Best protein and why

I've used all kinds of protein, cheap, expensive and in-between. Stay away from the cheap stuff. Some kinds, like ON, just don't agree with me. And while the exciting flavors are ok at first, I get sick of them easily, so now I stick with plain old vanilla, hard to screw up. I used to use Musclepharm Combat vanilla. Now, I use bulk ones, just started Canadianprotein.com. GMP facility, $50 for five pounds of whey concentrate/isolate blend (good price in Canada.) Very good protein, 85%, just as good as stuff twice as expensive. Unless you love the exotic stuff, I suggest going the bulk route with a reputable company. Just save an empty plastic tub to dump it in. They come in the those annoying ziplock bags that can take forever to close properly.

what flavors did you get hoss?

very exciting for my chocolate chip cookie dough

I got the Cor-Fetti, Peanut Butter Marshmallow, and Cinn Swirl....I usually get my basic vanilla from prosource.net in a 4lb tub.....and the smaller 2lb'ers in the "exotic" flavors just in case I don't like them...

excellent choices. 3 of my favorites.

i've had chocolate 5/5
vanilla 4/5
strawberry 4/5
cake batter (currently making cake batter wafles) 5/5
cinna 5/5
red velvet cake batter 4/5
PB Marshmallow, 10/5

That's good to know...Thanks! I got the C4 in the Watermelon. I've had the Blue Razz (or whatever it's called?) and I liked it...but that's about a $120 value for only $74!!! I couldn't pass it up! I ordered last night & I just got the tracking number 2 hours ago!!

I also got Walden Farms Pancake syrup & Alfredo Sauce....to get my free gift! LOL

I would agree...except - the link you post is broke
oops

no love for Beverly International protein in here? wow..i am stunned
granted price is high (as are all Bev products), but with a lot of guys clamoring about quality in here and saying they don't mind spending the extra to supplement their diet with a good protein, I am amazed there is no mention of what I consider to be among the very best (if not the best period)..

as for ion-exchange, not a fan
in essence it destroys the nutritive properties of the protein..the so-called "benefit" of trading nutritive properties for more BCAA content (as some companies espouse) is IMO pretty farcical, and not why I am using a protein powder in the first place

Buddy of mine was telling me about Beverly some years ago. They are pretty pricey.

Thus the reason WHY we should be mindful of the quality of the protein. Yes Whole foods is OPTIMAL but post workout is the MOST important time and what really sums up the day in terms of nutrition. Post work out has the prime conditions for muscle repair and synthesis and quick delivery is needed. The better the quality of said protein the better the results.

Hmm nah. That's the old school way of thinking.

Body remains in an anabolic state for 24 hrs post exercise

I drink my protein with 16oz of milk, so let's say I have a 30g scoop of protein and I get half through the absorption process , I'm satisfied with 31g total after a workout. I'm going to eat again within 90minutes anyway. Dairy products are a great source for protein. Granted there not the fastest absorbing, best way to stay lean or some people can't or don't drink milk. What works for me may not work for others.

The body is very effective at utilizing protonz and absorbing them. Sure, uptake is limited by transporters but that won't effect it too much.

I'm glad someone made a thread about the most over looked supp. We're so caught up in pre work outs, estro blockers, and other things that we forget the staple. Even with anabolics the bodybuilders of the 70's didnt have a FRACTION of what we have now..... They didnt even have creatine mono.

Been hooked over 2 yrs now on this. First off I like the extra digestive enzymes and ammino acid profile. It mixes easily with out clumps and is for me one of the best tasting ones in awhile. My wife puts it in my pancakes and I love them. It doesn't have a bad after taste.

if you have a choice get straight isolates...the price is a bit higher

Iostean, TCF, and Isolyze are some of the best

Love those as well!

I was skeptical of Isolyze until I got to try ot at the 2014 ASF

yeah I met Pj Braun at a store and he hooked me up with a bunch, i enjoyed it...the vanilla cherry is really good

i do like isotean a bit better because it does have more flavor and is a bit thicker

XF, Select, OxyElite, SAN. Those have been my rotation for the past year, that I will continue to purchase.

I'm a big fan of Beverly UMP. One of the most trusted brands in the industry, a good whey and casein blend, good macros and outstanding taste. It's pricier than some at around a dollar a scoop.

Yep! Have rocky road and chocolate in my protein arsenal. Good stuff.
