I know a couple people who stopped getting that bonus $300 unemployment that they thought they were getting until December because of Dump which the money ran out because Dump signed the order without counting the money first.

Did you look at what was in the bill? Does it surprise you that it was rejected? Are you cool with your tax money going to the plight of law breaking illegal immigrants and the companies supporting them?

No, I didnt. Nor did I say I specifically thought this particular bill should pass. I was specifically talking about BigT saying “not going to bailout democrat run states & cities” and how thats a careless attitude when there are millions of other Americans than those in those places depending on congress to get off their asses and accomplish something too.

Ive been on here multiple times saying Pelosi is a worthless POS so i am surprised to hear you two coming at me like I agree with democrats or support congress’ ineptitude. I also previously praised Trump for passing that executive order when something needed done...imagine that, you can praise someone you dont like when you think they did a good thing and criticize them when you think they didnt. I didn’t mean to come at you as a supporter of the bill. I was just saying there is more at play than just not wanting to support people in democrat cities. Which is absurd by the way. Pelosi is using the American people as hostages to try and ram through her liberal wet dream wish list.

Oh, I wholeheartedly agree that that would be an absurd thing to say. My issue with his statement was just that he specifically said something about not wanting to support people in dem states & cities (well, he didn’t specifically say that, but I am assuming “not wanting to bail them out” means that).

I also agree with your last sentence. Then she goes on record saying its the Reps who “dont want to make a deal” and makes them out to be the bad guys. Then all of the Democrat minion robots go around screaming about Trump being a racist swine and saying republicans are taking advantage of Americans by not passing the package even though pelosi and the dems are including outrageous shît in the deal that has nothing to do with the stimulus package that’s needed by millions. Its pure insanity.

i am admittedly biased, but it really pisses me off when democrats are in charge and refuse to make any attempt to stop the flow of destruction caused to their cities by 'peaceful riots'---and then expect me as a tax payer to bail them out when they are going broke.

i am truly a sympathetic person and feel for the decent people in those cities and states but for the life of me i can't understand why people keep electing the same kind of fools over and over expecting to see different results!!!

Fair enough, but the issue isn't that we expect 100% agreement - that will never happen. What we expect is to not be shoving a bunch of unneeded expenses in the bill that advance a political agenda and not budging on those unnecessary and frivolous expenses because advancing an agenda is more important than getting help to the people they are actually tasked with helping - US citizens.

On the other hand, Pelosi clearly understands who is voting for her and is trying to help them. Illegal immigrants.

Sure, but you can’t start a negotiation at your absolute bare minimum. Surely you will agree that if she gave a reasonable bill without any fluff that the senate would still try to cut and argue about it. It literally doesn’t matter what the bill contained, there has to be a disagreement about it in the name of politics.
 
And in the interest of fairness, I’m conflicted on bailing out airlines, cruise ships, and such. If the American people are expected to have enough cash in savings to make it through hard times, why shouldn’t a billion dollar industry be held to same standard.

However, this is also outside of their control. They are broke bc of poor money management but lost a huge amount of revenue due to government shut downs and regulations.

Also, I find it tough to swallow that airlines can get months of cash but the people don’t even get enough to pay a mortgage for one month. $1,200 seems like a number made up by people that live in a different reality. Oh, wait....

I do, however, believe schools need more funding. My wife works at a low income district and we’ve been having to pay out of pocket for the Clorox wipes and hand sanitizer bc the district is already out of Covid funds.

On a side note, isn’t it gross how we needed a pandemic to tell us to wash our hands and sanitize things?

I do not believe in bailing out the airlines. They should have had contingencies. Nobody is bailing me out this year. I didn’t get Trump bucks. I was expected to make due based on lasts years income while sitting on my ass at home.

In fairness, both sides are playing gamesmanship. The Republicans started lower, the dems started at $3T. From what I understand there was a $1.6T deal on the table the dems wouldn't agree on. This is higher than I expected the Republicans to go TBH and I want enough to help but I don't want to waste money that isn't necessary and I don't want to open the doors on more government reliance. These government handouts are helpful and necessary, but so is fire. You don't want to burn your house down though.

And, as I have said before...Republicans are career politicians just like the dems and if they aren't battling hard, what do we need them for? So they .are sure they are battling no matter what. Both sides do the same thing there. But I honestly feel like Pelosi and some other dem leaders are on another level regarding the corruption. Pelosi has made the last 4 years about fighting everything an elected president has done, which means she is fighting the will of the people.

But then when asked about packing the court Biden says he will do what the people want? And suddenly he will be everyone's president after liberals have claimed Trump is not their presidential? It hasn't mattered the last 4 years, why is it going to change?

So, you aren't wrong. There is too much gamesmanship. But on the other hand, if Pelosi et al hadn't spent so much time obstructing and making enemies, then if she put a reasonable bill on the table (which she hasn't) they may be more willing to deal.

I think the school system is a huge problem and it isn't just funding - although I think you are saying in reference to Covid and I can agree with that.

I have mixed feelings on the corporations because I also get that a lot of these big businesses have huge upfront expenses that they have to carry and pay back over time, in addition to variable costs. I give more leeway to an airline there than a bank. I mean, the day they open they may have $1B in assets and $850M in loans. But the idea of a big business needing help is not a good look.

One of my favorite need stories is the story if Ignac Sammelwise (sp?) Who is the father of hand washing. He found that puerpal fever was being spread by doctors who would do autopsies in the morning and then deliver babies in the afternoon - because they wouldn't wash their hands. Doctors ridiculed him and he was even put in a psych ward. They, of course, were doctors and knew what they were doing. Of course, this was also before any of those doctors had ever heard about "germs".

I just googled that Sammelweis fella...he died 14 days after he was put in the psych ward from a gangrenous hand wound that was caused by the guards beating the crap out of him. Poor bastard.

Im not sure either is primarily concerned with directly helping citizens, one just wants to spend a little more than the other and with their own favored rich people.

All this is really going to effect us fiscally in the long run costing us much more than what the individual benefits with in the short term.

People get chicken feed and they become dependent on this failed system.

Yeah, it is crazy, and something I always think of when people use "concensus" as part of their argument - or think the pros know what they are doing - or point to science as if we have all the answers. Science is a framework that provides useful solutions, but everything is always in question. There are no unquestionable "facts".

I think it’s too much of a coincidence that a major incident like that happened so close to the election. Maybe I’m wrong but for a black police officer that is in the middle of one of the worst riots in the US in many years to be able to see it, why isn’t everyone else? We bitch about each side of the isle but let’s face it we’re fucked either way. But I still put my vote to Trump because he’s the lesser of the evils.

I wish some of you guys in this thread would run for office. I may write in Dixon or Ax or Swain. Hell, I'd even vote for Woody, he may be wrong about some things, but at least he's not out to burn the house down.

Although, Woody has a law degree, so if he didn't finish in the bottom 25% of his class, he's over qualified. What do you call an attorney who's finished in the bottom of his law class? Senator.
