A week into cold turkey kratom withdrawals

Kratom = granted I've gotten as educated as I care to but what I understand is it is an opiate receptor agonist. Doesnt cause numerous problems a pharmaceutical does...100% of the time. The 7-OH may be a partial opioid?

However, I dont think you can even say a majority get addicted to this. You will not need increasing doses over time - does not lose effectiveness as far as pain relief. I understand to a degree they "fill the same hole" but the action is nowhere near the same.

Imodium is an opiate. Would you compare that to nubain, oxy, heroin?

Well the majority of kratom users I’ve met did in fact end up addicted, using ascending doses etc... but alright. Imodium doesn’t get you high and block pain reception

Kratom does. Nubain does.
 
Not an opiate, but got many alkaloids. 7-hydroxymitragynine binds to μ-opioid receptor. Not really strong affinity opiod receptor compared to real opiates.

I truly have a lot to say. Almost 7 years on kratom myself. Ditched the pain clinic and went this route instead......but I'll drop it and just say I know you are wrong. So trust me....

RB - my apologies, didnt mean to jack your thread and dive into this side trip. Hope you are feeling good while being kratom free for the new year!

Been using kratom on and off for about 12 myself. Seen many people come off oxys onto kratom, seen many more going the other way though.

Start on kratom and end up on oxy? Wow- havent seen that yet. I guess to the person who has no real opiate use experience that could make sense though.....that would be a real sh!t way of getting yourself into an opiate addiction for sure. The sh.t RB is going through, the sh.t everyone who ends up there goes through....I wouldnt wish that on my worst enemy.

Well, Maybe if they stole my cialis stash, but that's it.

Yeah because these kids were thinking, oh man if kratom ain’t **** let me try oxys. Oh they ain’t ****, let me try suboxone, oh that was cool, let me try heroin.
 
Update: should be right around 2 weeks:

Still feeling ok. Been having trouble sleeping lately, I think me finally catching up on my sleep may have something to do with it. Maybe not, not sure.

I don't really crave it anymore though, at all.
 
Good on you OP for quitting if it became an issue or a dependency thing.

I used Kratom steadily, probably about 20g daily, for a little over 2 years. Quit cold turkey without issue for several months then realized I missed it and have been back at it. I've read lots about varying degrees of "withdrawal" symptoms folKS experience when dropping it.

I grew to only use whites as I enjoy the mood and energy boost. Never had much of a pain killing effect on me (the whites).
 
Glad to hear RB. On the way downhill now. If no cravings, is your head clearing up...feeling pretty normal? With all the stuff you threw out it's pretty cool you've been able to just put your head down and power through it all.

Yeah, my motivation is returning. No cravings, I just feel kinda "meh" for lack of a better term. So used to being on a high that normal life seems kind of, not joyless, but boring, maybe is a better term.

I have a feeling it will take months for my endorphins to fully return to normal, and my mood will improve over time. I am officially over it though. I can say that and it is a good feeling. :)

You might try some high volume training with forced reps to get those endorphins firing at a higher concentration.

I know the feeling. When you're not high you feel bored out your mind! It's getting past the restless boredom that's the hard part

The boredom when you come off this type of thing can be painful. When I quit cold turkey from a heroin addiction years ago, the boredom was excruciating. But after a little while simple things will give you joy and seem interesting. Sunlight alone will give you an orgasm. That’s that “pink cloud” effect I guess.

I was using 12-16g a night for a while and started using Agmatine and Black Seed Oil, now I am down to 4-8g a night. I try and take breaks every few weeks between batches running out (which is longer now that I lowered dosages, probably not good), and it seems I just have trouble sleeping for a night or two and a headache for a couple days. I get a little moody if I don't have any, but that tends to go away within a few days as well.

I enjoy it and it doesn't cause any problems for me, so I don't see a reason for stopping yet. Maybe once they ban it I will stop, as I don't care to stock up on it.

It is more of a part of my nightly routine now. I can't just be out all day, get home and crash. Even before Kratom, I had to get home to shower and eat, then relax on the couch watching tv for a while to unwind. It definitely helped my mood and anxiety from before, but in turn makes those worse for a few days after stopping. I know I've mentioned this before, but I went for 3-4 weeks of daily Percocet use after surgery to nothing at all and I didn't notice anything as far as withdrawal, so that has given me some confidence in the Kratom use.


Great job on you RickyBlobby for giving it up. I know it can be really rough for some people. I also have some Klonopin I use for whenever I can't sleep the first night after stopping, and it tends to help for a couple of days. Any reason you didn't utilize Agmatine or Black Seed Oil during withdrawal?

Still having trouble falling asleep. But I've been popping up at 5am every morning (my normal work wake up time) wide awake.

I have also began drinking coffee again, with no anxiety or ill effects. I've started taking Amazing Grass Green Superfood again. I think it is helping my energy levels . Good stuff.

Back to work tomorrow after 2 weeks. I feel as though I am ready.

Got 18 months left to finish my bachelors and doing really well at work=there’s never going to be a good time to taper off.

I went the mega dose loperamide route. It’s disgusting, and makes you feel like ****, but it works. I’m functioning at a high level at work although not high. I’ll probably remove 10mg a day for two weeks.

Bad news: it took about 144mg’s to put me out of withdrawals, which could put me at risk for dysrhythmias, but having done this before, there is heavy motivation to taper quickly off this. You can’t crap and it’s a dirty feeling, that and the whole dying of a heart attack thing also.
Congrats RB on jumping off. I’m done w this shyt controlling me too, I hope to be free of the lopes 2-4 weeks and done for good as well. Keep it up.

Was hoping we would see you jump in mathersby! Although I was kinda hoping you were having some success with your own taper you were talking about...still good to hear though brother. Hope all is well - I'm sure you have moved 3 or 4 times since we last heard from ya .

RB - your thread has enlightened me (along with everyone else's stories on the matter here at AM) I cant jump off bc I need some sort of pain mgmt. I'd much rather be leaning on kratom than oxy's ... but I've gone from 70+g a day down to 26. 26 handles what I need it to - the rest was for no good reason. I want to be able to cut it off if I can get my back healed a little more...and dont want a nightmare story like I've heard from several of you.....and REALLY dont want to go down the lope trail if I can help it. I know there have been several threads on this the past year - I hope people are paying attention to this topic

Good for you man. I suggest taking a couple weeks off and just roughing it out on the couch. It worked well for me.

This is my first day back to work and I can honestly say I can think much more clearly now that I'm off that crap. And my anxiety is nearly nonexistent whereas on kratom it was constantly up and down between doses

Yeah man I've tried to quit numerous times over the years, but being at work with all the stress involved made it impossible. Taking those 2 weeks off was crucial. I'm already feeling so much better.

That’s awesome you’re at a seriously manageable dose. There’s really no need to chase a high with Kratom as I have for 2 years. They are few and far between and typically come with way more side effects. What did it for me, was my main supplier stopped selling kilos at $220 and only had 500 ct bottles for $95. At my dose that would put me out $800 a month. It was already expensive but I can’t justify it anymore. Even if it becomes banned in the US, you won’t have a bytch of a time with 26grms a day to get right. I hope they don’t bc it’s far better and more maintainable than pharm pain management. I know I couldn’t do it, I’d finish my months supply in the first week.

I know I’m late to the party but I’ve had little results with straight CBD and have the same problem with anxiety. Strains like Harlequinn and high cbd to thc ratios seem to work best as I strongly feel cbd is way too ineffective without the presence of thc. Even indica strains can wig me the **** out. I have to tread lightly with weed but have had great results with high cbd strains and very little else.

I smoke and grow a strain called shock shark. Its 1:1 thc/CBD..
I agree it needs to be in unison with thc.
I had the same problem where even heavy indicas gave me issues. And ive been smoking since I was 12. I also grow critical kush which has 2.5% CBD with 18% thx which I can tolerate on occasion. But 1:1 ratios are so good. Very medicinal and thats all I'm looking for these days.
 
For me it’s anything with a high level of THCv I can’t do... that stuff is instant paranoia. THC and CBC are fine in concert with CBD. CBN makes me fall asleep immediately, so I avoid anything that seems high in that.

I am the same way, smoking anything gives me instant paranoia, anxiety, and I feel like everyone else is acting scary/weird. It is crazy. One night at the club I hit a Juul not knowing it had a THC pod in, in like 5 minutes it all hit me and I was like, "****, I am about to get so weird."

If you guys have seen the movie truth or dare, anytime I looked someone in the face, it looked like whenever someone on that movie would like at their friend and their face got distorted and creepy looking.

Holy crap I had no idea there were others. I thought I was the only weirdo like this. Blue dream worked well for just a few hits a night, but then at the end of the bag, I scooped up all the dust and took a half hit. Bonkers and thought for sure I was going to die. 1:1s are pretty much all I’ll mess with now.
 
Yeah I hate most weed. Blue dream and green crack are two I tolerate well but it's only a puff or two and I'm good

But I think everybody would enjoy CBD/THC equal ratio smoke

So it essentially gives you the bodily feelings...relax muscles, pain relief, calming, sleep aid etc....without taking your mind overboard? Is that the idea behind the 1:1 ratio....more medicinal and less "high"?

I switched to a blend of caffeine/l-theanine a couple years ago, and am pretty happy with that. I don't really have anxiety issues, but I do noticed that the BP effects of caffeine are blunted by l-theanine. quite a bit of clinical data on the combination, too...

I agree. I do also like some higher levels of CBC as well, which sort of enhances the cbd. You can tell there’s enough CBC because it will creep up on you instead of hitting you right in the face upon exhale. I can never remember the word CBC stands for, unlike cbd cannabidiol, but I remember it’s effects easily because it’s the Creeper Bud Chemical.
 
Still having trouble falling asleep, it takes roughly an hour of tossing and turning. Waking up at 5am again BLOWS. I have to drag myself out of bed. But once I get going I'm ok.

All in all, still feeling less anxious throughout the day, way better mental clarity. Just better all around. Don't regret quitting at all.

Pretty easily get through the workday yesterday RB?

Sounds like you are nearing the end of the big battle portion of this. Sleep was always the last thing to normalize for me - but if your waking up feeling good then just keep kicking a$$!

Yeah man, I felt really good in the AM. Was tired PM but probably due to like 4 hrs sleep.

Yeah I'm over it. Over nicotine and alcohol too. I feel good. It's awesome. Only downside is benzo use increased marginally. But I am totally fine being down to 1 pill a day.
 
Slept better last night. Not sure if it was exhaustion from only getting 4-5 hours the previous 3 nights. If I could get this sleep thing sorted out I'd be golden

I'd highly recommend getting yourself some Black Seed Oil. It is proven to help with withdrawals and for those that continue with kratom, it is a serious potentiator and can help keep doses down.
