I believe Metformin reduces test in diabetic men....not sure of its effects on the healthy though...
Good to know, thanksNot sure if they are still a board sponsor, but SHP sells bulk berberine hcl capped. 400mg x 60 caps per bottle. If you sign up for their mailing list, and time it right, they occasionally have it 30% of regular price plus you can take another 10-20% off with whatever discount code is active during that time. That is when I stock up on the stuff. Comes out to under $6 or less for 24g capped. Pretty good deal and convenient. I order a lot of my basic staples from there as well. Good prices when on sale and e****lent customer service.
Good to know, thanks
In which case it's chromium, iodine and brown seaweed... I'm not terribly familiar with the last one, but that being the case I have a hard time believing it's anything amazing if none of us have really used it or even seen it in anything else.

EBF had it in AAv2 as well I thinkThe Brown Seaweed is probably Fucoxanthin - actually has some good data on it for fat loss, and also mediates glucose metabolism in musle tissue. Check Examine. Analyzed had it in Lipovate. It has to be taken continuously for a long time though (5-16 weeks) before benefits are realized.
Who are SHP?
Swansons
Is Berberine worth adding to my home made GDA?
Using right now with my first meal of the day:
300mg Na-R-ALA
1g Agmatine
2g ALCAR
Good thread!
OP, I just want to say that I think it's e****lent you've found something (particularly with some basic ingredients you're able to assemble on your own for a reasonable price) that has had such an impact for you.
My dad is type 1.5 diabetic (weird auto-immune disorder version that hangs out between the two), so I may try to work on something similar with him.

I personally would only use Berberine a few times a week.
Also, have you thought about splitting up the Agmatine and ALCAR into two 500mg Agmatine and 1000mg ALCAR dosing?
How come, may I ask?
No, I have not thought about it. I am dosing as Mr.Cooper suggest in this thread: Invalid Link Removed
But I do take 1g Agmatine with my post workout meal. So 2g Agmatine ED.
Cool post. Have you experimented with Apple Cider Vinegar and Cinnamon? The ACV oddly only works when taken before a complex carb meal according to the research. I stopped taking Cinnamon because of the Coumarin and I wasn't going to pay for Ceylon, so I haven't kept up on that research. I'm surprised you haven't looked at Berberine? (There are downsides though with cAMP and Hypertrophy).
Worst sheeple buzz phrase in recent history. Life was so much better 7-8 years ago when no one was using it for every other sentence.I can attest to this personally, as I have found through my experience with Burn24. The great thing is a few times a week is still enough to see results. Truly a great ingredient/product.
I definitely noticed exactly this. A halting of gains, or even a bit of a step backwards. Regardless, Burn24 was a game changer for me in terms of fat loss, so depends on what your goals are. Nothing good in life comes easy or cheap lol.
ceylon isnt even that much money, i go through a pound every 2 months its like 16 bucks U cant even by the chit stuff for that cheap in the supermarket

The anti-hypertrophy effects people claim to experience from berberine are more likely to be nocebo
Haha sheeple, that word was a game changer for me during highschool
I saw that! I may go back to eating it. Thanks.
Actually berberine has been shown to decrease protein synthesis.
I've stated this before, but if only using Berberine 1-3 times per week, I wouldn't worry about its negative impact on hypertrophy or body composition via activation of AMPK as long as one is lifting heavy.
If dosing Berberine daily for a longer period of time, it will have a negative impact on body composition. Been listening to quite a few podcasts on some well respected individuals thoughts on Berberine and their anecdotal feedback -- all come back stating once they dropped the frequency of dosing, they noticed much better body composition and performance in the gym.
so the general consensus is that Berberine is bad for hypertrophy so shouldn't be dosed anywhere near training, and also shouldn't be used daily?
a question for the group but to help the OP...
would it be beneficial to add Gymnema Sylvestre to his current stack of
Na-R-ALA
ALCAR
Agmatine or
would that not be necessary? advantages / disadvantages to doing so? Ill admit Im curious for myself as well.
There comes a time when one must wonder by how much these things occur and to what extent. Especially in humans.
I feel that way about "GDA"s in general for 9x% of the lifting population. Carbs to Fat is not an easy, efficient process that the body likes to undertake - it much prefers to just store excess dietary fat for the upcoming famine. Large surplus' aside (and forget about deficits/maintenance combined with heavy lifting/cardio), I think the *fear* of De Novo Lipogenesis is greater than the reality.
Agreed. Definitely. Sounds like a lyle thing
but then I dont like excess CHO floating in my blood stream constantly, with lipoprotein interaction and all
Nah, I agree there about constant CHO. I admit it, I'm a research zealot and I'll try out anything that was reasonably conducted. A few months ago I read a pretty good one on Skewed CHO in the AM/Noon and ZERO after that - in reference to the bodies utilization of stored fat. So I've been doing that with success (ie. no performance loss - no idea on fat, what with the 20 other "fat loss" things I take). I also do Apple Cider Vinegar with the AM/Noon (complex) carbs, so I can't say I'm 100% against some sort of "GDA" - just not much more $'s than a bottle of Vinegar and maybe some Ceylon per month![]()

Just a heads up... was browsing Swansons. Looks like Berberine is on sale with an additional 15% off right now. Might pull the trigger on these.
Is there a code for the extra 15%?
