Dave's Newest bulk into cut for show. AAS, SLIN and GH

Normally I wouldn't. There were about 30 women there for bikini and figure. Total smoke shows. But I didn't give a fuk. I ain't there for tail I am there to become the best bodybuilder. If I'm driving 2 hours and paying someone to coach me for 3 hours the last thing I care about is tail. I can get that whenever I want. I am to the point in my prep that getting laid doesn't matter. I want to win MUTHA FUKIN TROPHIES!!! lol

Yes.

Don't get me wrong I was looking but what the coaches were saying was my priority. After I was done I still talked to some and hung out. But I was there to work not play. It was that mindset the whole time

Lookin swole Dave, delts look massive!

Who are you and where is Dave?

Haha it didn't matter there.

I'm actually going to hang out with one of them now :) she hit me up on Facebook after my first post... I guess I'm irresistible haha

Ha yeah I want to win trophies so bad I'm literally planning my next bulk. I'm debating not competing in June just to add more mass and come in 10lbs bigger in my back and chest for a show late winter next year. I keep hearing about my potential. The winner of state last year and national competitor who should get his pro card this year was blown away today. He says I carry so much mass it's retarded especially in my legs. He couldn't believe I haven't competed before. When they broke down at groups they put me with the veterans because I was past the new guys in size and symmetry. It was kind of a boost I needed

I'd take the time off and bulk if your goal is to get the pro card

Yeah I will know when my show comes. It's hard to pass up 3 shows in your first season. That's a lot of stage experience to have going into your second season.

yeah, but the extra mass could pay off down the road also

Very true. I will have a 5 month bulk period if I do the June show and only 3.5 months of that can be a blast before I would cruise then cut for another show. I can grow plenty in that time. Or if I don't do it thats 7 months of "off season" giving me 2 solid 10 weeks blasts for bulk and a 4 week maintenance recover phase between them before I cruise and cut.

Just stuff I'm pondering.

Do the June show Dave ... Trust me.. U need to get the feel for the stage, master ur posing n all that ...plus...experience......

Agreed with mags.

If you need more time just don't do the late winter show.. And bulk then instead.

Pros aren't built in a year.

It takes a long ****ing time and a ton of drugs.

I have to agree with this.

I know it isn't the same, but I'm about a month out from Texas Strongest Man, and I know for a fact that I will not be competitive in the Open 231 at this time. (I weigh ~205-210 and most guys cut water from ~260 to compete as 231s)

I could take the rest of this year off competing and just train and gain, but I'm much better off getting the competition experience. Sure, it might slow the gains down a little but they'll still come eventually and when they do I'll have more than 1 or 2 competitions under my belt so I'll know what to expect and nerves won't be an issue.

Idk, I'm an in it to win it mentality and if a pro card is your long term goal, then you just have to decide whether u need more stage experience or 10lbs more lean muscle basically. I don't see you as being the kind of guy that's going to have trouble on stage. But that's just my two cents

Like mags said you should do the show and get some experience. If a pro card is what you want in the future you should do as many shows as you can to get your name out there. This sport also involves a decent amount of politics at times and sometimes to win you need to both bring an insane package and make a name for yourself first too. With that being said you got this dd bring home some trophies!

There's a muscle n mind connection....
Posing has to look effortless, it has to b bang on...better than the guys next to u...
I bought the DVD of my first show, so I could correct things...
I did win 2 first places, but my posing wasn't perfect...
I'm after a pro card too...
Practice makes perfect....
;)

yes it does, but for a man to get a pro card he has to be fckn BIG these days, that's all I'm saying. Cutting for another show loses possible gains. I have a lot of buddies that want to go pro and screw around cutting for too many shows and will never attain the size required. Either way I see Dave as having a great shot

I see what you're saying, but bigman is dead on.with the amount of gear dd is on he's not losing any gains dieting.. it's just not possible.

It's possible to gain 10lbs in 2 months. Or close to it. U just need the right diet and the right hormones with a GH. Do what u do Dave, pros and cons to both sides, personally I'd try and do the shows while bulking, it would be hard and u probably wouldn't place first, but ur foundation is solid enough to get u up high in the ranks. Just quit being a ***** and lift some damn weights... And where the **** is Hyde? I haven't seen that anorexic power lifting preteen in days.

I think ace is talking stage weight bro. Even the pros on their impressive cocktail of drugs they use only put on like 15lbs of stage weight in a year.

I'm not saying I'm going pro next year. And hurdle you don't have to be huge to win a pro card. Plenty of lightweights, middles and light heavies win pro cards every year. You just only see the big guys in magazines.

I know I can slap on 10 lbs in 2 months but quality muscle? No it won't be dense, mature looking muscle with nice full bellies.

I won't get smaller doing the other show. On the contrary I will probably come in 3-4lbs heavier and dryer/leaner.

Me and my coach will figure it out

oh I know there's different classes, didn't you say you want to be 240+ tho? And yeah you can still gain with the extra show, but you would def put on more muscle clean bulking for that time instead of cutting. I'm sure you will make the decision that's best for you man, like I said you're going to be killing it either way

Oh I see what you meant lol. I think it's possible to do the show in June and pack on weight after. If I am sitting shredded 212 stage weight for next year I am right on track. I just need to keep growing symmetrically. Lots of emphasis on hams and back before next season. Especially now that I have diet and my supplement science down the training is the hardest part lol

yeah man, I need to bring up my hamstrings also, gonna be slamming them, and do he honest I feel like my back is probably the area I needed to bring up second, weird. Too bad u live so far away, we could push each other to the point of nausea each day :-/ haha

Yeah man too bad. I would love to push some serious weight with you.

I got some pretty serious ham workouts you might enjoy. I literally grew hamstrings in less than a year

haha, well send one over if you want, I'm always up for trying new routines, I switch it up all the time

I want to know what you do to get those boulder delts.
shoulder press, lateral raises and front raises work great if you push yourself hard. Most people are scared to push their delts, when I had someone push me hard for delts I went from doing lat raises with the 30s to the 50s in about a year. Gotta keep form strict and try not to cheat reps too much. If you have a partner a great exercise is to sit on a flat bench for lat raises and have ur training partner sit behind u to spot you. By sitting u can't really use any momentum and having ur partner spot u under your arms to get a few forced reps at the end works wonders.

I want to know what you do to get those boulder delts.

For me it wasn't until I stopped trying to go heavy on lateral raises. I put all off the very heavy lifts in the front oft workout and exhausted my shoulders then finished them off with serious volume. That forced pump after exhaustion builds massive separation and stretches muscle fascia while shuttling nutrients. A basic shoulder routine for size would look like this when I started

BB shoulder press 5x6

Machine Press 21s for 3 sets low/high/full

Lateral raise death sets-
Thumbs out 10 reps
Thumbs in 10 reps
Thumbs straight 10 reps
Thumbs out 10 reps
For 4 rounds

Behind neck smith press 3x8

Seated lateral raise FST7

That was a basic one I used a months ago. You need to remember that the shoulder has 7 deltoids but only 3 heads. It takes different ranges of motion to work them all. You MUST pause at the top of the lat raise to activate the deltoid and lower the weight controlled or else you rob yourself the contraction that stimulates IGF release.

yeah, I should've gone into further detail. I typically start with my heavy compounds, shoulder press or military. 4-5 sets of one, then 3 of the other. Then go into the raises, but I keep reps 12+ always, just forced myself to increase my weights over time by having a spotter. I'll do 4 sets of sides and 3 of fronts. Then I usually burn out on a military press machine. I bet fst-7 for delts would be sick. I may just try that out next week. And yes I 100% agree on the pausing, and keeping the weight controlled, I do my raises slowly and go as high as I can and squeeze at the top. I even like some of the lateral raise machines because they keep constant pressure on your delts.

Good stuff. I don't do ANY front delt work. Chest days hit the hard already plus any overhead style press does too. If I hit them on shoulder day to with raises they grow faster than my chest and overpower it... Delaying chest growth. Just food for though since a lot of guys have over developed front deltoids

Do the show Dave, you're in this for the long haul. Get that safe experience mags mentioned. It will be very beneficial. This is a marathon dude. I think you will learn a lot about yourself when you step on stage. From this log it seems that prepping is something you do very very well. You need to see how you react on stage.

Do the June, then make your decision as to more shows or just training.

thats funny because I only do them every other week or so and I only do like 40s. I worry about them growing too much because when you throw up to flex your bicep a huge front delt will make your biceps look a lot smaller, I've hit my chest enough where it's not a weak point anymore, I used to have a bird chest and just killed my chest once a week for years.

This has been a principle I've used for a long time. And I'll try to do more volume on delts than another upper body part. Almost as much as lower body. Still can't seem to get them to grow proportionate to my body.

God I love heavy metal, food and heavy weight. I don't know how people could live without it. I just spent 3 hours cooking food and thrashing to brutal face melting riffs on max volume. Now food then off for a viscous leg workout
