The Unofficial Ice Cream thread

How's graeters peanut butter chocolate chip ?? Any reviews ? Pics ??

My review is online for you, but as Boone said buckeye is still the GOAT, I would give it an 8/10 because buckeye has the superior choc PB base and added cookie dough

If you are going to get graters grab that new s'mores it's absolute crack

If you want just choc and PB you have to go little g chocolate PB cup

Graeter's Dark Chocolate Fudge Brownie
Grade: B+
Invalid Link Removed

Summer Bonus Flavor #1:
"dark chocolate ice cream featuring deliciously gooey fudge brownie pieces."

Invalid Link Removed

The dark chocolate ice cream is identical to fudge in flavor. You would think with a dark chocolate ice cream there may be some bitterness in the aftertaste, but that is not the case here.

Invalid Link Removed

The fudge brownies are dynamite in this flavor. At first I was skeptical because brownies are not a refined mix-in Graeter's puts in their icecream. Therefore I had my doubts on quality and quantity that would be included. The brownies were soft, chewy, and dense in flavor that they meshed right into the ice cream.

Non dairy ice CREAM is pretty ironic ha

Non-Dairy for people who have lactose issues but still want to venture into higher name brands. (B&J have a variety of non-dairy's)
Believe it or not, one of my favorite ice creams from Salt & Straw is vegan and non-dairy.

i get theres a market, and theres plenty of good flavors... just find it funny that the name in and of itself has "cream" ie. dairy, right in it

Ugh! Those all sound incredible

I'll live vicariously through you :(

Ill prob do a YT Video on all the flavors as an initial review and give an inside look at how crazy Little G's is for someone who has never had her brand. This should help others on the fence of buying them since I will get them on day 1 this go around.

I've had them so personally no interest haha.

From your standpoint of course. There are thousands that have not. Broadcasting it on YT and showing it through social media opens up a lot of channels of communication. Plus.. you can live through the review :)

I'm considering swapping out the mud pie (not a big coffee guy) for something... Thinking:
maple oatmeal cookie dough, snack attack, or triple cookie dough... also considered pb&j but fear its too simple to be worth it.

thoughts?

The mud pie has her 2 best mix-ins Stuffed Cookies & Brownies on top of a salted caramel brownie swirl (yes that is new). This will be one of her best flavors. For example the stuffed cookies are absolutely massive.

The coffee base is subtle, it is not overpowering by any means. With all the mix-ins and swirls you won't really taste much of it once you pass the surface.

I would suggest PB Marshmallow or Fudge Brownie (easily the best two to grab)
Maple Oatmeal as a third (the cookie dough chunks are LIT).
Snack Attack is kinda meh.. Ample hills Munchies is far better.
Triple Cookie Dough is good, but the swirls really pack a ton of flavor worth aiming for if you can.

Fudge brownie swirl ^^
You want to avoid her nuts (her worst mix-in). They are boring, huge, and annoying.

Don't matter, there's like 10-15% actual ice cream lol

It seems there are many ice cream fiends on AM and there is talk about ice creams on several threads so I figured let's consolidate it in one thread for all things ice cream.

The Solution introduced me to premium ice cream (Graeter's and Jeni's) and I have become an ice cream fiend. I rarely bought a tub of ice cream and now have 7 pints in my freezer.

I use to like Jennie’s. They are in my local super market. I just stared consuming fitscoop Icecream since I’m On Keto from my local Collective in San Diego California and I love it. Zero sugar and ultra low in carbs Invalid Link Removed

Jenis took a downhill slide now
Since the listeria craze plus they changed their manufacturing and profiles on their products. Won't ever taste as good as the OG

No crap. I use to like creamastry, I think you spell it like that but now that I'm on keto I'm limited in ice cream and only a handful are keto friendly. At the la fit expo there was a keto booth that had a decent frozen treat but not really icecream. I just saw at the regular store halo top. Not really keto ratio but looks good.

Graeter's Oatmeal Raisin Cookie:
Grade: B+
Invalid Link Removed

"Crumbles of oatmeal and raisins in our rich, creamy ice cream with a subtle dusting of cinnamon."

Invalid Link Removed

With Oatmeal Raisin Cookie it is almost like a pure cinnamon base due to how strong the "dusting" of cinnamon is. The cinnamon is very strong and packs a sugary aftertaste to give the oatmeal raisin cookie a brown sugar cinnamon vibe.

Invalid Link Removed

The mix-ins were were a 70/30 split of raisins to cookies. While I would of loved to have more cookies that is just how the cookie crumbles. The raisins are fresh and pack a sweet aftertaste to them. I at first thought these would be rock hard while frozen into the ice cream, but I was wrong. The cookie pieces are good, fresh, and have the perfect chewy compliment to the raisins and base.

Graeter's Peanut Brittle (Initial Review)
Grade: B

Invalid Link Removed

.
"Peanut Brittle flavored ice cream loaded with crunchy, candied peanuts"
.
Base: The Peanut Brittle base is very similar to the Peanut Butter on Graeter's Ice Cream line. The difference is this has a stronger kick of saltiness that some consumers would greatly appreciate. This enhances the fantastic base.
.
Mix-Ins: candied peanuts are chunked up and consistent in each and every bite. The extra sweetness in the aftertaste give you a luscious vibe that pairs well with the base. Some chunks are larger then others due to the French pot processing method of creating Graeter's signature ice cream.

"salt honey base with clusters of chocolate covered potato chips and house made honeycomb candy.

Invalid Link Removed

The salted honey base is phenominal from first bite to last. What I really enjoy in the salt honey base is the amount of salt added. This helps enhance the flavor of the sweet honey, which is like picking fresh nectar from a bee hive.

Invalid Link Removed

The first bite entailed a massive chocolate chip covered potato chip that was almost the size of a Graeter's Chocolate Chip. At some points I was eating just pure chocolate covered potato chips and honey comb candy. The beauty of the mix-ins is they pack flavor, and the potato chips did not get soggy.

Sunday is National ice cream day!

and new Game of Thrones...
What a time to be alive! Another Bonus flavor review ill be tossing up for Graeters!

which ones you try so far? I am so skeptical of them lol.

I saw Kawartha cookie butter & cotton candy today too - I had the Cookie butter and it was average, passed on the CC

Didn't you already review the Graeter's S'mores ?

Perhaps I will also have some S'mores

Initial review
Got 3 scoops to bring home

Graeters cannot hand pack pints in store it violates a code of conduct from the company. When I go to graeters I get one scoop in store to try of bonus flavor and then bring 3-4 home and put in an empty container . Their scoops are like 150g in weight... no joke

Oh you're right to be skeptical, not on the same level as their "Loads Of" line

I do shop on a taste vs. calories scale though so I am used to the low cal brands

I've had:
Invalid Link RemovedInvalid Link RemovedInvalid Link RemovedInvalid Link RemovedInvalid Link RemovedInvalid Link RemovedInvalid Link Removed

The coolest sounding ones (like Watermelon Crunch, the CC, the sour gummy swirl) were all pretty boring and not worth it sadly.

I rarely repurchase these but if I do I will grab an Elk Crossing or one of the chocolate crunch tubs, they are worth the calories to me

The ones with nuts as mix ins I would pass on, you get next to none in each tub

Happy National Ice Cream Day!!!

Graeter's S'mores:
Grade: A-
Invalid Link Removed

"Graham Cracker ice cream, with signature chocolate chips, and Marshmallows".

Invalid Link Removed

. The ice cream is rich, bold, and packs a subtle cinnamon flavoring in the aftertaste. Since Graeter's is not known to use graham cracker as a base this was truly unique. In 2016 they used a marshmallow base for S'mores, but this was a much better upgrade.

Invalid Link Removed

The signature chocolate chips were back and as good as ever in this flavor. In 2016 they were smaller then what I did experience in this upgraded version. The density & size were both larger then what was given in the previous year which was another upgrade just like the base. The mini marshmallows were nice. At first I thought they may be rock hard, but that is not the case. They were soft, moist, and had a luscious aftertaste to them.

I don't think the CC will impress me enough for me to buy anymore. I'll stick to the "loads of".

Get the Maple cookie sandwiches posted above - worth it x5!

Ample Hills Harry & Eigel’s Marbled & Malted
Grade: B
Invalid Link Removed

"Chocolate malted ice cream with pieces of Junior’s marbled cheesecake and chocolate crushed malt balls."

Invalid Link Removed

The chocolate malt base is very good. The milk chocolate flavoring is nearly identical to what is found in "The View" except the maltiness replaces the marshmallow. Malt is sugar that adds a toasty flavor, and it has the added benefit of preventing iciness in ice cream and creating a smooth, creamy texture

Invalid Link Removed

Junior marbled Cheesecake pieces were no joke in this pint. As you can see the size of them are massive. Some pieces I had were over an inch thick, but there was one downside. The pieces did come out lacking in density of flavor. While the size was nice, the quality of them was not a marbled cheesecake.
