Someone explain the difference between a power snatch and a full snatch.
if you think snatch = CF then you need to do some learning sonHmmm, sounds like crossfit. Snatch equals picking something up from the ground and putting it over your head in one motion.

Got the Red/Gold for $92 shipped... this was the only color they had and they sold out quickly. That's crazy. I didn't think dicks sold them. I'll have to check em out to see if I can get any color different than my neon green ones.
Most sites I've seen have been trying to liquidate them, or are short on some sizes. They must either be trying to get rid of their stock (maybe III's are coming soon?)
lol thanks brah, too late I'm guessing.Damn you have a pretty snatch there. Also BRB heading to dicks.
Thanks, I don't full snatch bc I'm scared as hell of getting under the bar and my mobility sucks. As I sat down into that first snatch, that's about as low as I get, which is pitiful lol.Nice snatchin Nomz! Any reason your only going power and not full?
Power snatch is received in basically a quarter squat.
Full snatch is a "true" snatch, the weight is received in a full overhead squat.
I don't Oly lift, so don't argue with me over semantics lol.

the difference between power and full is not a new thing or "offshoot variation". It is a training tool used by Oly lifters for a long time now. Either would count as a successful lift in a comp tho if that is what you are wondering.I'm aware of the snatch as a weightlifting movement. I am referring to the arbitrary naming of movements that already have names. For example, here is the definition for a snatch: a lift in weight lifting in which the weight is raised from the floor directly to an overhead position in a single motion So, what I saw in was a snatch, not some offshoot variation of it.

Pretty sure people have been "power" cleaning and snatching long before CF's inception.
Maybe I'm wrong, idk. Like I said, I don't Oly lift.
They have been cleaning and snatching before crossfit, yes. And for the record, nobody oly lifts. There are a good amount of people that do weightlifting though.
I was using the term colloquially. I'm well aware the sport is known as weightlifting.
I can OH squat more than this for sure as I did 165 for triples on OHS and felt easy. That is a lift I should add for multiple purposes though.I can sympathize with being scared lol. Wanted to see how much I could OH squat for sh!ts and giggles one day. Worked up to 185 and I was good for one rep, but the second rep I bobbled and almost killed myself lol
Eh I prefer to be as technical as needed, big difference between a power and full snatch in an experienced weightlifter. For me, they are the same...I'm aware of the snatch as a weightlifting movement.

I have no issues bailing, the confidence to catch low is a mind**** though. OH squats and snatch balances should help me.It's a huuuuge mind Fük to get under a heavy snatch! As weird as it sounds, practice bailing on lifts at lighter weights and it helped me get more comfortable Oly lifting heavier. Ex: once I knew I could bail at 155, I PR'd 165 on my snatch... Same with my 215 jerk... Once I could dump it, I got 235, etc
You must be new here, I knew I should've added a meme to that post lest it be taken seriously.
Thanks broseph, gotcha catch you.Good job dude!
Nice work NomZ. And you opening a gym? Cool

I really need to get out of the habit of benching at work, zero spotters or liftoffs, and I never do the negatives/board presses/slingshot work I need to be doing. duurrrrr
Sounds like something I'd suck at.Nice CGBP.
You should try CGBP @225 with 5 reps on 3 board, 5 x 2board, 5 x 1board, 5 x no boards. No rest between boards.
Feels bad man.
This is big for you, man. We know you can ram a bunch of weight off your chest, but you pretty much need a four board on your keychain for your lockout.
Fantastic stone work, man. Congrats on getting your bodyweight overhead with the Swiss Bar, too. Much harder than a log.
245 is the comp weight,...
How is the new Razor 8? The original stuff was intense. Nothing ever made me sweat so much, or make my heart want to explode so badly as the OG did lol
