Coconut & caramel sounds like a fun one to try.

Generally I like the core series less than standard pints so far though.

I had one really good pb and one CB but when I had a second of each they were both meh. Def hit or miss.

I'm about that cheesecake tho. The regular cheesecake brownie was a bust

I'd like it if done right

Last BnJ Cheesecake pint I had was a let down

Don't waste your time.. Brownie batter was 7/10 at best.
Core went about half way through, and the base (Choc/Vanilla) of BnJ is meh...

I won't revisit the other 2 flavors. The cheesecake core got 6-7/10 ratings from a few sources. The only cores that really were worth the scoop IMO Were PB Cookie Core and PB Fudge Core.
The brownie batter core is good, but it was about 3 bites. I heard the cheesecake core in the Cookies and cream tastes like a sweetened vanilla. I was hoping to hear it tasted like Cake my day's base which was fantastic IMO

Gonna grab some more Ample Hills for the time being.

I really like the PB Cookie Core & Spec Cookie Core, so much so I bought them again yesterday in Port Huron along with some I have not tried (Boom Chocolatta, Straw Cheesecake & Tonight Dough). I also grabbed le Turkey Hill Coconut crème pie...high hopes!

Tonight Dough is Solid, it's up in Canada now too, 7-11 here has them

I picked up the Kroger brand coffee and donuts flavor and fried ice cream flavors... They were on blowout for $1.49 each for a half gallon so why not ha. Took a scoop of both just to try and I'm actually very impressed. Coffee is ok, donut bits are decent sized but not very flavorful... I'm not a huge coffee fan tho so others might really enjoy this. Fried ice cream is actually really good. The cookie chinks are also fun and flavorful. I'm pretty excited to eat a bunch of this one

Straw Cheesecake is meh.. Boom Chocolatta is alright if your a diehard chocolate fan. But lets be real.. nothing touches the old Jeni's Chocolate (before the listeria Craze)

pb cookie core will be worth the scoop you should enjoy it. Spec is not the greatest, its pretty mediocore . I enjoyed Steve's much more

I forgot I have Steve's spec in my freezer ha, maybe should try it this weekend.

Ample hills no longer has the deal with Disney for fhe 4 pack ample hills you should be able to order individually off site soon

Nice, waiting on those reviews

Nice, waiting on those reviews

Both sound promising:

The Light Side: a bright marshmallow ice cream with homemade crispie clusters, as well as a smattering of handmade cocoa crispies (to represent the dark side still lurking within the light)

**Similar to Snap Mallow Pop**

The Dark Side: by contrast, is an ultra-dark chocolate ice cream with espresso fudge brownies, cocoa crispies, and white chocolate pearls (to represent the light still hiding in the dark, waiting to burst through)

Brownies and white chocolate pearls sound legit.

Invalid Link RemovedInvalid Link Removedthis is probably the best thing I've come across in a very long time. I figured it would be ok at best as its low cal and a new brand but holy cow if this wasn't one of the top 5 best ice creams I've ever had. Caramel swirl and oatmeal cookies all through the super sweet caramel ice cream. Unbelievably good. Only knock is that it's not super creamy (Obv with the low cals) but it doesn't even matter as the taste and mix ins are off the charts. I'll probably go back and get all the other flavors they make (found at sprouts)

Also took a few scoops out of some b&j's I picked up bogo: the cheesecake core and s'mores (never had before). Smores was incredible. Huge swirl of graham right at the top too which was awesome (prob won't be any further down tho). The cheesecake core was meh at best. Core itself isn't all that flavorful and the choc and cheesecake ice creams are the same average ones that they've always been. Even as a huge cheesecake fan, this and the cc brownie both were c's at best.

I had a second Comfy Cow pint - 1st was Banana Puddin Yall (weeks ago) and Southern Jam Cake. I really enjoyed both and I would say a solid B+ on both.

I'm not sure why all the hate on CC.

Mine had 0 mix-ins and the base was bland as hell. NEver again. Just like Phin and Phebes. Absolutely awful.

boone... Any chance they are better than AH or BnJ Oatmeal? That would be a bold statement.

Speaking of ridiculous you see the articles comparing halo top to Haagen Dazs? LOL

Ample Hills Rocky Mountain High:

Putting everything together Ample Hills re-did a rocky road flavor with a nice twist. My only gripe is the amount of marshmallows in this pint were minimal. I had a total of 3 mini-marshmallows, but I had a good dose of thick, dense, and delicious brownies. The marshmallows were not as thick as Gelato Fiasco S'mores or Jeni's Rocky Road. The consistency of Ample Hills is usually on point from top to bottom filled with mix-ins, but unfortunately after the half way point I was left with just the base. Besides a slight hiccup in the consistency the base, the features in this pint were done well. I suggest scooping this flavor if they ever did bring it back.

Grade: B

I am getting a decent amount of mix-ins and the bases are far from bland. (2 for 2 here)...You got screwed man lol

Never had either of them. Ample I'll try if I ever get a chance but I know b&j is dead.

And that's not far fetched at all about the halo too. If you haven't tried them, do. I've had choc, van, and lemon cake and they're all stellar. Lemon cake is exactly like a lemon pound cake and one of the best unique flavored ice creams I've had.

Dan -- you have a website for that low cal one? I'd love to see if it's anywhere near here. Went out on a limb and tried a new pint of the Arctic Zero with double the cals over the originals in hopes that it would be better.

And what I realized is the taste isn't bad, but the consistency is so far from ice cream that I can't enjoy it. Even if you let it melt, it's just grainy. Its almost like eating clumps of sand. Just unenjoyable.

And the Kroger in house flavors have been very good so far. Just be cautious if getting any of the no sugar added ones for the same reasons as any other -- your bowels will cry. lol

I have had them and they taste like legit crap. It tasted like watered down artificial flavors. The company sent me two pitns on their dime to review them.

Gotta say your buds are broken then... They're solid. Nothing like Arctic.

Hadn't even looked but here it is: Invalid Link Removed there's a store locator too. I found that one at a sprouts.

for 5$ you get a frozen dessert bottled up with erythritol, prebiotic fiber, milk protein concentrate, organic cane sugar, vegetable glycerin, organic carob gum, organic guar gum, organic stevia.

i can easily throw together some almond milk and whey protein to make a vanilla or chocolate protein ice cream, it will taste as good if not better and be far cheaper. Or even mix a yogurt with whey protein and throw it into the freezer to get a high protein dessert with similar Macros.

By all means if you want to shell out the cash for something of that nature kudos to you. You could easily buy some low fat krogers ice cream for 1.50$ a pint and wash it down with a protein shake.

Ill stick to spending 5$ for a pint of Buckeye. I think Driven2lift is going to get some shortly :)

Thanks, bud.

I ended up looking around earlier and found it. Sadly nothing remotely close to me other than their chips lol. No interest in that!

All true (and the reason I make my own protein ice cream every single night) but some flavors are just nice to have as well as convenience on occasion. Can't always be at home with the ice cream maker and freezer

Smashed a pint of Tonight Dough on Sunday, so worth having grabbed again

Inb4 thesolution jumps in and disses DQ ice cream lmao.

Line was around the building on my way home.
DQ Is soft serve, it is not premium ice cream. I would rather pay 4$ for a pint of good ice cream then 4$ for a medium blizzard. Personal preference.

I can easily go to the grocery store and get a half gallon of generic ice cream and add my own reese cups or candy for cheaper and make nearly triple the amount of DQ

hell I got Wegmans Peanut Butter Cup for 2.50$ a few weeks ago. I would rather spend 4$ Smashing Cinnamon Buns, PB World, Everything But The, Chubby Hubby than spending it on a purchase from DQ. But again up to you. I value higher quality ice cream and would rather spend a few more bucks to get a better product.

I do like DQ though, because on a summer day I crave soft serve.

Maybe it's just an addiction to the nostalgia, been getting DQ as a kid after every sports game I played with my teams, or with my parents.

and all that ice cream didn't make me gain any weight lol. Twig kid until my mid teens

Gelato's are nice on a warm summer day too! Creamy, light, and delicious. wait till you try some of those talenti flavors i shot over your way. You will thank me later.

DQ Was good back in the day, until you go out on a limb and try every brand out there on the ice cream market.. lol
speaking of ice cream. Ample Hills Shipment coming in in a few days :)

this is the dumbest argument you could have presented... by this statement you've made yourself a complete hypocrite for buying $10-$12 jeni's and the like while saying that you could just "buy cheap and add mix ins"... With this logic, you could make like 20x the jeni's and not get listeria too

No Thanks ...Listeria is delicious!:icon_lol:

Hahahah there it is! Hey Cubsfan, I'm on my way to the gas station to pick up a lotto ticket... What numbers should I pick????

Nowhere in the discussion did he state or present Jeni's. he was talking about DQ.

If you like DQ to each their own. I personally would rather go buy some kroger pints for 1.50$ instead of spending 4$ on a blizzard from DQ. For the same price I can get hit a local custard place loaded to the brim with mix-ins for example:

Did you stop this year @ The arnold?
I was let down by the change . Black & White Cookies was meh... The Candied Pecan was ok (mix-ins) the base was pretty weak.

Graeter's on the other hand.Did not disappoint.

No, I didn't get a chance and since you said the newer flavours were meh I didn't really make an effort.
