Oh I manage the weight and technique pretty tightly, you have to. I was only using 155 for the squats, 8 sets 40 seconds rest, 4 second eccentrics, with tired legs . You have to add all the factors into you weight choice. You're going to be trashed at the end even so.
 
Absolutely! I used 135 for the 21,14,10,21 back squat of phase one. I thought I was going to die LOL. Had to resort to a belt because my lower back was so tight and pumped.
When you look at your workout on tired legs, and then completing 40 seconds of squats (32 of those seconds in eccentric phase) and then only 40 seconds rest! That's crazy!! Not too often is there a work-to-rest ratio of 1:1 is used let alone for 8 continuous sets. Great work!!! Legs must be housing 90% of your entire blood volume!!

I just got a pair of Flexsolate straps. The idea behind them is to take grip out of the equation when doing various movements. What I found was that when I used them for pulling movements like pulldowns and cable rows I could literally outwardly move my arms, so that I could execute the "intention" even more. This could no doubt also be done with independent handles, but not having to worry about my grip or arms getting in the way of my back work was a great plus.
 
As an add-on to my last comment, I have been thinking of using bands hooked at my elbows when doing bench or db bench to really get the feel of the idea Ben said about imagining that you are trying to bring your elbows together instead of pushing the weights upward. I figure I can do this with just the bar and the bands wrapped around the cage at elbow height. I really want to get the feel of the "bringing elbows together" on a bench movement.

That might work. The only ting I don't like about taking the grip out is that the grip helps strengthen the forearms stabilizing the elbows.
 
Totally agree. I should add that I have been having brachioradialis issues so the relief on the grip is good for me.

Yahh that would be a good reason to use them I suppose. I had elbow problems the first time I ran it so had to go even lighter on a lot of lifts.
 
Will be a pretty heavy deadlift day depending on how beat up I am as they are at the end of the workout, 5 sets of 5 2 min. rest means big iron. I am still doing them eccentrically so that has to be factored in as well. Should be able to do the mid 300's though.

I just finished the first leg workout of phase two and I am seeing stars! I think there should be supersets of lying starfish and gasping for breath!
Luckily I have a home gym because there is no way I could have walked out of a gym and drove home LOL.

Yah they are fuggin nasty, I cramp up a lot as there are so many ways my legs were not getting the proper attention before ... and now all kinds of new sensation. Takes a real set of nuts to do these workouts....
 
Ok so just going to finish stage 5 then move on to a workout with less volume for a bit. Arial has 2 shows on Saturday so I don't really have time for overreaching this time around, plus I have gotten what I needed out of this round time to move on.

Prep should be starting pretty soon so I will have a new log up for that. Going to be a long slow prep as I am pretty heavy at around 228. I have to see where I stand. I know I added a lot of lean mass but some fat snuck in there as well, not too much but I need to start to clean up to reassess the situation and make sure I am on solid ground.
 
Awesome Doug, sounds like you have a good plan. What are you starting next? Can't wait to see some pics from the show.

Nice, once I am back fully on the mend I may give the MI40 X another try. I just have to be at least 95% before I try it again. Doing it when coming back from an injury was just too much. I love what it does and the hard work is something I enjoy.

Definitely, the program really taxes you and you have to on the money.

She is looking good. Is she doing novice or open class or both?
 
open in athletic model which she may end up being a bit too muscular for so we will play that down a bit. In the evening she is doing muscular physique which she will be all pumped up for. Remember in these pics she is deflated and still a bit watery so we will have her a lot more ripped for the night show. A bit tricky but she is very insulin sensitive which makes it easier.

Wow that is a pretty steep prediction. Have you seen any of the other competitors? I know she looks good but I have not followed the different classes of womens physique type stuff in years!!!!

Yah top 3 in the open get pro and she's already getting a lot of hype as a major threat. The owner of the org loves here and it was him that asked her to compete in this category. Otherwise yah It would be pretty bold. I have to tell you though, it's rare I see girls as well proportioned as her at these shows and she compares well with some of there existing pro's.

Fug she got railroaded, she destroyed the competition in the evening show and I almost feinted when the said 3rd, she was head over heels better than the competition. One of those you have to be in the club orgs. Tough pill to swallow but there are some things we are going to work on and she will go again next spring where she is going to be unstoppable. You get knocked down you get back up.
 
....I am sure she will push even harder, come back stronger and blow the competition off the stage - it is a shame though!
 
Well not sot focus on yours truly, I am a little pissed so that spells trouble for anything that gets in my way. First adjustment int diet. I am running a carb cycle 100 150 200 at around 2700 cals training days and 2400 non training days. Fats around 100 depending on carb intake. Yams rice and banana's are making up almost all carbs with some oats on higher days. I am still doing some lean read meats for now. Sort of just cruising for a month to discern where I am at and will adjust from there. Holding steady at 228 now. Will start supplementing Natadrol and Form XT next week. Will start a new log then.

Training is 4 days a week lighter volume but still intense. I am doing a lot of 1 and a half and one and 1/4 sets. These are really brutal in the lactic acid pain department. It's all pain with this one. Very effective this one, lots of clients made good gains on this alone. 5 weeks of this then back into about 5 to 6 weeks advanced GVT I am really anxious to lean out a bit and see how fuggin big I really am. I just know that I am way bigger but by how much ...we'll see. It's all on the line now, I have worked like a fuggin pic for 10 months so I better be fuggin good. Blood letting fuggin time!!!!
 
Awesome post, sounds like you have a nice plan of action ready. Sorry to hear about her not getting higher than 3rd but for a first show that is pretty good. Do you have any stage pics of her yet?
