Gaining muscles while losing fat. HGP tries the impossible, watch me fail!

Oh yeah you are doing full body workouts right now huh? You should try an HST run, you could power through that in less than an hour I bet. With 2 work sets per exercise, 1 exercise per body part. Not a ton of volume there. Just quick hard work.

I love HST! I have always done something that uses its principles at a minimum for the last 8 or so years. Pretty much what I'm doing. except 4 sets for every muscle with progressive load w/ ZIG ZAG.
First 2 weeks is 15 reps ,then 12 reps for 2 weeks, 10 reps for 2 weeks, 8 reps for 2 weeks. then de condition. I can't do the weight required for 5 reps except for legs. too many injuries and old injuries to follow it to a T.
But yes a big fan of HST!

When my busy season hits I go back to 2-3 sets. and stick with one muscle lifts. Now that I have more time I will hit all 3 shoulder muscles, and Mid back and lat work. each workout (Slow growers for me). on my current zig zag i hit 6 sets of hack squats. then the next is 4 sets ea. Leg extensions and leg curls.

This resonates with me right now.

Repaired the last fridge today and got my car back from the mechanic. Filter and oil change was with about 1k miles overdue -and then some other expensive sh1t. Now I'm as poor as a church rat (not church mouse, I'm bigger than that).

Yes, life gets fugged up sometimes....

FWIW, you’re not alone, if that makes it any better. Last Tuesday night, 2 days after my bicep detachment, my fiancé’s family’s house burned down. Everyone made it out alive and only her dad had some burns from falling debris and reaching into a burning room to get the door open, but now they’re homeless looking for an apartment while they try to get the remains and lot sold so they can try to buy a new home.

Then last night my older brother up in Chicago reached out telling me he snapped his ankle on the ice this week and is bedridden while they wait for the inflammation to drop enough to perform surgery next week, loaded up on opiates and still in terrific nerve pain just waiting.

Sometimes when it rains it pours, but we’ll bounce back!

Gym

Too lazy to report on it. It was good and heavy!

Gonna try a 7 day fast (just water), starting Feb. 18. Together with a friend. Figured that I'm good in holding my weight -but suck trying to lose fat.
When time comes, I'll open a short log.

Did spurfy spark that flame too? I’m contemplating actually doing the 10 day... but not anytime soon lol maybe closer to summer

Nah, saw a new video from enhanced athlete and decided spontaneously to do it. Supposedly one loses 13lbs of fat in that time frame. You are already lean, brother, I would not do it. I have enough fat to spare.
I once did 3 days. 7 days will be a real challenge.

You doing this for fat loss only? If so, it’s a better way of doing that, and You can maintain your fat loss goal.

Yeah it's always easier to adapt the body to slow changes, easier to maintain too but I guess he wants faster results and while on deca it's not as hard to keep muscles but at the same time one might not use the advantages with deca. It's just what will the diet be when fasting is over? A bit tricky but can be done

I agree, but one can gain the fat back as well,by not maintaining a reasonable daily healthy eating plan.

What Spurfy told me about his 10 day water fasts is if you can break 3 days the hunger won’t get any worse, and after 5 days you basically can go as long as you want.

He did mention an important stipulation: you still need electrolytes to function semi-properly. He takes salt potassium calcium and magnesium tabs and dissolves them in water with some lemon juice. Said most of the brutal fatigue and cramping gets mitigated while being able to go truly food free for extended periods. And he doesn’t train, just lots of walking and hiking at low-moderate intensity.

Yes that's what I'm getting at. It's easier to follow a strict diet and stay on that

I do that already -or lets say, I found my balanced diet (diet = forever). No fat gain anymore. My reasoning is, since I already have that checked, if fat is lost, I can maintain the new physique. I could either starve for 2 month -or fast for a week.

Yes, important! Have that planned. No gym for the duration of the fast.

I would fast for 3 days without exercising, exercise and eat for 2 days, and fast the last 2 days without exercising.

That is not masochistic enough for me. :) BUT, it may end like this if my discipline sucks after day 3.

3 days without food would be an amazing accomplishment. So if you start feeling like a human, Eat.. lol!

Will make a honest log when I start, so you guys have some fun watching me suffer. :)

Ive done 13 days water only... Honestly the first 3 days are the worst. And anything over 7-10 days you start losing weight really fast. If I could give you any advice its to taper off anything like caffeine, alcohol, sugar etc and eat as clean as possible for the days leading up to. Keto diet is even better a few day before to put you in ketosis early.

From what I see you already eat pretty clean and do intermittent fasting so you should have an easy transition. The cramping lower back pain and hip pain I get from it is annoyingly excruciating. It's almost as if your body is being wrung out. Which I think is kind of what's happening the toxins are being evicted from their habitation. I've never tried it with the electrolytes or amino acids is another thing I've heard works well for fasting used sporadically.

WOW! 13 days! Any idea how much BF% you lost in that 13 days?

I have no idea... I was doing it more for other benefits but I looked small but really cut up. I looked like a different person.

Honestly the best thing about it after you get through the initial withdrawal and shock your body goes through you mentally become super sharp and keen. Your discernment goes up exponentially and your ability to see things and think more clearly are profound. The body just starts operating at a higher rate of proficiency.

That's my favorite thing about fasting you feel amazing on it.

Oh no. Becoming more sharp and keen is not so good. I'm already full of myself. LOL!
I hope it changes a bit my metabolism for the future, like insulin sensitivity. Is there a chance for it to happen?

Hmmmm I'm not sure how will affect insulin sensitivity long-term. I do know that blood glucose drops while you're fasting.

If there's any advice I'll give you about the metabolism is this. I've done numerous 3-day fast and short fasts (1-3 days).

When you come off the fast don't binge and eat a bunch of garbage. Eat really clean whole healthy foods. I've fallen into the Trap before because all I could think about was food of going off the deep end and binging on all kinds of garbage. You have to remember you're immediately putting all kinds of toxins back in your body when your body just got done cleaning itself out. Eat clean- vegetables nuts grilled meat Etc. This will definitely help you with what you're trying to accomplish and your metabolism being boosted and also your body running more efficiently.

But to answer your question yes I do and I also think it has an accumulative effect. As you continue to intermittent fast and periodically fast for 1 to 3 days you will see your body start running better for sure. At least that was the case for me.

That just seems really contraproductive with deca and the bloodsugar can be quite effected on nandrolones even with a low calorie diet. It just burns food and without food youll have no energy.

I would just eat like 5 meals a day, 3 of them before workout with a little oats, a table spoon of peanut butter to each meal or some Olive oil, eggs/protein shakes and lean meat and you'd definitely drop fat on deca.

Just high protein intake, around 100-150gr of carbs and the rest healthy fats (maybe 2300 calories)

Just my 2 cents but we all know you're a man of steal so if you wanna starve a week to save the forest trees im all in :D

It is quite interesting to follow for sure. 7 days without eating just to see what happens I'm in.

There was a dude that supposedly fasted 382 days.

Yeah I've heard about stories like this, I believe there was an Indian guy that claimed he didn't sleep for like 70 years or something. I don't know wether these stories really are true cause it seems almost impossible to survive that, but I'm willing to accept that some people are just wired differently. Like the guy that can touch electric things without getting electrocuted.

I read once about a guy that could touch boobies with out getting an erection.....I don't believe it !!

There was also a guy claiming he could touch the tip of his penis while making a perfect circle using only Ink and a stick while staring at the sun in Broad daylight

I think fasting is the fastest way to lose weight, not the best way to burn fat while retaining muscle.

But, how good an occasional fast is for the body in my opinion makes it a great consideration. The way it lets the immune system regenerate and gives the body a break. I definitely intend to undertake one this year.

I'm curious how fasting on deca works out. How much muscle can one preserve with a nandrolone and no food?

Yeah I mean the obvious answer is more than on TRT levels at least but with no amino acid intake even if you have fat stores to feed you it should be expected to lose muscle. Losing weight fast in general always is tougher on muscle.

BUT it will probably be worth it overall for a multitude of factors.

Never had problems building muscles -but losing fat is tricky for my old azz.

Yeah I guess, I'm speculating how it's possible to actually train without food though. I mean is it even worth it? I can't imagine deca would be able to spare muscles if you both don't eat and work out. Granted you'd get that back quite fast the next weeks
hairygrandpa are you working out during this week?

He really don’t have to do the 7 day fasting. Increase cardio and continue his training and eating regimen, and he will lose body fat. Just an opinion from a Previous overweight fat guy.

What about drinking a product like HumaPro to help retail muscle ??

No i agree, he said he was impatient. I can't fathom not eating for one day myself. I am very curious tho and probably HGP too what actually happens to his bodyfat lol. That being said I'm not sure I'd suggest it without doctors supervision. Just seems a bit risky to me.
