what's the general consensus? 2.5g a day? split into two doses or not? is taking it preworkout optimal?

also what other product is it comparable to in terms of body composition effects?

There is a good thread on betaine in the advanced discussion subforum. The study Ive seen dosed 1.5gm twice per day, but Im not sure how critical split dosing this amount is. Ive read some guys split dose, some dont, some go higher than 3gm per day, some go pre wo, etc. As far as I understand things betaine is a 'saturation' thing, as opposed to 'acute', meaning you want to take it regularly in order to benefit from it.

3g a day is the typical daily dose. A lot of people split it into 1.5g doses because too much at one time can cause stomach distress. And it is more of a saturation, like creatine and beta alanine.

in same vein as creatine, splitting up the dosing or timing of dosing does not matter...take when it is convenient

Out of laziness and just trying to be efficient with remembering, I'd opt for pre-workout.
that's how i roll...k.i.s.s.

correct - individual tolerance is only thing besides personal preference, that really has any bearing on these dosing timing/amount issues...you can also take with food rather than on empty stomach, if sensitive stomach presents

yes, these guys got it

alright so how long should i run it for? is there ever a need to cycle off?
no data that I am aware of shows any negative potential in long-term administration, so this is personal choice..
myself, I prefer to cycle off about everything i do at one point or another

Snag does your k.i.s.s mean keep it simple stupid? If so never knew anyone else used that lol. As far as betaine I switch up depending on my day 3-4 gram in one shot or split doses.

I was really impressed with the study on 2.5g betaine, ever since I've been using that dose preWO.

Only seems "noticeable" when I don't use it...recovery time gets longer. I was torn up after a heavy session and knew it would be 3-4 days of doms and fatigue, but then I remembered TMG and took a few grams before bed. Woke up the next day much less sore than I normally would have. Keep it simple and cheap, stupid:)

Have you been impressed by the effects?

I get crazy muscle fullness from Betaine. I stopped taking it and it was a noticeable difference, definitely not placebo. Also as you guys mentioned recovery is definitely better on it.

I seem to have more physical energy taking it. Not a direct boost like caffeine or anything. I just get tired out easier when I don't take it. Recovery is definitely improved.

How do you typically dose it? Split the dosage or all in one bolus?

Does Betaine act as a pump product? I do a lot of running and recently added it in and my calves have been getting really pumped as I run, almost painful. Or could this be the muscle fullness that others have mentioned, that I'm feeling?

sure it does - that is why our betaine product is called Max Pump

Invalid Link Removed

Thank you sir for the answer!

That's a very solid looking product, I'll have to pick it up when I do my next big order.

So should I simply not take betaine when I'm going on long runs? It seems like on one hand it helps improve my endurance but on the other it makes my calves too pumped, or I could just be a man and push through the calf pumps lol :P

yeah there's nothing you can do about the total saturation issue that occurs, with respect to trying to "time your dosing", but it may not behoove you to dose right before one of your runs
remember - once this is in your system, timing of dosing really loses its extent of importance

My pants are saturated right now.
