NomZ Totals 1500+

Fockin slick, Holmes.
lol watching the vid makes me want to do more oly, just looks good so good.
Ah the Romaleos. Great shoes. Saw them drop in price on rogue a few weeks back. Wonder if they're dropping a new model soon.

I picked mine up, just that color, for $92 from Dick's. Dunno why, but I love them dearly.

Weird. They MSRP for 189$ I think. I got em with a mil discount over a year ago. Then saw em marked down to 145$ on rogue a couple weeks back.

You got a crazy good deal.

They are the tits for squatting, and a must for Oly lifting IMO

Are you guys talkin the older ones vs the new IIs maybe?

Ya, I got the IIs at a huge discount.

That's crazy. I didn't think dicks sold them. I'll have to check em out to see if I can get any color different than my neon green ones.

Most sites I've seen have been trying to liquidate them, or are short on some sizes. They must either be trying to get rid of their stock (maybe III's are coming soon?)

Just recently nabbed a pair of Romaleos II from Rogue for 129 - read something about making room for the new model

Someone explain the difference between a power snatch and a full snatch.

Power snatch is received in basically a quarter squat.

Full snatch is a "true" snatch, the weight is received in a full overhead squat.

I don't Oly lift, so don't argue with me over semantics lol.

^^ basically what he said. Power = above parallel, full or "squat" is at or below. Just works different explosive points and balances

Hmmm, sounds like crossfit.

Snatch equals picking something up from the ground and putting it over your head in one motion.

Got the Red/Gold for $92 shipped... this was the only color they had and they sold out quickly.
Damn you have a pretty snatch there. Also BRB heading to dicks.
lol thanks brah, too late I'm guessing.
Nice snatchin Nomz! Any reason your only going power and not full?
Thanks, I don't full snatch bc I'm scared as hell of getting under the bar and my mobility sucks. As I sat down into that first snatch, that's about as low as I get, which is pitiful lol.

I'd agree with this. Power is anything above parallel, below is full.

I can sympathize with being scared lol. Wanted to see how much I could OH squat for sh!ts and giggles one day. Worked up to 185 and I was good for one rep, but the second rep I bobbled and almost killed myself lol

if you think snatch = CF then you need to do some learning son

I'm aware of the snatch as a weightlifting movement.

I am referring to the arbitrary naming of movements that already have names.

For example, here is the definition for a snatch: a lift in weight lifting in which the weight is raised from the floor directly to an overhead position in a single motion

So, what I saw in that video was a snatch, not some offshoot variation of it.

It's a huuuuge mind Fük to get under a heavy snatch! As weird as it sounds, practice bailing on lifts at lighter weights and it helped me get more comfortable Oly lifting heavier. Ex: once I knew I could bail at 155, I PR'd 165 on my snatch... Same with my 215 jerk... Once I could dump it, I got 235, etc

the difference between power and full is not a new thing or "offshoot variation". It is a training tool used by Oly lifters for a long time now. Either would count as a successful lift in a comp tho if that is what you are wondering.

Yep, that's basically what I'm getting at.

Edit: the reason I asked originally is because the video just looked like a snatch (per the definition). So I don't understand why it would need to be called something different.

Pretty sure people have been "power" cleaning and snatching long before CF's inception. Maybe I'm wrong, idk. Like I said, I don't Oly lift.

Edit:
Ignore me, you guys got it ironed out.

They have been cleaning and snatching before crossfit, yes.

And for the record, nobody oly lifts. There are a good amount of people that do weightlifting though.

I was using the term colloquially. I'm well aware the sport is known as weightlifting.

I can OH squat more than this for sure as I did 165 for triples on OHS and felt easy. That is a lift I should add for multiple purposes though.

Eh I prefer to be as technical as needed, big difference between a power and full snatch in an experienced weightlifter. For me, they are the same...

I have no issues bailing, the confidence to catch low is a mind**** though. OH squats and snatch balances should help me.

Good job dude!
Thanks broseph, gotcha catch you.
Nice work NomZ. And you opening a gym? Cool

I am not, but a friend of mine is. Should be one of the better(best) equipped strength gym in the South Bay area if it turns out like they say it will.

I really need to get out of the habit of benching at work, zero spotters or liftoffs, and I never do the negatives/board presses/slingshot work I need to be doing. duurrrrr

Nice CGBP.

You should try CGBP @225 with 5 reps on 3 board, 5 x 2board, 5 x 1board, 5 x no boards. No rest between boards.

Feels bad man.

This is big for you, man. We know you can ram a bunch of weight off your chest, but you pretty much need a four board on your keychain for your lockout.

Sounds like something I'd suck at.

OK training session, training events tomorrow morning at Santa Cruz Strength for my upcoming strongman show, so took things semi-easy tonight.

The yoke walk was super unstable for me, I also had it at a low-pick but that's not an excuse.

Thanks, love the stones. I was hoping they'd have stones up to 400, but 300 was the heaviest. Sad event day was sad.

10lb PR there and the biggest thing was just being confident to throw my head under and push the lockout. 245 is the comp weight,...

It's better than that, 300mg of mixed caffeine sources is still a lot, more than I wanted but I was up at 5:30am today for work so figured I'd need it.

Part is dicaffeine malate, anecdotally a little longer lasting and slower hitting.

Felt heavy as hell unracking it, nice slow eccentric, off the box and I'm beating the bands up fast, get to lockout and feel the bar yanked off my back and rocketed into the pins. Luckily only bent my hands back and stretched my chest a little too much. My side spotters weren't even close, lucky them, bc the rep was fast coming up. The band tension hit all of a sudden and boom.

herderdude Sean1332 Rodja you guys are the band whores, how much resistance is it at the top with red minis, two per side, choked to the base of the rack? Just folded the minis over and looped onto the bar.

Two minis, doubled, at the top of a squat. Hmm... My guess would be about 100 pounds at the bottom and well up over 200 pounds at the top. Probably closer to 300 than 200. The thing about doubling bands is like you described, it causes the tension to come on fast, like hitting a wall. I've benched against doubled lights. That was hell.

Two mini's or doubled mini's? If two, I would say maybe 25ishlbs top end each band, so 100 total I guess. Doubled mini's? Then more along the lines what Dude said.
