2016 NFL Thread

I wonder if Dez was taking notes when he watched that catch that Cook made. I know he has a real issue catching passes in clutch situations.

Pittsburgh vs KC
The Steelers continue the win streak as the 3 B's Shine.
170 yards on the ground for bell, 100 in the air for AB, an Ben had a good game.
KC Is known to keep teams out of the endzone and the Steelers had to settle for 6 field goals to win this game.
Very well played defensive game on both sides of the ball. The Steelers just simply wore them down in the end and had almost 400 yards of total offense compared to KC's 227.
a W is a W, even though it was close the Divisonal playoffs are over

Pittsburgh @ New England
Green Bay @ Atlanta

A bigger problem for Dallas ATM

Free Agency:
Defense: Claiborne, Church, Carr, Gachkar, McClain, Durant, J Crawford, Wilcox
Offense:Leary, Dunbar, Sanchez, McFadden, Escobar, Williams, Moore

^^^^ Better hope a lot of them come back, if not you will spend your draft drafting all defense.

Predictions for this weekend?

I am a steeler fan but winning in NE will be very hard. The 3 B's will have to be firing and brady will need to turn the ball over. Our defense has looked great, but we are playing one of the best teams/coaches in their home stadium. I think it will be a close game like 24-17 in the end, but could go either way based off turnovers. I give the edge to NE and I have a feeling they will be favored by 3-7 Points.

Steelers win if:
- Ben and AB can connect for big plays
- Steelers play steeler football and pound the run game and control the clock by keeping brady off the field. Bell to rush for 100+ yards
- Pressure brady into turnovers or mistakes

NE Wins if:
- Control the clock and keep Ben off the field
- Outcoached, they will have a game plan for the 3 B's
- Get to ben, and cause pressure. If Ben can scramble and make plays NE may give up some big plays.

ATL vs GB
Both teams are screaming hot. This will be a shootout. My question is what defense will show up and shine? Rodgers will get Jordy nelson back which is huge for GB and their offense. ATL has a duo threat running the ball and a deadly pass game. Again this game should be just as good as the AFC Game.

GB Wins:
- Rodgers continues his streak and good play
- Find a way to run the ball and keep ryan off the field
- Control the line of scrimmage and keep julio from making big plays.

ATL Wins:
- Get up early and get the crowd behind them
- find a way to pressure rodgers
- Force turnovers which GB has not done a lot of lately.

I think Atlanta wins a shootout.

Steelers is a tough matchup. I think the Chiefs had a better chance of beating NE, but the Steelers have the better chance of matching up with ATL.

Any matchup in New England in the playoffs is tough.
Weather should be good for the game (mid 40's) and no rain/snow.
Just hope the Steelers can run the ball, control the clock and keep brady off the field.

Im leaning towards Atlanta Vs New England myself.

I swear man, I think Earl Thomas, was right. New England always have the easiest route. They have one hard game(this week) to win at home to go to the SB. Don't get me wrong they are a great team, but damn man they seem to have it easier than a lot of other good teams.

Thats why you go for the 1 seed.

That's why I like to draft their Defense in Fantasy Football. Their division is full of weak offenses which leads to consistently solid performance.

They've had it easy the last 20 yrs haha

15*

They are gifted 6 wins each season because the Dolphins, Bills, and Jets are consistently terrible.

Dolphins made the playoffs last time I checked:dance: Lets be serious though, Earl Thomas was probly the last person in the world who shouldve made that comment. That division has been garbage for years until recently.

Are you high?

Cards were a SB contender just last season. Hawks have been one of the NFLs best teams for the last 5 years. 49ers were in the SB just a few years ago.

Let's also not forget that the Texans were in the playoffs this year, and, as a native Houstonian, I will be the first to tell you they were not good. This year's crop was weak with only a few legitimately strong teams, especially in the AFC.

I should've said up until recently that divisions been good. Before that though, trash. I think Seattle took the division with a 7-9 record in like 2010? That division is good now though, even though Seattle won it with a 10-5-1 record this season haha.

The AFC though, weak AF. I will agree with you there.

I like how you edited it to say "until recently."

Guess what? Thomas was drafted in 2010. His entire NFL career has been against strong division opponents.

Also, just for fun, this was the Pats schedule this season:

Cards
Phins
Texans
Bills
Browns
Bengals
Steelers (w/o Ben)
Bills
Hawks
9ers
Jets
Rams
Ravens
Broncos
Jets
Phins
Texans (post season)

Lots of tough, tough, matchups there.

Toughest game was against broncos as they were faltering

Edit: I guess you could argue dolphins if you want, but let's be real, that is an easy schedule

The more I watch, the more I like Pat Mahomes. Even though he played in an air raid offense, the dude has NFL talent.

Would take in first for NYG

Ravens is a decent matchup, they had a strong defense and mostly competent offense this season.

Hawks was a tough game. I believe that was in Seattle too. Seattle also won that game.

You're right, Seattle was. Still cake schedule compared to say NFC East

49ers plan to offer Kyle Shanahan head-coaching job
Jerry Jones: 'Several cards to be played' before call on Tony Romo ... Even with 2 years left on his contract

Interesting:
Three weeks after the Buffalo Bills fired Rex Ryan and he drove away in his pickup truck adorned with the Bills' logo, his ride apparently has a new and unsurprising theme: Clemson.

I don't know what it is about him, but I actually really like Rex. I hope he does well where ever he goes.

WR Amari Cooper will sit out the Pro Bowl with an undisclosed injury, a source confirmed, joining LT Donald Penn (knee), QB Derek Carr (ankle) and DE/OLB Khalil Mack (undisclosed injury) as Raiders skipping the NFL's all-star game, which moved from Hawaii to Orlando this year.

Cool News:

The 4 QB scheduled to start this weekend -- Tom Brady, Ben Roethlisberger, Matt Ryan and Aaron Rodgers -- have combined to win seven Super Bowls, the most on any Championship weekend since the 1970 Merge

The winner of the Steelers-Patriots game on Sunday will play in their 9th Super Bowl, more than any other franchise.

You mean the 3 QBs combine for that.

ESPN stating it doesn't make it any less stupid to add an extra QB who's never even been to the big game.

Its just how they implicate it. Sure one has not been there, but between the 4 (excluding the one who has made it) they just counted up the SB rings.

You could say 3 have made it or 4 have made it, in the end its just a statistic. Nothing to lose sleep over. Take it up with ESPN haha

Haha, he's a local guy. I know some people who are friends with him. He's a comedian, I'm not sure how successful he is, but the tattoo, as stupid as it is, probably helped him get more exposure, if he has the talent to take advantage of it.

The Seattle Seahawks may lose their second-round pick in the 2017 NFL draft as a result of their failure to disclose a knee injury to Pro Bowl cornerback Richard Sherman, league sources tell ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

Manziel will make his first announced promotional appearance since leaving the NFL next month. He will sign autographs in two memorabilia shops at Texas malls during Super Bowl week.

Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan addressed reports about him becoming the next head coach of the San Francisco 49ers, saying nothing is official but acknowledging a mutual interest.

Former New York Jets star Mark Gastineau, one of the NFL's most feared pass-rushers in the 1980s, said Thursday night he's battling serious brain issues he believes were caused by concussions in football.

The Cleveland Browns are close to signing linebacker Jamie Collins, and a deal could come as soon as Friday, according to a league source.

Re-signing Collins was an offseason priority. The Browns acquired him midway through the 2016 season in a trade with New England for what likely will be a third-round compensatory pick. CBSSports.com first reported the imminent deal.

Colts fire GM Ryan Grigson; Chuck Pagano to remain coach'

Packers receivers Jordy Nelson, Davante Adams and Geronimo Allison are each listed as questionable for Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the Falcons in Atlanta. Nelson is two weeks removed from suffering broken ribs in the wild-card round against the Giants. Adams sprained his left ankle in the divisional-round win over the Cowboys, and Allison injured his hamstring against Dallas.

Of the three, only Nelson participated in a practice this week, although he wasn't in pads like the rest of the team.

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has been fined a total of $21,615 for his actions during and after last week's 18-16 playoff loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, a source confirmed to ESPN.

The Los Angeles Chargers have agreed to terms on a contract with Gus Bradley to be their defensive coordinator, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Bradley, who was fired as Jacksonville Jaguars coach in December with two games left in his fourth season, was a hot commodity as a defensive coordinator candidate. He also drew interest from the Washington Redskins and San Francisco 49ers

New England Patriots tight end Martellus Bennett and wide receivers Chris Hogan and Malcolm Mitchell, all listed as questionable on the injury report, are expected to play in Sunday's AFC Championship Game, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

I don't really care for any team left. I'd pick Steelers out of the 4.

I will root for Dean Lowry of the Packers. He is from the city I grew up in.

ATL Just blew out GB. Any momentum they had The hawks put a very fast halt too.
Wow.. just WOW. Been saying it all along. They will be the darkhorse in the playoffs, and they are on a roll.

I expected a high scoring victory for Atlanta, but not a blowout like that. Jesus.

Steeler game ain't much better. Bell not playing at all. AB is playing decent... Just the defense did not show up.
Steelers don't want to cover Hogan. AT ALL. Some plays nobody is on that guy. No wonder he has 180 yards lol

2 great games

Not saying that to rag in anyone's teams bc mine got rocked in the first round. Just sucks so many blow outs this playoffs

Atlanta gonna blow out the pats in the bowl too probably

I hope not.

I hate to root for the Pats, but I really don't want ATL to win.

Steelers vs NE:
Brady is way too much for the Steelers D. Hogan was open all game long, and in some cases uncovered.
Bell was injured with a groin very early in the first and never returned. AB was held to under 100 yards and Ben had a costly interception, and there was a huge overturned TD early in the first half. A fumble did not help the Steelers case either.
NE Dominated on offense and left the Steelers defense confused from the first series.
