I gave him a chance and voted for him the first time. I felt like he didn't live up to any of his promises, so I voted for somebody else the second time, despite the lack of options. As for now, I'm disappointed because of the potential, but his term is near over so I'm focusing more on who is next.

Me being from the south....the confederate flag problem is getting out of control down here. He should address that issue! Lol

I voted for him in 2008.

Fool me once....not again in 2012. Not thrilled by the options in 2016.

He makes me wish for George Bush, who was also a pretty terrible president. Just not as terrible.

Obama is proof that we need someone who is a successful person OUTSIDE of politics to be president for a while, or at least a long term successful governor rather than a senator.

of the options available i am leaning towards jeb bush....but i am not sure he could win a general election...actually i am not sure any republican could win---the black/hispanic/female/gay and lebian vote is almost guaranteed to be at least 60% democratic no matter who the candidates are, imo!!!

I will be stunned if it is not Hillary/Biden/O'Malley/Sanders. Whichever democrat comes out of the primaries will win. The best case for republicans will be to control the house

sadly, the demographics don't work in the color of red. Just wait for amnesty, and there wont be a republican president again in our lifetime

But when is that option ever truly given? It's always the lesser of two evils or the illusion of choice.

people only vote for what interests them.

In 2012, a neighbor, who is a bright woman, told me she was voting for Obama because he seemed like a nicer guy and she would rather go out to dinner with him than Romney. Made me laugh and be sad all at the same time

that is a very valid point....but given the way things have gone with obama it would be nice to see what changes for the better ANY republican could make...obama is so far left of center it is off the charts. be really nice to see someone more to the center!!!

Hopefully people are tired of family dynasties on both sides of the fence. Jeb and Hillary seem like a loophole to get something we already had.

like you said, options are very limited. i would take jeb or anyone else for that matter over hillary, i truly feel she would be very, very bad for this country!!!

be interesting to see what he could do as president...it will never happen!!!
His plan is very similar to his dads, Ron Paul. And having either one in the white house would have or will, pending elections, flip this country upside down. And dont say never. People said the same thing about him before he became senator of Kentucky. It was a shocker.

I have very mixed feelings on him, but would be willing to give him a chance. Felt the same way about his father.
I used to be the same way. But then I really looked into what they were preaching on social security, the federal reserve, inflation, etc etc etc. And it all made sense. From a political standpoint as well as a social standpoint. Do i agree with everything they say? Nah.

That's where I'm at now and with most elections in the past. It becomes a decisions between which issues I think are going to hurt me the least.

For some reason that reminds me of the prohormone bill that passed in December.I knows its totally unrelated to what we are discussing but... It was written up by a Repub and signed into law by a Dem. You would think Obama would have taken that opportunity to stick it to the Repubs by refusing to sign. But noooooo.. Just another reason for me to stay Independent Conservative lol.

We are not part of democracy anyway. So we have no say in what those in power decide for us.

A textbook, irony of democracy, presents everything very matter of fact. Elections are just something to make us feel better, so we have some feeling of involvement. The president is determined years in advance.
To be in a real democracy all the citizens would need to be well informed about ALL subjects. That would mean a reduction in the youtube videos of cats playing pianos. And it would mean more then 30 seconds of something important. So they must want an ill informed populace. When you posses power you tend to do anything to keep hold of it.
Everything has a purpose for their goals. We just keep the machine running while they put those plans in motion.

By definition I am pretty sure the United States is SUPPOSED to be a form of republic more than a democracy.

Republic yes. All of the 'news' programs like using the term democracy. It helps people to accept the majority rules concept.
