Wife Has COVID-19

This is the thing. I do feel like it was used to create a political advantage and divide people. All that stuff had nothing to do with a virus being out there, it just got mixed in and somehow Antifa was an idea and it meant you were against people getting sick and dying, and if you were skeptical of lockdowns you must be for cops killing black people...nobody has any nuance to their thoughts anymore. Yeah, I am against cops killing black people. No I am not against cops killing people, regardless of color, who pose an immediate and potentially lethal danger to the cop or other citizens. That's kind of the job.

The issue is most other people in the US argue vehemently that experts should be trusted (insert arguments for global warming here) so they don't want to hear the experts don't know something.

Honestly, the flu thing makes sense though. It shows that avoiding others prevents the spread of disease by almost 97%. And if it worked that well for the flu, just think if it did, in fact, have that effect on Covid as well. The flu being so low is probably the best argument out there for lockdowns. Instead of 600,000 dead...the flu numbers suggest a truly devastating possibility if we hadn't stayed home. Not that 600,000 is such a great thing.

I could get sucked into a big political convo here that belongs in the Trump thread...so I should stop. It's already too late haha

experts are often paid witnesses , you need to look at where the money is coming from., for enough money you can find a paid expert who will testify to almost anything-even under oath...i know pharmaceutical companies are making billions off covid vaccines.

cigarette companies were very good at propaganda, by the 40s scientists had shown that there was clear cut evidence that smoking caused lung cancer, but even into the 60s only one-third of all US doctors believed smoking caused cancer...even in the 70s there was smoking in hospital waiting rooms and many doctors smoked--the cigarette company propaganda campaign even convinced doctors that cigarettes were harmless even though we would think that they should know better-eh?

money buys propaganda, and pharmaceutical companies have lots of it!!!

All you have to do is turn on the tv. Every other ad is asking YOU to ask your Dr about reshdjuushvd, side effects of which may include <yore face melting off>, because it's probably something you should totally be on, but your doc wasn't aware of it.

Justice Department Announces Largest Health Care Fraud Settlement in Its History

Pfizer to Pay $2.3 Billion for Fraudulent Marketing

More:
Protonix
As part of a larger group of proton pump inhibitor lawsuits, Pfizer faced a number of Protonix lawsuits after it acquired drug company Wyeth who had been accused of marketing the drug for unapproved uses. In 2013, Pfizer agreed to pay $55 million to settle illegal marketing claims but the company may still be facing lawsuits for kidney injuries caused by the medication.
Prempro
Nearly 10,000 Prempro lawsuits were filed by women who had been diagnosed with breast cancer. The lawsuits were largely settled by 2012 for about $1 billion.
Chantix
Pfizer faced about 3,000 Chantix lawsuits filed by people who claimed they experienced suicidal thoughts and psychiatric disorders after using Chantix for smoking cessation. Pfizer set aside about $288 million and at least some of the cases were settled.
Depo-Testosterone
Thousands of cases of medical injury due to testosterone replacement therapy have been filed. Other drug companies have paid $ billions to settle their cases, however some Pfizer testosterone lawsuits were dismissed.
Zoloft
About 250 Zoloft lawsuits were filed, claiming Pfizer actively promoted the use of Zoloft to pregnant women despite knowledge of birth defect risks from their research. These cases were largely dismissed in 2016 when a judge concluded that there was not enough evidence to prove a link between birth defects and Zoloft use.
Effexor
Effexor was a medication originally produced by Wyeth which has also been the cause of multiple lawsuits. People who filed Effexor lawsuits claimed that it caused birth defects, and separately, suicidal thoughts and behaviors. In September 2015, Effexor lawsuits were dismissed but may have been eligible to refile.

And don't forget the African children they experimented on.

big pharma are making TRILLIONS off covid vaccines---and they are exempt from both civil AND criminal prosecution--- if vaccines have long term side effects including death you are just **** out of luck.

My daughter's high school sent an email saying they would mandate vaccines for students as soon as the FDA eua's it for kids.

I emailed back (amongst other things):

If my daughter is required to vaccinate to attend PUBLIC school, which I pay for, can I hold the school, and sender of the email, personally responsible if she were to experience negative side effects?

Response:

Err, durr, we are only considering the option now, /intense lateral juke and jive.

Of course the answer is 'no, I cannot' , nor will they stand behind the thing they demand I partake of. It's simple:

If you won't vouch for it, why the **** should I do it? See, the default is 'nothing'. I do nothing. Nothing is normal. They want me to do something outside of the norm, and the onus is on them to convince me why I should. Not order me, force me, or out a gun to my child's head. CONVINCE.

Theyre doing an abysmal job at it.

It's extremely wild to me T that you would cite scientists being aware of certain dangers back in the 40s, and how no one believed them, yet completely contradict the scientists of today who are warning people about the severity this virus. @Ricky10 has been giving first hand accounts of people battling the virus and its dismissed because "all my family members were fine." Just don't get it

And to everyone's point who have been citing sources and studies and etc, each of us can find a study that backs our side of the argument. Its tough to know who's telling the truth nowadays.

That's not what was going on in the 40's. Dr's were hyping cigarettes as a health aid, stress aid and so on. Naysayers were not the norm, and it took decades for them to be heard.

Sounds quite like now.

But again, isn't there some nuance here? We're cigarettes made illegal because doctors warned about it? Are the illegal now?

I am constantly reminded of Ignaz Sammelweis in all of this. The irony that the man who came up with one of the best defenses for covid, was put in an insane asylum because he disagreed with "experts" and now people parrot his advice without even realizing this, while simultaneously telling people to listen to the experts.

The other thing to keep in mind is Richard Feynman's statements, "The sole source of the validity of any idea, is the experiment."

Experts are NOT the source of the validity of any idea. They are distillers of ideas, and hopefully they distill ideas that have some experimental justification (validity).

Not saying you don't have a good point...I always appreciate the irony in stuff. I mean, if you cannot see the humor in something, you probably don't understand it fully.

Absolutely impressed with the people here. That is the problem!

The discussion is often intellectually challenging, and people can throw reasonable pinches without getting upset and you can have a good debate and eventually move on. I wish I could find a group like this in the real world...except I can spend hours on this site if I allow it. Which I am happy to do. I just have other things going on that make me need to be more disciplined....but it is so hard haha

you obviously didn't comprehend the meaning of my post---i was making the point that cigarette companies ran such a good propaganda game that even doctors were fooled by it .....

ok here is another example of a huge company [monsanto] running a propaganda game...the certified state instructor at purdue university 4 years ago when i had to attend classes to get certified for commercial chemical weed spraying was asked and told us that roundup [glyphosate] was safe...here's the kicker-the EPA still says glyphosate is safe, even though monsanto has set aside 10 BILLION DOLLARS for cancer cases....the side effect of cancer may not be seen until several years after exposure-imagine that.

i personally know 2 people who have been disgnosed with lymphoma from roundup and have cases ongoing---fortunately for them monsanto is not exempt from civil liabilities.....incredibly the EPA still says it's safe....

to be fair to everyone in this thread, for every doctor that I've heard tell us how dangerous the virus is, I've heard another say it's not. Even the docs seem split 50/50

i was talking about safety of vaccines....
the point i made about roundup i thought was pertinent since it's been around since 70s and has a government agency seal of approval-EPA

the EPA continues to say 'there are no risks of concern to human health' even though monsanto has set aside 10 BILLION DOLLARS for cancer cases!!!!

anyone who watches tv has probably saw the class action case against monsanto for cancer caused by roundup....10 BILLION DOLLARS!!!!

I know of a legal company whos only purpose is to pursue legal action for covid vaccine side effects. I cant say much more as they are somewhat involved with my work. I also dont really know much more about them anyways

there is a 2005 law that empowers HHS secretary to provide legal protection ....covid vaccine manufacturers are immune from both civil and criminal prosecution----unless 'willful misconduct' by the manufacturer can be proven.....

MAYBE the company you are talking about knows something that is not public knowledge????

for me personally i just feel there is something sketchy about the covid vaccines....and i am no anti-vaxxer, i've had if not every then close to every vaccine including a flu shot every year for at least the last 10 years and get a pneumonia every 7 years.

i did some research and found that the manufacturers have complete immunity from civil and criminal liabilty-unless due to willful misconduct. under the PREP ACT.............but you are right there is little known government program that provides benefits to people who can prove they suffered serious injury from a vaccine---that program rarely pays, covering just 29 claims in over a decade.....

but this is good info, thank you....if enough people start having serious issues at least there is a glimmer of hope...more power to the people who are taking these cases-i'm sure the government is not happy with them!!!

big props @Kronic

I live in a small-ish town again, I believe 9000 people in the area. You'd think we were extremely liberal and progressive, as it's a fishing town with huge fishing roots but for the second year in a row they announced cancelling our big fishing ceremony/parade etc yesterday.

a local church offered to hold a seminar to discuss legal options regarding the vaccine and whatnot for those who objected to it. They expected a handful of people, maybe a hundred. They counted well over 1200 and they had lines of cars down the road.

I don't think that the people who question what's going on are necessarily the severe minority, I think we are just told we are.

agree! It’s time we all start being bold and sharing our opinion so that others that are on the fence or scared know they aren’t alone!

Hey man, you do realize that site is known for spreading propaganda, right? I mean, it's OK if youa believe the media is lying to us, I agree that they are. That site is using the same logic that was used to push global warming though and just using it for covid now..."a bunch of experts created this model" and we call it facts. I looked through 4 or 5 of those studies and nit one had any experimental evidence, and all had highly specious approaches, like using covid deaths per total population as a reference.

I am willing to believe Covid is not as deadly as I currently think, but 600,000+ dead Americans are hard to ignore. And things like this just play onto the Liberals' plan. They don't even have to try to deflect Biden's bungling of this....people who voted for him don't want to admit they were wrong, and people who didn't are still arguing it was never a problem.

Meanwhile, Biden blamed Trump for the deaths caused by a novel virus no one knew was coming and then gets 3 vaccines and heavy compliance and had full knowledge of the situation beforehand and it has gotten 0% better and we are still arguing that it was never a problem. Come on, man
!

:)

I noticed my trt doctor has something similar to TB 500 but it's for immune system. Thymosin Alpha-1. it's $300 a vial but I bet this could rival monoclonal antibodies

Not a fan of Biden, but this isn't on him. The bungling on this has happened on a state level not federal. Its the states setting the rules.

it isn't even at the state level....diben and his people have been meeting with the business community and jointly they have been brainstorming ways to coerce and force people into following their dictates while allowing the diben administration to deny they are making it mandatory on the federal level----plausible denial.

more and more businesses are mandating covid vaccines as condition of employment-eh....convenient backdoor approach, imo.

too many times i hear people say the government is stupid--i think they want us to believe that...the government is much more clever than they want us to believe!!!!

My statement was in regards to cases rising, not in regards to vaccine mandates.

I don't disagree, but it wasn't really on Trump either. This was dropped I'm his lap and thank God for his prior actions to pave the way for experimental medicine - while I am not saying it was the only factor, his stance since the beginning was to remove road blocks for such a scenario. Biden talked a bunch of trash and bashed Trump. Said Trump didn't even have a plan in place when Biden was transitioning. With 3 vaccines created under Trump's watch, a bunch of people begging to comply, and a bunch of knowledge that didn't even exist prior to 2020....Biden has done 0% better. Fine, not on him...but if he can't improve upon it, he shouldn't have been talking trash.

Not to mention, I have been one of the biggest defenders on here saying the death rate is WAY higher than "just the flu" - 600,000 people in 18 months is easily 10x as bad. Having said that, regardless of the vax, doctors have made huge improvements in treatments to help reduce death rates and even in spite of this and the vax the deaths per period of time under Trump are statistically the same to Biden.

I am just saying that in spite of all the rhetoric and Trump bashing, Trump was ridiculed for performing leagues better than Biden, and the stance people on my side take of saying this isn't a problem has helped to give Biden a pass. If you want to ridicule Trump, fine. If Biden thought he could do better, here is his shot. But where is the outrage over the last 6 months?

I mean, this isn't to bash anyone here. We all have some dissonance on this I think...it is hard for me to to get through my own perception.

If Biden was talking trash...he should learn from. This guy...

Bird was so underrated. There is no other like him. He was toying with everyone. I mean, tell me someone else, ANYONE, who has told his opponent where he was going to go, what he was going to do before a running their final play. Or told his opponent in the press conference before the game that he was only going to shoot with his left hand for 3/4 of the game. IMO you have Bird, Jordan, Magic, Kareem and Russell and you can make an argument for how you order those 5 guys...but they are the top 5.

i now live in the small town of terre haute, indiana [64,000]...home of indiana state university...Bird is still thought of as a basketball GOD here....i remember those celtic--laker playoffs with fond memories--larry and magic were the stars along with kareem, but the under-rated player was worthy--like i said, if celtics would have had james worthy they would have owned the lakers.

Haha, one of the guys helping me start my business went to Indiana State on a basketball scholarship and got injured in his freshman year. At the start of his sophomore year the coach asked him to show a new teammate around the university - Bird himself.

that is a really great story.....i was off in the gulf in 79, back then our only communication with outside world was ships newsletter and letters from home...when i read isu went undefeated i nearly choked on my coffee--i was a huge bobby knight IU fan back then, lol.

the bird/magic rivalry has got to be top 5 at least of all rivalries of all time in sport---no question in my mind!!!

One thing that sticks in my mind is that Bird was once asked why he played injured so much. He responded by talking about the people who worked in the stadium, cleaning up after the game, preparing for the game, etc. He felt he was responsible to show up to work because these people were all counting on him to play.

Michael Jordan was once asked about taking an off night. He responded by talking about how he tries to give his all every night, because somewhere in that audience there could be a little kid who saved up for that ticket and just wanted to see Jordan play and he didn't want to let that kid down.

Now we have load management because all these players see themselves as superstars and they should be telling everyone else how things should be run.

Mask mandate starts today in WA again. So my wife and I went into full prepper mode Saturday. Costco required masks, I accepted one then declined to wear it, I wasn't alone. nobody cared. The staff even made comments suggesting the appreciate me.

We normally spend like $100, we spent about $1k stocking up for a few months. Silly stuff like TP, but also real stuff like lighters, water, canned goods, dog food, chicken food, and all our winter vitamins that I believe help. Elderberry, Vit C, etc. we think a lockdown is coming. LAST year, cases plummeted this time of year. this year cases skyrocketed right when taliban took over.

A few people came to me for help picking up heavy items for their carts or whatever, and I could tell they approached me specifically cause we were likeminded and they liked my lack of mask. One woman told me she was stocking up on ivermectin and gave me the contact info for the doctor who has given her scripts for it.

IDK what's going on. I don't think Biden is mentally even at 80% anymore. He, Kamala, and Psaki all take a week off while the Taliban takes over.

We're told cases are skyrocketing but I'm not seeing any damage locally from it. families are being torn apart. my wife's entire family constantly pressuring her to get the vax, I think she married into my family by divine intervention, it's a safe place for her. Her kids did what they could this weekend to bully her into vax, and told her afghanistan last week was all Trumps fault. the world is weird and I think we are in for a hard winter.

I do have respect for the virus. I am doing what I can to keep us healthy despite already having had covid, and now having antibodies. the only honest answer that I or anyone else can give is that "I don't know". I don't know if I can get it again, or if I can get a variant, or if it will go worse. so all I can do is take care of my health to the best of my ability so my immune system can face opposition like a Spartan warrior.

over the weekend i had some errands so i went to several different shopping centers---the parking lots were TOTALLY full and stores were very busy, i only saw 3-4 people wearing masks...the only difference i saw between now and pre-covid was EVERY single store had help wanted signs-every one of them...so, i thought to myself if there are that many unfilled jobs where is everyone getting money to do all this shopping---then i found out that the $300 dollar per child checks had arrived on friday....

honestly, the only time i even talk about covid is here on this forum, it's like it isn't even happening where i live in small town indiana---no masks required for grades k-12 here either.........it's incredible how things are so different from place to place!!!

Yeah my town I live in us full on COVID, the talk controls their lives. When I drive 30 miles east every Weds to my hometown to have family dinner it's like going into a different world where nobody cares

People don’t care about it until they see a loved one or friend die- or come close to death. Otherwise, if you aren’t seeing all the sick people in the hospital it’s very easy to pretend that it doesn’t exist….or choose to.

I posted this in another thread because it’s true:

This is the mask I wear at work to make people feel better. It’s not really a mask but it makes people who sit on the other side of the office feel a bit better. 🥴
