Craft Beers / Microbrews: What Are You Drinking?

In Chicago for business, had a Barney flats oatmeal stout, very good. Also a dirty Helen Brown. Some goose island next up

Have you had the Paulaner Oktoberfest?
yes. It's.... Ok. I'm not a huge Paulaner fan. Their beers are always too nutty/wanna be German tasting for me. Put it this way: Paulaner & Spaten are to Germany what Bud & Coors are here

Ah okay. I'm not that big of fan of Sam Adams and would prefer a Paulaner or Hacker-Pschoor if I go for a German beer

Best to make an informed decision when at a new brewery :) shenanigoats dopplebock for the win

I love beer flights...no better way to find a new great beer than 4oz samples!

go next summer, worth the trip to the brewery. I'm there a few times a year

Might be tough to, Little Honda due in May, but will keep that in mind!

My local spot has 52 taps and they only fill two kegs before changing out. I have found so many new beers to try that I can't even keep up. Plus they have a different food truck there every night, so it is a constant surprise.

Without question. The platte river bike path is about 1/2 mile from my house and come this summer there will be 3 new beer gardens and the flagship Breckenridge distillery and brewery with 2 additional restaurants and bars right on the path. So essentially 5 bars within 2 miles on the bike path. LOL. It is going to be wild. Not to mention all the kayakers as well.

Oh, and 12.9%

I must find this gem and install it in my blood stream

It is kicking my a$$, but oh what sweet pain! Delicious and smooth due to the barrel-aging. The alcohol, while noticeable as you drink, is actually somewhat subdued. So you drink a bit more. Then you feel sleepy...this boy hits hard but not immediately.

Yeah, you got to love living in Colorado. There's so many micro brews. One of the reasons I haven't got on any ph cycles in almost 2 years.

That is pretty funny because I know several people that would never run a PH because they loved to drink beer. Now that MJ is legal, they all are on cycle.

ahem- hypothetically speaking of course.

Guys should download the Untappd App. It's like a beer drinkers social media.
Find wmr018... That be me

So many craft beers but to name some. Theres a brewery in Rochester, Mi and they brew their own beer and their Lazy Daze Amber Lager is fantastic reminds me of a Sam Adams but with more flavor, higher alcohol content but very tastey, as well they have their Rochester Red which is more of an ale type beer than a lager, so not as heavy/filling but with a great flavor hard to explain but good craft beer.

But as for craft beers that can be purchased everywhere, I recently have purchased the blue moon seasonal winter pack case comes with 4 different types of beer. Theres a pretzel beer and its fantastic can literally taste the pretzel flavoring, but overall the entire case is great.

Also the sam adams winter variety pack is great as always the sam adams winter lager one of my faves of the season, but their also new limited edition white Christmas this past weekend I became a big fan of this beer highly recommend. If you like Sam Adams then you cant go wrong with this variety pack.

Well everyone go buy and try em highly recommend and wont be disappointed!!

I usually have to have some old fezzywig on Christmas but not this year. My brother and I brewed a Belgian wit that's gonna be amazing if it tastes like it smells it's charging on the keg right now.

<img src="http://anabolicminds.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=111958"/> Merry Xmas to me!!! I'll let y'all know how it is

Very fancy! That's a krieg beer?

it definitely had some serious sweetness to it, so it would seem to be, even though it didn't say that on the bottle. It was a cellar, bottle fermented 2012 Ale. Really good with cheese and crackers. Need the saltiness to offset the sweetness.
My wife is funny, she always thinks that a good, complex beer will pair well with a steak. So when I told her no, that it's an after dinner, cracker beer, she tossed her hands up and said "I quit... This is too complicated!"
I felt a slight taste of victory!

I hosted a Christmas get-together for my family last night. My brother comes in from out of town so we do our gift exchange on Xmas weekend. I set up a beer/chocolate pairing station.

Magic Hat Feast of Fools + Chocolove raspberry 55% cocoa

Resurgence Brewery Sponge Candy Stout + Watson's Sponge Candy

Southern Tier Chokolat + Chocolove orange 55% cocoa

Stone Xocoveza + Godiva 85% dark chocolate

I may have to come up to NY next Xmas!!

Play around with some combos! High cocoa % -> porters and stouts, less % cocoa -> hoppier or fruitier beers. That's my go-to formula, although every taste is subjective.

Sadly, I'm on a break from all things beer :(
I know, it hurts, but I have to do it! I was pounding through wonderful winter beers like I was a crack addict. I need to shed a few BF % points and I'll be just fine.
Not that I need help with this part, but what should be my 1st beer in say... 3 weeks
