Turff49 Quest for Success

ARM blaster day!

Figured I'd hit the arms heavy today...

Standing DB curls
30 x 15
40 x 10
45 x 10
50 x 10

Standing EZ curls back against wall
60 x 10
70 x 10
80 x 10
90 x 10
100 x 10

Skull crushers
70 x 10
80 x 10
90 x 10
100 x 10
110 x 10

HS preacher curls
90 x 10 x 2 sets
100 x 10 x 2 sets

HS tricep press downed
180 x 10
270 x 10
300 x 10 x 2 sets

Dips
BW x 10 x 3 sets

And my arms felt like balloons!!

Have I ever told you that you are STRONG??!!

I like those EZ's against the wall.. no cheating on those!

Wrong. With his strength, he probably has the option of putting holes in the wall...

I think my strength comes from not feeling muscle pain. Probably have a bunch of dead nerve endings from all the back surgeries...lol

Shoulder day

Been real busy at work so haven't had as much time to reply to all the threads I'm subscribed to. I'll catch up though...

Set a 1 rep or today

HS OHP
90 x 20
180 x 10
230 x 10
280 x 5
300 x 0 failed
300 x 1 PR and it took everything I had.

Side laterals SS with front laterals
20 x 10 / 20 x 10
25 x 10 / 25 x 10 x 4 sets

Rear Delt machine
105 x 10
110 x 10
120 x 10
135 x 10
150 x 10

And that's all I could do. That 300 taxed my delts, bi's, and Tri's. Thankfully tomorrow is rest/cardio day...

Forgot to mention:
Dosing the 3-MHD for about 8-10 days now. Cals are at 3500-3700 and weight this morning was at an even 200. That's about a 5lb increase over the past 2 weeks.

A guy had 6 plates (270 total) on the HS OHP this morning and I thought that was a lot. I don't know how you guys do it.

Curious, do you have any knee issues with extensions? I currently don't, but hear from several here that they do.
Typically these are from people who do not align themselves correctly in the machine creating sheering the actual knee joint should be lined up with the joint of the machine arm where it rotates. If you are further forward or back you create a sheering effect with in the knee. Keep in mind I said the knee joint and not the knee cap, the joint is behind the kneecap the knee cap protects it.
I like it nice and eazy against the wall.. with me there's no cheating on the bros!
Interesting...

Awesome congrats!!!
I've never used any of this darn HS stuff. I can't relate. I'd love to have them for back work
You have got to try them even if you just go into a gym for a week pass.

Totally agree here on the HS. Does it replace the standing OHP, not really, but it will build some shoulders and helps limit the risk of injury in the process. Same for most of the HS equipment. As you get older you tend to worry more about injury and this is just one of the ways that help.

At least there are no "holes" in the wall. Oh the "glory"...

It's all mental man! I look at it as I did 280, 300 is just 10lbs more each side(arm). 10lbs is nothing. Convince myself I'm doing it and then do it. If I don't get it then I'll get it next time!

Ha. I was kidding about the holes.

Back day
Work has been kicking my butt this week. Be glad when today is over and get some time off.

Weight this morning was at 202. I'll keep this(bulk) up for another week or 2 and then start another cut.

HS ISO lateral rows neutral grip
90 x 20
180 x 15
270 x 12
320 x 10

One arm BB rows ea arm
45 x 15
90 x 15
115 x 15
140 x 8

Shrugs hold a few seconds each rep. Shoot for 10 seconds on last rep each set
90 x 10
180 x 10
270 x 10
360 x 10
450 x 10

Wide grip pull downs pause at chest
90 x 10
110 x 10
130 x 10
150 x 10
170 x 10

Workout was short as I had to be at work early.

Got quite a bit done for a short workout. TGIF...

TGIF for sure! It's been a long week... Now I gotta go in for a few hours tomorrow.

Nice quick workout! Definitely made it worthwhile!! Get you some rest now!

Those are some heavy ass shrugs. NIce work...
Trying to build a camel for my head to sit on...lol
I think the heavy shrugs have correlated to my increase on rows and OHP's.

Leg day
Another short workout as I had to be at work this morning. Kept everything at moderate heavy. Nothing super heavy.

Hack squat
150 x 20
240 x 15
330 x 15
420 x 12

Leg press
180 x 20
270 x 15
360 x 12
450 x 10
540 x 10

Leg extension
90 x 20
105 x 15
135 x 12
150 x 12
165 x 12
195 x 12

Seated leg curls
90 x 15
110 x 15
135 x 15
150 x 12
165 x 12

And that was it. Less than 45 minutes.

Lol. How in the world did you fit all that in in 45m?

Trying to build a camel for my head to sit on...lol

I def need to do them more. I feel it in my traps pretty good after DLs tho.

I was in a hurry...lol
The first 3 sets in each go pretty fast. Basically just the time to add plates and change weights.

Taking today as a rest day. Give the back some rest time and do a bunch of foam rolling. The thoracic area gave me fits during the night. Work took its toll on me this past week. Other than a few hours of office work I'm off for the next 2 weeks.

Those weights probably need a break from you anyway.

you guys ever do mid back shrugs on a bent row station? I love how it adds dimension to the upper rhomboids and lower traps. I will do either standing shrugs or these any given week.. with my recent back injury looks like I will be doing the mid backs for awhile.

Great deg day!...I agree with Thomas, those weights are begging for a break anyways!!

Interesting! I you tubed them and have to say I've never done those. I'll incorporated them on my next back day. I can see where they can really benefit the back(in the Meadows videos) and it appears you don't need much weight.
Thanks Ripp!

I've done them with a BB. Prone Shrugs, I think they were called. Need to do them again tho. Maybe today (arm day).

Catch up day. Missed Chest Day Sunday and today is typically arms so decided to hit Chest and tris.

Incline DB presses
70 x 12
80 x 12
90 x 10
100 x 8
Feel guilty for not hitting the 110's but they were taken.

HS chest press
180 x 12
235 x 12
270 x 10
320 x 8

Dips
BW x 10 x 4 sets 2 sec pause at bottom on each rep. Holy crap these were brutal.

Skull Crushers
70 x 12
80 x 12
90 x 12
100 x 10

Pec Dec machine
105 x 10
130 x 10
150 x 10
180 x 10
210 x 10

Incline DB Flies
40 x 10
50 x 10
60 x 10

And that was that. Don't think I'll be able to go heavy on shoulders tomorrow after this workout today. Cals at 3200 yesterday and weight at 204 this morning. Joints are starting to feel the effects of the 3-MHD. Probably finish this bottle(about 5 more days) and then decide where I go from there.

Yeah. Last time I ran it for 6 weeks along with Quad Methyl Xtreme(another 2 weeks on top of the 6 and 4 of those weeks stacked together). This time I'm running it while on Test. It's great at adding some lean gains but like most products with DMZ it's harder to keep those gains afterwards. I think most that report the major gains on it would've gained regardless of what they would've taken. 194 -198 is probably my natural ceiling for my height, metabolism, body structure, age, etc. and I'm basing that on where I typically level back out at over the past 15 years and at a 10-12% bf. The hope is to have added 4 good pounds after I go through my next cut from this bulking cycle.

WTF! A 24/7 gym closed today. The card reader was even turned off... Guess no workouts until Friday now...sucks!!!!

Not today. 100% rain today. Might get a workout in tomorrow outside if it's not raining.

Great chest section! Sucks that your gym is closed! Doesn't make since for a 24/7 gym though! Hope the rain clears out so you can get some in at home! It's quite rainy here today too!

Strong lifts! I thought when it rains in FL that it's a "warm" rain!? Lifting in a warm rain allows bathing to be done at the same time. Lol

Merry Christmas to you and your family!!!

It's raining here too. Wait, what part of Fl again?

That sucks about the gym. I've already confirmed mine is open.

Thanks Mark!
Uhh, in South Carolina, not Florida. Still raining with 100% chance tonight too. It was kind of warm today but not warm enough for an outside shower lol! I think we got up to 68 here today...

Oh, interviewed with another company today. Second interview set for Jan 7/8. My job is quickly coming to an end and then I would be required to travel, all the time. Getting to old to stay on the road for 5-6 weeks straight, home for 4 days then out again. Hopefully the 2nd interview goes as well as the first and we can negotiate pay and bennies. I'm ready for a new challenge.

Good luck Brian. I know with your drive that whatever you're allowed to take on you'll dominate. Keep us posted.

Good luck! I hope everything goes well!!

I think I just put myself out of commission for a few days. All this rain caused the tarp on the pool to get pulled in on one side. Even pulled a cinder block I had sitting on the tarp for additional weight on a corner. So I put my trunks on and get in the pool to get the block out and the water bags out. All that went fine until I got out of the pool, took one step, and put my foot right through the skimmer. Broke the lid and somehow my toes bent far enough back to go in the skimmer. Cut my big toe up pretty bad but didn't cut any tendons that we could tell. Wife wanted me to go get stitches but I had her clean it, gauze it and tape it up. Hopefully it'll heal up ok. Definitely no legs on Saturday and nothing that requires a lot of foot pressure for a few days. Could've been worse so I'm not complaining. Happy it isn't broke...

Oh boy! Sounds painful! Heal up and watch for waterborne infection.

Pic or it didn't happen...

Hope you recover quickly bro. Make sure to keep it clean and avoid affection.
