Nootrol vs Nootropimax

Several studies have shown that coffee beats caffeine. Both in effect to overall wellbeing and strength.
I'm all for noots having a low dose so I don't have to reduce my coffee drinking.
This^

If I had 2 short blacks, I'd be more wired than any 300mg caffeine PWO.

Short black = 50-60mg caffeine?

Coffee also dehydrates me, which is odd. I don't get that from straight up caffeine.

We're starting to see a shift in the direction of consumers wanting less caffeine in their supplements, especially large doses.

Again, there are different options for different people, but you also have to consider the type of people who may be interested in taking a nootropic (student, businessperson, etc). Many of these people rely on energy drinks/shots or store-bought coffee, which can all be VERY expensive. Giving them a nootropic product that can replace their expensive caffeine source at a better price, while also providing far superior results (with effective doses of several nootropic ingredients) is a good thing, and the amount of caffeine isn't so high as to be prohibitive to having more caffeine/coffee during the day, either at another time or at the same time. Remember, studies have shown that 3-5 cups of coffee can be a "good" thing, and that comes out to a maximum of 350-600mg, depending on the caffeine content of your coffee, with the range being about 70-120mg per cup. The inclusion of a decent dose of caffeine can be big for someone looking to be able to take a nootropic without breaking the bank or allocating even more money to their energy/supplement budget; it seems possible that many people would rather replace one serving of their caffeine (energy drink, coffee, etc) than add another thing/supplement (a nootropic product) to it; saving money AND getting better results/effects instead of spending more money to get better results. There’s also a convenience factor here that many people, especially people who aren’t as involved or used to taking a plethora of supplements, in being able to take 1-2 pills for their energy, focus, cognitive, etc needs. It’s very easy to keep a few pills with you for the day and take them whenever you feel you need them, whether it’s when you’re on the go, at work, in class, etc. Also, it seems that people are enjoying it even at one capsule, which is only just a bit more than 1 cup of coffee, and I think I recall some loggers taking it with coffee and/or other things that contain caffeine.

Youve made it clear who your target market is.

its nearly impossible to create strong sense of focus and productivity without some sort of stimulation.
I just don't see how the 25mg difference in caffeine per cap is the issue between the two products for people. Lol nothing against Nootrol or anything of course, I will give it it's own chance once I'm finished with Nootropimax. It has a couple things I have never tried before that I'm looking forward to giving a shot.

Don't like that high dose of caffeine. At least nootrol is low

Nootrol has 25mg less per cap than Nootropimax from what I have seen. That is nothing unless you're super sensitive to caffeine in the first place.

Youve made it clear who your target market is.
No, I'm trying to allow people here to see it from a perspective that we may not think of. At the end of the day, it is a well-formulated supplement. It is NOT designed to be merely a replacement for an energy drink, although it is certainly a much better option. It is in no way just a ton of caffeine and stimulants with a dusting of "nootropics" like many other products; it is profile with research supported ingredients and doses, ingredients and doses shown to be effective in healthy humans, and works via many MoAs, both acutely and with continuous use, and many ingredients have demonstrated synergy with each other, including the caffeine. This is not pandering to the masses, or watering anything down by any means. Hell, it has less caffeine and stimulants than many other nootropics. Are you complaining about pre-workouts that have caffeine since coffee is "better?" Not everyone wants to take, and spend more money on, more than one thing at a time for one purpose.

Also, as I mentioned earlier, NootropiMax was designed as a whole, with synergy in mind. We truly feel that it is more than the sum of its parts, and research on the ingredients indicates this as well. With that in mind, and that several ingredients have demonstrated synergy with caffeine, it is necessary to include the caffeine for the ideal/optimal effects and synergy. Why include ingredients that will only really shine with caffeine, as well as potentate the caffeine itself, and then go out and say "oh, add the caffeine yourself." This is an all-in-one energy/focus/cognitive/nootropic product, with no need to add a ton of different things, although it still allows flexible dosing, and the caffeine content is not too high as to be prohibitive of having additional caffeine/coffee throughout the day. Edit: Also, I showed research that supports my assertion that daily caffeine consumption, even a significantly higher dose than what's in NootropiMax, appears to not only not be detrimental to long-term cognition, but may preserve cognition, and made mention of some MoAs that may be responsible for this.

This isnt true. There is 50mg per cap in Nootrol so 100mg per day.

There is 300mg in Nootropimax 50% of which is promoted as being a long lasting form of caffeine. So 300mg compared to 100mg and 150mg of the 300 lasts longer than regular caffeine meaning its effects will likely stack with multiple doses.
Again nothing wrong with caffeine. I love it personally. Just a different formula approach. Our goal was to have caffeine as a barely noticeable addition and to allow for evening dosing.

So there may be more caps per dose in Nootropimax. I dont know. But its certainly not a 25mg difference per dose.
Its a 300mg to 100mg total with 50% being long acting. HUGE difference.

Its 260mg caffeine per serving vs 100mg

110mg of which comes from a longer lasting form but there are multiple ingredients that smooth the effects of caffeine that also potentiate its effects on focus and concentration.

Oops, not sure what I was thinking. Lol

This was a huge deal for me as well. Daily doses of caffeine cause more harm than good in my opinion.
A small dose release less stress hormones and prevents the crash associated with larger doses. Anything more than 100mg for me and I crash hard.
Not exactly productive. For me. There isnt enough caffeine in Nootrol to cause the crash and not enough to raise stress hormones to much and not enough to cause adrenal fatigue and not enough to cause addiction etc etc etc. Too much of a good thing can be a bad thing.
I realize that the Nootropimax guys disagree with this and thats ok. Thats why we have different brands with different products. Not everything fits everyone.

Same here. The difference in caffeine in the products is very significant. I don't want to start my day with 300mg of caffeine. 100mg is fine.

Clear edge has no caffeine and it's an amazing product.

It isn't 300mg of caffeine, since dicaffeine malate isn't 100% caffeine. Also, some people enjoy splitting the daily serving into two doses (about 130mg caffeine per pill), or even only taking one pill a day.

Its basically 150mg pure caffeine + 100mg theanine vs. 100mg pure caffeine.

As known the effects of pure caffeine will ware off in 2-3 hours but nootropimax has an additional 110mg of extended caffeine so where one product may drop off after a few hours, the other will continue up to 6-8 hours later.

People need to look at the entire formula and all the dynamics in the way it functions, not just simplistic or individual numbers in a formula that has 10 ingredients etc.

just want to point something out about coffee and caffeine.

coffee has a blunted adrenaline response when compared to caffeine at rest in humans, likely due to the chlorogenic acid found in coffee. Cholorgenic acid antagonizes the adenosine receptor binding of caffeine.

Going out on a limb here and guessing the BLR pre workout has 100mg caffeine per serving or less?

Personally I dont take a pre but the current projected Pre workout product formula has 0. This may change depending on the success of in dev ingredients but for 100% certain our pre wont be stimulant based. I disagree with the high stim pre workout formulation model. Plus lots of people dont like huge doses of caffeine and other stims. Id rather have a really solid pre with no stims and allow the user to decide if they want to take a stim on their own. This way no person is excluded because of huge stim doses.

I just assumed it would have caffeine since the fat burner has 200mg caffeine per serving.

Seems odd with all your comments on daily caffeine intake being negative yet pushing a product that would recommend daily use of 200 mg of caffeine plus other stims.

The sentence Daily doses you highlighted was a mistype. I tend to write quickly and often from my phone so I dont re read. It should read HIGH daily doses. A small amount of caffeine, even daily isnt bad. It can be beneficial for many reasons. Its high doses that tend to lead to problems. Again this is my opinion. You dont have to agree. TONS of people consume ~300mg caffeine daily.
And, Im curious, what product do I push with 200mg caffeine plus other stims? I think perhaps your mistaken. It could be justified in a fat burner (which we dont have in our lineup) where stims are used, short term, for fat loss specifically but Nootropics and fat burners are not the same. While I realize ALOT of people will take high doses of caffeine, adderall and modanifil and even meth with the thought that they increase productivity anyone who has used these things long term knows the perils are many. It does seem like your formula is geared more toward the people who would prefer CNS stimulation and there isnt anything wrong with this. My goal is to make a product that doesnt rely on stimulants. If someone wants to use some stims with Nootrol, fantastic. If not the product works exceptionally well without them.

I was just going off of what is on your website: Invalid Link Removed Again just found it odd that you commented daily caffeine intake does more harm then good, but then have a product listed on your website that recommends up to 400mg caffeine per day. At least with Nootropics there is an acute effect so it may not be necessary to dose everyday, however for a fat burner, for any real benefits it must be consumed daily for extended periods of time. I only bring this up as your previous comments seemed to really concentrate on the negatives of daily caffeine intake, so you can see the contradiction.

I think he's referring to BLR Incinderine, which I was able to find on your website; I'm not sure if it's not in your lineup anymore though. I also think there is some confusion in this thread over subjective terminology and semantics. Also, if you see my previous posts addressing the topic, you'll see that it appears that reasonable doses of caffeine (3-5 cups of coffee worth of caffeine is a number that often comes up, or up to 350-600mg, depending on the caffeine content of the cup of coffee) may actually preserve cognition, and I also mentioned the MoAs that can be responsible for these protective benefits of caffeine. The ~260mg of caffeine in NootropiMax is NOT a "high dose" of caffeine in this context, and it doesn't really even leave the "reasonable" or "potentially beneficial" range even if you have another cup or two of coffee in the same day. And really, you're going to compare caffeine with meth? That's the epitome of hyperbole. Even comparing caffeine to Modafinil is not really a fair comparison, as there is an absolute dearth of information on the safety and effects of long term Modafinil (or any finil) use compared to our knowledge of the long-term effects of caffeine. Also, while there is a decent amount of caffeine in NootropiMax, I do not think it is accurate or fair to say it is something that is "reliant" on stimulants, as even if you take out the caffeine, it is still an effective formula that includes effective doses of several well-researched nootropics that have actually been found to work in healthy, non-elderly individuals (which is one problem I see with a lot of nootropics; extrapolating the benefits in disease states or cognitive impairment to healthy populations). At the end of the day, I agree with you that we just have different approaches to formulation, and that's only good for the consumer, who has more quality options. We are all entitled to our opinions, and I respect that completely, but I just don't see the argument to be made that moderate caffeine consumption (equivalent to 3-5 cups of coffee) is something that is detrimental to long-term cognition. Abusing caffeine, we see some people having upwards of a gram a day, sure, that's not the best idea, but even 400-500mg/day wouldn't really fall into this range for most healthy individuals.

Been on Nootrol for two todays now. Good mood and slight focus increase is what I notice so far. I'm looking forward to getting a few more days in but so far I enjoying it.

I see. Yes we did previously have a fat burner with 100mg caffeine per pill. Incinderine has been discontinued. Perhaps a year ago or so.
But I think the confusion lies not in other products having caffeine but in the type of product we are talking about.
Fat burners will likely have stims, often alot of them and while they do help you burn fat all of the negatives of taking stimulants long term will eventually appear. This of course is accepted with fat burner use because stims work so well for fat loss and are generally used short term.
But we are not in a fat burner thread we are in a nootropic thread and talking (I was at least) specifically about nootropics. Caffeine for fat loss works well. It is particularly good with certain thing that have synergistic effects. I still dont recommend taking it long term. Fat burners should be cycled like any other tool we use for physiques that carry side effects.

Nootropics, or ours at least, is intended for long term use to increase brain function and health. We want people to be able to take Nootrol every day for as long as they want without any negatives. And keep in mind the whole point is just to explain why we dont use alot of stims or caffeine in Nootrol.

Its simple, the research and science does not support your opinion but of course were all allowed to have our own opinions. As a company focused on research and science we clearly do not agree with your statements on caffeine, and the research supports our stance. We can simply agree to disagree

I understand your reasoning for not including caffeine in your nootropic, but, as I've already said multiple times, I do not believe that moderate daily caffeine consumption is detrimental to long term cognition, and provided some studies/papers, as well as MoAs, to support my assertions. Also, you really compared caffeine to amphetamines and a relatively new synthetic drug? As I said before, regular caffeine consumption, within reason (see the 3-5 cups of coffee equivalent), seems to not only not be detrimental to long term cognition, but may even benefit or preserve cognition over time.

I dont think my statement compared meth to caffeine. I merely stated that lots of people take stimulants and then listed a few. There was no intention or verbiage that implied caffeine = meth. The point is, lots of people take stims. Lots of people like stims. From my point of view they shouldnt be in a nootropic but TONS of people disagree with this. The proof of this lies in the widespread use of things like adderal and modanifil for their "nootropic" effects.
I didnt want Nootrol to be a stimulant.
Different strokes for different folks.

I still assert that you are incorrect in your claims that moderate daily caffeine consumption is detrimental to long term cognition. I understand your reasoning for not including caffeine in the formula, and some people want to keep their caffeine intake lower and/or take time off using caffeine, but I do not believe that one of these potential reasons is preserving long term cognition. Yes, different strokes for different folks, but let's not ignore the science; you can justify your decision in other ways. I also do explicitly state moderate/responsible caffeine consumption, not upwards of a gram that some people are taking every day. 400mg, sometimes up to 500mg, per day is what I try to limit myself to.
