staying asleep. It's offered in TD form and some popular products are: Apex AET-50, IL Invictus and XPG Suppress-C.

Most commonly reported effect of BLR Androgin seems to be improved sleep. It could be worth a try solely for sleep enhancement.

Most of the supps for sleep improvement are mildly sedating and more suited for helping in falling asleep. Some decent ones are L-Theanine, Valerian, Passion Flower, gaba, kava.

I don't get any benefit from melatonin myself. Only gives me nightmares and no benefits.

You could try drinking less in the latter part of day, if you need to go piss 2 x a night.

Have you excluded the possibility of having sleep apnea? It's pretty common.

I've never looked into sleep apnea. I have been like this most of my life but it has only really started to bother me the last 10 years with kids.

Sleep Assist XT puts me down through the night. I only take 1-2 caps myself and it does the trick.

Ashwaghanda also helps me sleep better.

Half a tab benadryl will also help but it will dry you out and have to pee more. I also notice my mood is off the following day from it though.

Totally forgot SNS had Sleep Assist XT. Really like this company. I'm also eyeing Kaged Muscle Sleep SR.

Last night I got less sleep but it was higher quality sleep. I feel just less crappy today.

Asleep by 10
Piss at 1:30
Piss at 5:20
Not sure if I went back to sleep

So I got over 7 hours of better quality sleep and feel a little better. This is a rarity.

Also, I had a brief conversation with my latest doctor several years ago about my sleep habits. He said "I guess that's just you". The only advice he offered me was to drink less in the evening - well no shi!t buddy!

I appreciate everyone's feedback!

do you pee a lot during the day? like the other person that it could be an enlarged prostate. Helios 100 circumin lower abdomen applications helps some people with this. otherwise maybe you could try an oral. it's called BPH technically if you wanna look into it on your own or bother a doctor more

I pee a lot during the day but I also drink a lot during the day. So who knows. Maybe I'll ask when I find a new doctor later this year.

Sleep Assist XT works great for me, also Man REM. Only thing better is THC, problem you have to take it about 6hrs before bed, not an everyday option for most.

Sleep Assist XT is honestly hard to beat. I have the exact same issue as you - I can go to sleep no problem but normally would wake up multiple times per night. I rarely wake up at all during the night when I take Sleep Assist XT.

We dosed it so you can adjust the dose for your individual needs. You can take up to 4 but I only need 1 if I'm sleeping 4 to 6 hours or take 2 if sleeping 6 to 8 hours which is rare for me.

The product works better than we even anticipated. The way we dosed it is take 1 to 4 caps but I don't know of hardly anyone that's used 4 caps.

Sleep apnea is something that a lot of people have and miss so its definitely worth mentioning to your doctor.

There are at home tests for it but they often aren't that accurate. Two of the people that work here have sleep apnea and they can't speak highly enough about how much better they feel during the day now that they get treatment for it.

I don't think that would be why you wake up at night but may be contributing to you feeling bad the next day.

I'd definitely say try Sleep Assist XT first but if that doesn't completely help, I'd mention wanted to get checked for sleep apnea to your doctor next time you see them. Couldn't hurt.

Get checked for apnea first and foremost. Personally, I would look for a new dr based on the one account you have given of his style of "practice." I have sleep apnea and have on average 20 arousals per hour but only "wake" 2-4 times. This means every three minutes(on average) I suffocate without "waking up" so don't use full-blown waking up as a metric.

If you have it keep trying masks until you find the right one. There are probably 50-100 options these days so don't do what many do and give up after trying one or two options. If needed use sleep meds for a few days to get used to it. I wore mine while watching tv to acclimate.

There are several things I don't like about my doctor. I'm mad at myself for sticking with him for so long. I WILL be getting a new doctor this year for my next physical.

+1 to Beau's suggestion. Taurine and magnesium are great. Ashwagandha sensoril version is great too but would try in the morning as it can give you an energy burst. It is great for killing any anxiousness and helps if you suffer from anxiety dreams.

5-htp another one to consider which is great for dieting, but can also help sleep.

Here is the pre-bed stack I am currently using:
3.5 Gr AAKG
500 Mg L-Theanine
675 Gr Ashwagandha
2.0 Gr Taurine
5.0 Gr Glutamine
2.0 Gr Inositol
500 Mg Magnesium

Cool, I'm really glad that you like it. Your dosage there is pretty much the same as mine with the 2 caps for that sleep range.

Can you build a tolerance to melatonin? Should it only be used a few times a week? Also, what about for GABA?

Melatonin is a hormone that occurs naturally in your body and declines with age. When supplementing with it at reasonable doses, you're really just trying to boost the levels back to where they would have been when you were younger or where they would be in an ideal circumstance. So no, at a reasonable dosage there shouldn't be a tolerance with it.

Same for GABA - there is generally no tolerance to it at a reasonable dose. GABA is one of the most popular overall stress and anxiety ingredients on the market on the general health side of things.

I meant to ask this earlier in the thread but forgot.

If anyone posting that they like Sleep Assist XT has time and wouldn't mind, I would appreciate it if you would post some feedback in the Sleep Assist XT thread.

We have a lot of great feedback but there hasn't been much in the thread itself so that might help other s know how great of a product it is.

I really appreciate it.

I will be off when I die and if I get off sooner I will be dying sooner. Simple as that. I am currently 45lbs lighter and smaller now and it has made zero difference. If you are having a couple of arousals per hour and are significantly overweight MAYBE a person can get off but in reality most that really need it simply need it for life and often times its simply anatomy within the esophagus/trachea region and not necessarily just redundant tissue(which of course does not help.)

That chaos and pain sleep supplement was magic back when I was on osta and couldn’t sleep. Knocked me out better than anything else I’ve tried.

Currently I take those Costco brand sleeping pills, dirt cheap and works pretty well. Give it a try if you haven’t yet.

So I don't think I have sleep apnea. I started wear my Fitbit to bed this week. My oxygen variation has been low all night and my heart rate stays consistent in the 40s. The app though is telling me I get very little deep sleep throughout the night - less than 30 minutes :( I bought some extended release Melatonin 5mg. It happened to be BOGO at Kroger so I figured why not. I've taken it a few times. It doesn't seem to limit me waking up but it might put me in a deeper sleep. I have yet to take the Melatonin and wear my Fitbit on the same night. I'll report back.

Do you know how the app measures the time spent on deep sleep?

From their web site:

Fitbit estimates your sleep stages using a combination of your movement and heart-rate patterns. When you haven’t moved for about an hour, your tracker or watch assumes that you’re asleep. Additional data—such as the length of time your movements are indicative of sleep behavior (such as rolling over, etc.)—help confirm that you’re asleep. While you’re sleeping, your device tracks the beat-to-beat changes in your heart rate, known as heart rate variability (HRV), which fluctuate as you transition between light sleep, deep sleep, and REM sleep stages. When you sync your device in the morning, we use your movement and heart rate patterns to estimate your sleep cycles from the previous night.

Ok 👍 The tracking of movement and wether you're asleep or not is not that difficult to measure, but it would be interesting to hear from a specialist how well these can determine your sleep stages based on HRV measurement. Many times these kind of things work based on decent theory, but aren't really effective in practice (think bioimpedance scales that measure bf% for example). I'm not saying the fitbit isn't capable of accurately measuring the amounts of different sleep stages, cause' I don't have the expertise to evaluate that. All I'm thinking is it might not be capable of doing that.

Based on how I feel every morning, it seems like I don't get the deep sleep I need.

iconic Neuro melatonin still working great for me. I think getting my nutrition and vitamins dialed in made a big difference. I remember the first day I injected vitamin D I slept so good. if you look into some natural test boosters they are vitamin D, zinc, magnesium, b6. they are all meant to make you sleep better and in turn make more testosterone.

And I would give your perception of how you've slept and how rested and energized you feel more value, than to basic external measuring devices.

I took Tylenol PM last night because I thought I was coming down with something. I got a whopping 1 hr 23 min of deep sleep, total 8 hrs. I still pissed 2x but the waking up was pushed back to later in the night. I could still feel better upon waking but it's better than how I normally feel.
