I assume he also created a nice chunk of his high paying jobs with his own space programs that wouldnt have existed if he hadnt made a fortune to begin with. When people have accesses they likely take more chances and risks and create more wealth for others rather than having more mediocre jobs.

Being someone who has been poor and even homeless in my life in the past, I always see it as what is it that I could do for myself to be in better position to earn income, but before that came to plans my biggest complain in life was they the hell is life, rent, cost of living so damn high. And that was in the 90s, things are way more expensive and the purchasing power is far less now these days in NY.

MOST people your age could walk into any job without a qualification beyond high school, now they require a PhD to make a burger. If you did need a college degree then you could pay for that by working part time and studying. Nowadays a full time student needs a full time job to afford even just a fraction of their dues. It can't happen obviously, and the debt is astronomical. Even in the 90s you could buy a house for like 3-5x your salary, now at a minimum most places are 20x an average annual salary. My parents bought their first house for like 50k and my dad alone made that in a year lol. My first house cost 600k, and I can tell you now that isn't my annual salary.

i did have a good job because i worked my way up after starting at bottom. but got laid off in 2008 and had to cash in 401k and sold our house to have money to start my business--i could have just sold house and collected unemployment for the next 2-3 years like many did back then...it was a real risk cashing in 401k early, not only did the stock market crash but the penalties were awful-i probably ended up with a 4th of what it was worth in 2007. my whole lifes savings were at risk when i started my business but hard work and hustle paid off again.

If its honest money I really dont care how much they make, but I can agree there are issue's here. For one thing, various areas on the country have the audacity to give Amazon and other major tech companies tax free havens in order to seduce to go to them. Its good for the economy and jobs, but at the same time this isnt a equal playing field for the smaller and middle class business people, its not fair.

The bigs are in the pockets of the policy makers, most changes and regulations are usually in the favor of the big guy although most people think its to help the little guy.

btw-my wife and i were both close to 40 when we bought our 1st house, only to have to sell it in 2008 when the stock market crashed and people from all walks of life were getting laid off. we had saved for many years with both of us working to save up down payment, my wife cried when she found out i had been laid off.

btw-my wife and i were both close to 40 when we bought our 1st house, only to have to sell it in 2008 when the stock market crashed and people from all walks of life were getting laid off. we had saved for many years with both of us working to save up down payment, my wife cried when she found out i had been laid off.

btw-max weekly unemployment back in 2008 was $400 a week...if you make $15 a hour it's $600 a week-which is what bezos pays.

$400 in 2008 is worth $515 now, so Bezos paying less than $100 over unemployment is pretty sad.

My Aunty and Uncle bought their first home before I was born. The mortgage was approx 30k. By the time they sold it they still had money owing because they never had any money to pay off more than the interest.

They sold it a few years ago for 1.5Million. It needed extensive work and was basically demolished.

Who could afford to buy a pile of crap for 1.5Million? The land couldn't even be subdivided.

i said max unemployment, most got much less than that....

life sucks, i had to sell off my lifes savings for a fraction of what it was worth when the market crashed and i got laid off, if i had been able to ride it out i would have been ok.....just like the stock market going back up, i've seen where housing prices are going to drop significantly over next 10 years-my advice to people looking to buy a house is to save up and wait until prices come down....you remember my wife and i were almost 40 when we bought 1st house-many years of saving.
