Ever wonder what's actually in your supps?

Hey all, After some feedback and consideration, I've decided to stop updating this thread. While I love seeking truth, unfortunately, my head got the better of me and thought it would be wise to not rustle the supplement industry. Thanks for following along for the duration, though! From my experience, it seems all the supplements I'm currently taking seem like they contain what the label states. I wouldn't have any reason to believe otherwise.

That's fair enough man. Thanks for the info we got though :)

I wouldn't have any reason to believe otherwise.

that last statement you made 'i wouldn't have any reason to believe otherwise' sounds like it was made by someone that
just got the bejeesus scared out of them... did they get you bro...? :paranoid:

of course you have reason to believe otherwise.... so many companies have lawsuits against them for not putting what they
said is in the supplement or putting something completely different in said supplement. Recently they did tests in the UK
and found that companies were actually just putting DHEA in capsules and selling it as pro hormones and designer stearoids.

Years ago, they put viagra in over the counter herbal sexual enhancement pills...

Protein companies are putting cheap amino acids in their protein to spike their protein levels....

And it goes on and on and on,...

Check this out.... OXY ELITE PRO has prozac in it.... Invalid Link Removed

Good job pulling out early before this thread got too public. I'd probably go as much as deleting it but I think there was no damage done

So you can only test quality values but not quantitive?
Testing on transdermals requires much more than the that for accuracy which is why so many companies use them not
I can't speak for the OP but you can quantitate on these instruments. The only problem with that is, it does take some work and another source for comparison. You need a very good second source to build a curve from

I've been threatened with litigation several times before over my commentary about supplements.

You're generally pretty safe.

-This is a supplement forum, any discussion about supplements is fair comment on a matter of public interest
-Any conversation on supplements is invited by companies that participate on these forums by their presence here
-As you're doing the lab analysis yourself, you have sufficient reason to believe that the information you're posting is true.

You're good to go on numerous standard defenses against libel/slandar, and no lawyer worth a damn is going to see otherwise.

But most importantly, if you were to do a test, and a company were to contradict it with information of their own, you ultimately just have to post an acknowledgement that your information might not be correct.

Not sure if it will change your mind, but, taken from my own experience, and after consult with my own attorney numerous times over the years, I feel pretty free to speak my mind and post whatever information I want without fear of repercussions, by just staying within the law.

Well that may be true a simple investigation of where you tested your products from can mean termination at your current job or school

You've been threatened with legal action? Lol I'm sure there are thousands upon thousands of people who have questioned the legitimacy of a supplement. Considering this is an anonymous forum how exactly would they plan on pursuing that? What if you lived in Africa or the Middle East?

You don't have to post any studies at all actually you can just run your tests for your own personal info. You can always just relay info with subliminal messaging like " oh I did some research on this supplement and I just don't care for it much. Just make sure you use words like "in my opinion." Either way i understand if you want to back off. When people are backed into a corner they run for their pathetic lawyers. It's a cowardly move and indirectly implies guilt if you ask me

I believe Chromadex is doing tests on some of the products mentioned here so it will be interesting to see how they compare to the results posted

If you think you're anonymous on the internet.....Well I just don't know what to say...

If you've been around few years, ever been sent product by a rep/company, someone has your info.

People change companies, everyone knows each other, it's a small world.

Never make the mistake of assuming you're anonymous or that things you say can't have repercussions.

To be clear, I wasn't threatened or coerced into anything. It comes down to the fact that I felt as though the cons outweighed the pros in this particular case. Sure, I could be subtle and relay my opinions, but I guess I blame it on me being a scientist and the pursuit of data. All too often in the supplement industry you see claim after claim, opinion after opinion, it gets so old. I wanted to provide good, solid data that could not be refuted.

In all honesty, this might be what the industry needs. Don't get me wrong, I'm the last person to clamor for increased regulation; I'm a strong advocate for individual freedoms and the right to put what we want into our own bodies, if it doesn't hurt anyone else. But I see a strong, unmet need for inspecting supplements for what they claim it contains. While mark cuban has stepped in the right direction with labdoor, I have a hard time understanding how grading proteins against each other is valuable. It needs a heck of a lot more scope as well as more transparency.
While I'm on the soapbox, I'm tired of companies being forced to put "extracts" on labels. Show me the compounds that are purportedly in those extracts and put those on the label!

Edit: Now that I think about it, this might be solved by doing what many (if not all) chemical and biological reagent companies do, which is to also include a certificate of analysis. I really don't see why that wouldn't solve many problems in itself. Just a thought.

Thanks for running some tests bro. I appreciate it. I posted test results on Follidrone about a month ago and it was like yours, just about 100% pure.
Ultimately anyone can get a copy of a standard test and post it saying its their stuff so I appreciate you validating us.
For me its EXTREMELY important where our raw materials come from. Sometimes I pay more but guess what.....Our ingredients are always as pure as possible and free of contaminants. We dont source through the product manufacturer/bottler like many companies do. I source our raws and ship them myself so I can inspect before hand. I agree though there are likely some companies who are probably watching this closely.

I think I missed that post of yours. I'm actually quite pleased with how that folli test looked. A glance at sigma shows highly pure epi can be pretty pricey, so you've done a great job at sourcing your stuff!

Thanks bro. Our source works very hard to ensure purity and continues to improve.
To me the quality of raw materials is primary.

Im grateful you took the time to run tests. Frankly Im very disappointed that you wont run more. I know where we stand ;) Everything is as solid as is possible.
I do think that continued testing will ruffle feathers and perhaps the thing to consider here is why.
If everything is on the up and up nobody would care.

Right?

Nice, now if you could just bring a product to market I could take when off folli

How soon? lol

I have a few of the anabolic with epi in it. Ill find testers this week
The transdermal ai_ i have all the ingredients and will make a short batch for testing tomorrow perhaps.
I also have the stronger oral ai now. Going to cap it tomorrow and send it to guys to run labs. So...3 products in the next couple months
The ai products will release shortly.

Awesome. Looking forward to all of it.

I found this interesting study on green teas and there is specific articles on Epicatechin and absorption, which according to this study is poor??

The green tea article:

There was a recent study regarding (-)-epicatechin and after 5 days follistatin was 250% higher.
It was also acutely elevated after administration so plenty is getting through.

We are testing ways to improve absorption but it seems like even with things that increase it by 500-700% the results are = to no absorption enhancement.
So...its a waste of money to really pursue it. In my opinion.

Instead we are focusing on new things.

i would focus on that epic pre workout of yours. more down for that than anything else

I just set a new beta version to 4 guys.
This batch is starting to look solid but is still about 50 to 60% of the total. Testing-
A hormonal performance enhancer
New type of vasodilator
Combined with some high % extracts
An ingredient nobody is gonna believe we are using ;)
This is just the abnormal ingredients being tested in this batch.

Because some are new we have to test slowly adding 1 or 2 new ingredients per version. This way we can see how it effects people.

You have my word on this.
We are breaking new ground and pushing this category to a new level.
Youll be impressed.

well i have been excited for it for a while now haha. let us know if you got any more beta's to go out that would make it into aus lol

I'm taking Viron, Prolactrone and waiting for more Follidrone to get here, all these products helped me push harder, stay lean, add muscle and increased endurance. This stack with my MK677 is unbeatable. I can't wait to see whats next.

Wow yea that looks like an insane stack. Honestly Im proud that you can stack my products and see real results.
I remember over a decade ago looking at all the mags and seeing all those bogus fake steroids and thinking they had potential. Its insane some of them are still being advertised in the same mags.
I also remember spending my money on products when i was working 2 jobs and going to school full time. I had no money and every supp on the market was garbage. Id be so excited and then....nothing. nada. Zip. Literally nothing happened. So disappointing.

When I started blr I made a vow to myself to never for any reason make or sell anything but viable products that had measurable results.
Products that your excited to get in the mail but more important that you enjoy and want to use again.
Products that work. That simple.

I hear you, I'm 46 and I notice when products work, better then when I was younger (more in tune with the body) I been at this for 25+ years, this stuff works, like you said, in the past the stuff in the magazines were bunk and had no effect except for maybe placebo. I've done my AAS in the past...then went natural, now I did all the peptides. I weed out what works and stay with that. MK677 is great for HGH and IGF, especially when you're older. The follidrone, Prolactrone, Viron work synergistically with MK and raise my test, and decrease my prolactin.

Lol your right on that.
Its not because its harmful that you wouldnt believe but because people have been mislead and uninformed for many years so they think its bad.

Hes joking saying asbestos.
And Im saying our ingredient is not hard to believe because it would be harmful.
Its hard to believe because so many people have been mislead into thinking its a bad thing when in fact...its a positive one.

Shouldn't this thread have been placed in the Company Promo section instead of Advanced Discussion?....seeing that's what it was

If it had been a thread started by someone associated with the company (the op is not)...
If it had been intended as a thread to promote blr (it was not)
If it was a thread about us specifically ( it wasnt)
Since thats NOT what it was then no. It wouldnt make sense.

Its not my fault he decided not to run more tests. Frankly id LOVE to see it happen. Obviously there were some nervous parties .

Perhaps you could test them in your "lab" where you do all your research
