Now for something completely different

Todays run. Felt pretty good today. Slipped into the zone and was able to stay there awhile without forcing it. Looking into cardarineInvalid Link Removed
Keep pushing it man better pace then the last pace you posted. Also maybe once a week mess with your heart rate getting it real high then jog then pick up the pace get it high again keep it high er at maybe 30 second intervals then work on keeping those intervals longer. It will help keep your heart rate lower when you go to run at a steady pace and help you shave time. I’ve always been a runner until I got into lifting that’s always what I found most effective or use slight hills.

In and interesting read !

Weight seems to have plateaued between 235 and 245..maybe thats normal for a retired 6'6 powerlifter. I guess i could restrict cals more...but I burn a ton daily. 2300 just living and another 2000 running for 2 or 3 hrs. And there is no way in hell Im eating anywhere near 4k in cals. Hmmmm?

Big fella was moving today...for me at least..lol..fastest pace yet. Least distance, but I wanted to see what was under the hood..lol

This is amazing stuff big lad. Loving the updates and the progress.

Things that will definitely help....
Hill runs (run up a hill for a set period of time usually 1 or 2 mins, then casually make your way to the bottom once the timer runs out and start again....repeat till exhausted)

Anaerobic training (run at capacity for 30secs, recover for 1min 30secs repeat that 15 times for a 30min workout)

Cycle (set a distance and a time goal and the aim is to reach your distance goal before the clock runs out...mine is 10miles or 30mins)

Weighted box steps (10mins of stepping with a few minutes recovery, repeat until exhausted)

Trail running with a variation of hills and flats.

This is great advice as new data showing intervals at max capacity are just as productive as long grueling workouts. I do think your muscles have to be conditioned for endurance before this applies tho

I agree that your leg muscles have to be conditioned for endurance.

All above is all just added training. The base of the training and the foundation is just running the miles which will condition those muscles. I laid down my foundation in the first few months and clocked the miles under foot before I went into the diversity of the other training.

like all things in life, focus on a solid foundation and build from there.

Life is like a ladder, you just have to work your way up.

Where’s the updates big fella, how are those miles treating you???
Getting a little faster..almost 10 miles at 16min mile. Weight is at 232 this AM. Cut down on cals a bit..took beans out of diet, cut back on rice, upped the chicken and veggies. Making progress.

Nice Work !!

Today was meal prep day and an easyish 8 miles. Alternate 1 mile hard 1 mile easy. Ordered 2 new pair of Asics off of zappatos...for 110 total. Same make and model Im currently wearing that I paid 97 for. Burned 2200 cals running and probably ate 2000 today. Weight was 230 flat after eating and drinking water after my run. Was 234 prior to run...might have saw upper 220s for a second there...lol. Little sore today, feet and knees. New Tool album carried me through.

8 miles does not sound easy !

Im finding mixed reviews about low dose test and endurance training. Weight gain is something I want to avoid. I want to drop to about 210 to make running easier, but was thinking a trt dose maybe 100 of E a week would be good for recovery at my age..45. Thoughts opinions? Also, something for my old man joints. 6'5 and 230 and 8 to 10 miles a day is taking a pounding on my knees...any ideas?

I don’t think test will hinder your training at all. I think it would help your recover and push through once you start hitting a plateau also your in a caloric deficit you should gain to much maybe a little water weight but minimal on a TRT dose.

Agree ...

You have to rest dude that’s what will help your muscles, joints and performance, the workout you are giving your legs while running is the same as a workout you would give them in a gym.....REST!!!!!!

You know this man and you would be the first to say it to someone......sooooooooo REST!!!!!

I agree a bit but idk if you have ever trained for a marathon you run everyday. You may run a shorter distance one or 2 days out of the week. Running is endurance not strength. That’s how you build your muscles and joints is getting use to those distances everyday.

The 1st and 2nd of November are dedicated to beer and bad food..its on the calendar and supplies have been bought..movies are in quec and the woman is out of town. fYI..there may or may not be some drunken Cheetos fueled postings..lol.

Yeah I ran the lochness marathon start of this month. 2 distance runs a week and 3 days split between anaerobic, hills and average distance.

Im just out pounding as far as I can go everyday..no less than 7..sometimes 10..13 once..no rhyme or reason..just lace up and hit it till my body starts to quit on me...lol. Its getting easier. I could run further..slower..but Im already out there over 2 hours a day..usually..sometimes 3..and thats long enough. Im just trying to pick up my pace now...which is still slow AF. But I didnt start off benching mid 500s either.

Hey swim, great progress brother.

couple of thoughts (I run a fair bit as well as lifting, plus I’m over 200lbs so experience a bit of what you are when running as a heavier guy)....

For me gh promoting peptides basically alleviate all knee stiffness or soreness from running. Very quickly as well. I like a mk/cjc dac combo but even just mk does wonders.

you also want to supplement with natural anti inflammatory stuff, turmeric is the main one but loads of others (quercetin is a selective adaptagen so useful for post training) - endurance athletes are known to have crazy high inflammation brother.

but yeah loving your progress and change in
Direction - keep after it

Welcome back swim! Interesting to see you go for endurance training, good luck!
So its freezing here. 3 pairs of sweats, 3 sweatshirts and a t shirt. After 2 miles, i was soaked and my clothes probably weighed 25 pounds..that sucked. Hence my time today..lol

yeah feel your pain on that one bro, I hate feeling cold at the start of a run so always err on the side of extra clothing and end up sweating like a fat kid in a sweet shop.

I’ve always found gloves and a hat helps me get away with less on the rest of my body, I think (but I’m not sure) that there is something about covering the hands and head that helps with feeling cold

Thanks, might go for 10 today. Started trt last week..not as sore. Doc said i was probably already low and endurance training lowers it even more..he also gave me a anti-inflammatory called melaxoican...just take one a day..seems to help.

Food for the week. Pork Tenderloin...when I was 340 and geared this would last about 3 days..lol

Today's run. Froze my butt off. I ordered some long sleeve and pants compression stuff from ebay to act as an "inner shell" and hopefully keep my layers of "outer shell" dry during these cold months. Still gotta figure out what to put on my head...I stopped several times to wring out my stocking cap because I sweat like I have a glandular condition...but my head is shaved and I have to put something on it. Diet is still chicken breast, rice, veggies, water, coffee, sugar free popsicles. Weight is still in the 230s. Running is definitely getting easier though.
