Today will be an off day from exercise, I do have 4 yards to cut. I will be 1 man army today. I am sore as sh1t today. Yesterday was a loooooooooooonnngggg day. But when the checks come in the mail, hopefully the mailbox doesn't fall over. Day 5 no cigs, the urge is going away slowly. Today will be a test, wife gets home today from myrtle Beach and I'm gonna take her on the river this evening for a quiet evening and dinner. I haven't had alcohol all week, I'm gonna try a 3 or 4 drink limit.

Keep up the good work and tonight just keep look ahead no cigs and 2 drinks max !! Does your wife smoke ?

^^^ That's a good note to follow. Two drinks max. Hopefully you're wife doesn't smoke. It would be a lot harder for you to quit if she smokes.

Yes sir, it's not as easy for her as it is for me. She says Sept 1st is her day, she needs the patch and assitance.

Awesome! So with both of you trying to quit then you will save money from not smoking and put it towards supps;)

BOSSMAN did you make it through the week end OK ?

Yes sir on the drinks and cigs. Covered in poison ivy though...SUKKS!!!
And about 500 yards from the dock I blew my hub on my prop . Hahahha....what a day on the river. Spent 3 hours detailing the boat, dropped $200 in the fuel tank. Had a great day planned for the wife, and BOOM!!!...plans changed quick

Kind of a piss poor workout this morning, I am covered in poison oak, so bad on my hands I couldn't even grab a dumbell this morning. Left hand is swollen to where I can't even get my wedding ring off. I've been trying to let it run its course and use otc products but I think I'm gonna have to see the doc tonight. Sleep is good, diet is good, the will is there for the workouts but this poison and sweat just ain't mixing. Gonna figure out sumn.

Yes sir! Good to go, had a few cocktails sunday and no smokes. That was the real challenge

Great Job brother! that is one of the hardest things to quit.

That is when I failed after 6 months about 25 years ago. At the bar with some buddies and said give me a smoke Its been awhile. Before I know it I dropped my .75 cents in the machine and pulled the handle. Still hooked on Nic but I have been vaping for 12 years. Way before it was cool.

Congrats on making it the week!

Try a colloidal oatmeal bath to help with the itching. If too bad, don't wait, go get on some steroids to kick the inflammation so it can start healing.

Sorry but it's still not cool!

Holding strong on the smokes! !! Not so much on the nutrition and exercise. Been working like a dog . This weather has been a real challenge, I work 530am-4pm mon-Fri on day job. That leaves me with the evenings and weekends to do my lawncare. It seems like for the last 6 weeks it either rains every day at between 3-5 pm and on the weekends. Had to take off from day job yesterday just to stay caught up.Invalid Link Removed
That's was yesterday's workout for me, most of those steps are with a weedeater in hand or a backpack blower on. Lil sore today!

Good job on the smokes, now lets get that Nutrition in line and you might be surprised the gains you can make !!

Crazy how many steps you’ve done in this log! Was that your lunch break right around 12:30 where it goes to no steps? Ha

Week 2 in the books on the smokes!

Nice job. Keep up the good work!

Congrats on keeping the smokes at bay! I didn't realize that the landscaping wasn't your main gig. Holy Crap Man when do you have time for anything else? What do you do at your regular job?

Engineer...build roads, ponds, mine sand and gravel, and load trucks. Heavy heavy equipment

Lawncare is 7 days a week, 4pm til dark and weekends.

I assume with that schedule that the wife is probably a stay at home Mother?

Good on you to have that kind of drive man. I just want to be comfortable in life, and work as little as possible to achieve that. Not tons of drive to push much further unless something I am passionate about like physique and performance stuff.

The wife is a medical assistant m-f 40 hours. She has a residential and commercial cleaning service. She has 6 residential homes a month and 2 big azz commercial buildings she does 3 nights a week for each. It's nuts for sure, but with 3 kids all involved in travel sports year around and the lifestyle we live unfortunately each of us having a day job isn't enough. Definitely not gonna sit around and be broke, gotta hussle. ... my day job is a union job so my benefit package is untouchable. I could easily walk away and do just my lawncare aND be good financially. .BUT, there is always that dam BUTT, know way could I pay health insurance for a family of 5, and put away for retirement at the rate I do on my union job into a pension. Unfortunately her day job benefits aren't that great so couldn't go that route either.

When I was fresh out of high school I was presented with an opportunity of a lifetime (which I thought) I had to run a business with 5 (silent partners ). This included high risk loans at a 33% interest rate and if you didn't pay, well there was some tactics we had to get our money but I will call it a repo. Between the ages of 19-29 I had on an average of 80k a month going through my checking acct. At that age, that's not a good thing. I blew it all literally, up my nose, vacation , cars, houses, jewelry, wife didn't work, guns, whatever....and like the old saying goes all good things come to an end. I got caught up big time and paid the price big time!! Honestly I'm more happy now not having to look over my shoulder for the atf, irs, fbi, etc etc...I was a full blown loan shark for the f****h m***a...I took the wrap for everything, did my time and here I am. I don't even come close to making that kind of money per month now ,but I do dam good. The best thing about it is, now everything is earned and appreciated more. I guess that's where the drive comes from is having all that for so long, not wanting to go back to the situation I was in , and the satisfaction of hard work pays off and I can still buy or do whatever I want when I want.

Well not for nothing but if you were that successful then, you had the same work ethic, just different application. I can't even begin to imagine what it must be like to have both parents working full time as well as pretty much full time at a 2nd job all while trying to get the kids to their activities and what not.

I am sure if I had come from some level of success then I would be more driven to do more. I come from a broken home, where we were on all the welfare programs and what not throughout childhood. I never expected to even be where I am now as far as comfort and income go. I wish a little of that entrepreneurial drive could rub off on me. I have my certifications for coaching and training to try to start doing the coaching on the side and still drag my feet on trying to turn it into a legitimate side hustle and really putting a lot of effort into it.

The oldest son is driving now so that helps a ton. My parents live 9 houses away and help whenever we need them. Mother in law is retired and 7 miles away, without them it wouldn't be possible.

That is awesome that you have such a good support system. We are kind of alone here regardng that. My Dad lives here but his health prevents him from helping out. Just have one more "child" left she is 14 and involved in Dance now. Before she was in about 4 different activities finding her way... Was unreal trying to take just her to everything. Now at least it is just dance but the schedule is going to get hectic again once school starts.

Still seeing you do what you do takes most excuses anyone else might try to use and trashes them. Me I don't even try to lie. I am too comfortable to be hungry enough to work that hard or many hours... Too me though it is really about just getting started then I can just go and go like you. So I am just dealing with a bit of starters fear.

Your are 100% correct, although my exercise regime has dwindled down to about 2 to workouts a week compared to 5 or 6. Every morning when my alarms goes off at 3am, I straight up say out loud " I don't want to be fat again" . It's all about getting started. I never want to go back to being that 300lb big party boy again. The work ethic is just there, my dad had my brother and I out as little boys 5 and 6 years old helping him as he sold firewood as a side hussle. My dad is 66 now and we work side bye side every day on the day job. He has 48 years in the union, hahaha... he could retire and make more $ than he does now working. But anyways, always a pleasure reading your posts. Fitness related or not, I enjoy reading your post.

Thanks Brother, and yours as well!

Hey BOSSMAN,

I am so impressed with your work ethic. You are what I call one of the many “quiet heroes” of this nation; never in the news for 15 minutes of fame, getting up to work before sun-up and quitting after sundown, sacrificing today for a better tomorrow to support your family, etc.

Props, brother. You’ve earned it! ?
