Back didn’t calm down until later in the evening yesterday so I went back to the commercial gym this morning. I could tell just 135 on bb rows felt like it was going to bother my otherwise happy back, so I ditched those and RDLs for machine work. Felt so good when I got home to the garage I got my hypers in and decided to load a few sandbags in the cold morning sunshine!

Way to meander through that session and come out on the other side healthy and feeling good. This is how its done: don’t fight it, get some work in, live to fight another day.

Yeah they have always been a fav. I can’t do them at home on the yoke, & they’re more specific to building my log, so I went for it!

Thank you. I put together some furniture this evening and my back was being a little whiny from being bent over so much on the floor - one set of reverse hypers and feeling good again. You really might benefit from one.

That can get me too. I always try to work on that kind of thing half kneeling when I can. Or i just flat out lay down lol.

Trust me my man, im working on it. They always irritated my L5-S1 area but i think i was always trying to overdo them because when I did them, which was rarely, my intention was never spine health i always tried using them as a dedicated glute accessory. When i get one I’ll start out with daily low weight/high reps just to build some movement tolerance & then eventually MIGHT start doing one higher weight day per microcycle. That scout RH is so tempting.

I forget - did you get the economy RH or standard model from Titan?

They are the easiest on all of the joints by far and work just as well.

Titan’s Economy model. I know you are a few inches taller than me but it will still be big enough for you, and it’s very sturdy. Reviews of it had 300lb guys saying it was stable for them as well.

Clint Darden does near daily RH work now and he recommends lower reps like 8-12 with more sets, and he is big on not swinging the weight and just letting it kinda act on the spine, for rehab. I have been controlling it more and feel it works as well or better than more reps just swinging it.

You can weld up a couple sets for 2 different widths, but my experience is you want them fairly narrow overall to keep the biggest ROM generally. You probably won’t want to go back to straight bar!

Back was hurting some deadlifting the 172 log, but none of the axle cleans really bothered me so it was great to get some heavy work in on that. Back is hurting now but that’s to be expected. I chose this over being able to squat tomorrow.

Dine-in for restaurants here is closing back down Wednesday, which means my favorite restaurant (all-you-can eat dine-in sushi) will be lost to me again, so I had a Last Supper. It was terrific.

Thanks gang; it was a great meal

Bloodwork came back finally: seems like my guts are basically healthy as ever. Everything looking normal for me with positive increases in eGFR (82), HDL (46), total testosterone (633 - this was 6.5 weeks post Clomid PCT finishing), as well as decreases in triglycerides (72), total cholesterol(173), estrogen (18), hematocrit (47%) and just generally one of the best draws I have seen in years. All blood values like rbc and platelets well within normal range.

Total Bilirubin has crept up to 1.4 (I have Gilbert’s Syndrome and my norm is usually ~1.1) so I will likely implement low dose TUDCA continually vs taking breaks from it. LDL is also a little high at 111, but it really tends to hang just over 100 so not too worried for now with the big increases in healthy HDL. I credit that to the big doses of milk thistle I have ran since coming off, and adding a bit more healthy fats and backing off fast food & sugar some.

TUDCA came in coincidentally today, so added 500mg of that with 10mg of bioperine into the daily support.

Using 200mg test e & 400mg dien e split over 2 shots weekly, and 30mg S23 daily. Eating 4-5 meals and at least 200g protein daily with an eye on eating leaner protein sources to help keep calories lower.

Yesterday I did not try to do legs as my back was pretty bad. 30 min LISS and 3x10 reverse hypers last night, and planning similar tonight, then bench in the morning.

Sorry to hear about the back giving you fits. What did it to you? Ya just kinda noted it on the 29th. Still lingering from the log a few weeks ago you think?

Just been a little finicky after bb rows and logress, but it got pretty aggravated the morning I pulled 505x2 last week. 385 moved like garbage and I should have did more/repeated warmups but I was just exhausted by the progression over 4 weeks.

Idk other than I likely pulled out of position from overall fatigue. Logpress on it this weekend made it that much worse.

Be careful with those deads tomorrow. You know how careful you have to be when doing deads and log week after week.

Yeah I really have just been using 5/3/1 to maintain my flat bench while leaving energy to focus on training my incline.

I will. I will probably try to do some frontsquats first for evaluation and some leg work, as well as use legpress as an accessory. Neutral chins, GHR & probably leg curls are staying as accessories. Deadlift will just have to be felt out. Supposed to do 455x2 and 8x2 dynamic if I feel okay with it.

At least its a DE day where you have the option to still hit the weight but back off the density a little to allow for more recovery between efforts.

Ups, downs, revelations, acceptance, tranquility.

Went into this session actually feeling 100% after moving around a lot yesterday, but Boxsquat was really hurting after a few sets. Wife suggested not sitting back as far or unloading any at the box, which definitely helped. That tells me that the back issue is probably inflamed structure, not muscular. I had to fire everything braced as hard as iron just to slowly pull a plate, so I need to take a break from deadlift & anything that will perpetuate this inflammation, including logpress.

The show Dec 12th is for holiday charity, so the money isn’t wasted if I don’t compete to my potential. I really enjoyed digging into the legpress for some quality leg work today and I think that’s going to be my focus on Thursdays for a bit.

Ankle?

Time to take a week and really Deload the low back bud. Belt squats, rev hypers, ham curls, etc. You’re in an acute exacerbation, dont try to be stubborn and push through it. You know how that ends.

Yeah you are definitely right. I already called the show promoter and I can sell my spot to a buddy if he wants it. I am going to stop loading it in any way for a week just like you suggest. I think Legpress Thursday will probably be fine; that seemed safe.

The weird thing is I felt pretty good going into the Sunday session. Nothing I was doing was hurting me, until strict Hammercurls at the end. I also felt great coming into Thursday where the boxsquat started hurting me pretty quickly.

Ankle? Is that referred pain? Take a week off everything mate!
I sprained my left ankle really badly when I was around 20 years old, missed a step jumping up into a refueling truck. I have re-sprained it once or twice over the last decade, as well torn some kind of soft tissue on top of my foot when I was 26 when some weights came off the farmer’s handles I was running while I was too dehydrated. I didn’t have insurance at the time while self-studying for a new career, so no idea what ripped but I was on crutches for Easter that year.

Anyway, it often hurts when I get out of bed. Leg days and event work seem to bother it the most, and since getting ready for the show I just did I have been had pain more days than not. Seems like any jolting like moving events or overhead pressing where my feet unload/load are really bothering my foot lately. Anything that makes the left calf tight likely. Yesterday it was pretty brutal after training.

I don’t really talk about it.

2 more reps than last wave with 290; hormones are definitely kicking in. Feeling stronger & could have did more work with incline, but I know the importance of holding back to a safe progression in this scenario. Just because I can doesn’t mean I should.

Not losing weight but seeing some physique changes already. Trying to keep food down. Doing some reverse hypers daily for my back, and going to add some cardio as I can.
