The Bible says to test a women's infidelity that she should drink bitter water. If she has been unfaithful, then she would miscarry. Why do you think God would ordain the miscarriage of baby for the mothers sin?

Also why do so many people overlook John 3: 15 - Anyone who hates a brother or sister is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in him.

The Bible also discusses welcoming in your enemy: “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink" yet all I hear is people trying to argue the opposite.

You don't get to choose the parts of the Bible you get to follow.

Because in the 20 odd years I went to Church, the pastor always picked out 1 or 2 scriptures a week (and funnily enough missed the controversial ones), yet somehow those ones were fine to read on their own, but the second anyone quotes controversial ones its "Oh that's out of context"

As a general comment, my personal experience shows that, almost without exception:

(1) those who object most strenuously to the Bible have never actually read it, and
(2) those who extract parts of scripture, frequently (and intentionally) do so to for the purposes of supporting a pre-determined position, frequently taking extracts outside of the original Biblical context - all with the intention of attempting to invalidate the entire Bible, not understand the scripture in question (if they cam make one thing look wrong, then they conclude that the entire thing must be wrong), and
(3) those who draw incorrect summaries fail to understand (and have no intention of understanding) the historical meaning of the terminology as it existed in Biblical times, and assign words and phrases a contemporary meaning.

The problem gets worse as others frequently rely on the misinterpretations and misstatements made by these self-appointed scholars and use them as the basis for their own beliefs. It is like the "telephone game", except that it starts from flawed conclusions from inception, and then becomes more mistaken over time.

Oh, and most of the time, references are made to the Old Testament, not to the new covenant.

The next time someone alleges that the Bible is full of conflicts and inconsistencies - ask them to give you a few examples. You are very likely to be rewarded by blank and confused looking faces. They "got nothing", because they have simply relied on generalized locker room legend created by those intended only to excuse themselves from being subject to God's laws. When I have heard others claim that the Bible is full of conflicts and inconsistencies, I have offered to help research the conflicts and have asked them to give me one or two areas that bother them the most. I have never had anyone respond with anything specific or tangible. The few responses I have received are usually something they "think" is in the Bible, but that is not.

Words and context have meaning. Ignoring them will always lead to erroneous conclusions.

years ago i attended a catholic college in the phillippines-st columban, a mandatory class was theology. i told the priest i was having trouble with parts of the bible that seemed contradictory to me---what he told me i something i will never forget and a practice i have followed every since- he told me to 'say a prayer for understanding before opening the bible'.

As an aside note Jiigzz, I really appreciate you trailing off from the original topic with me sometimes. You seem to be sticking to what makes sense to you in a logical and earthly fashion. Unless God has opened a man’s eyes and ears to be able to understand and respond to the gospel, he can’t. Faith itself is a gift. Many who call themselves Christian cannot defend or make sense of it when questions start getting asked. If it didn’t make sense and I could poke gaping holes in it I wouldn’t believe either. In that way i completely understand you sticking to your guns. It only makes sense with a more common man-centered worldview vs a God-centered worldview.

Bah! These variant and mutant strain scares are beyond ridiculous. They just keep coming up/identifying new variants after the last one they coined didn’t ravage the country. The only people talking about them are the media. Never have they been a topic of concern or conversation at my hospital as we continue to see hospitalizations dwindle- as expected.

As much as the China virus sucks for people like myself in a hospital setting, everyone is pandemic burnt out. Time to move on!
