Creatine in morning times????

Hi everyone,

Ive always heard that you need to be drinking ALOT of water when taking creatine otherwise your kidneys will have to work overdrive and you will get stomach cramps. Ive been starting to take creatine....drink at least 3 litres a day and do not get any pain/cramps. I see alot of people saying to take creatine first thing in the morning but will this not then give you pain/cramp as you havent drank any water yet? Also when is the best time to start taking creatine? I was going to try the loading phase but going to stick with about 3-5 grams per day. Any help/ advice much appreciated!!! :)

your going to get a ton of different answers, but it really makes no difference on when you take the creatine and there is no reason to load the creatine

i used to take creatine in the morning because then i'd go to work and drink a ton of water at work...but i couldn't tell a difference one way or another

No need for before AND after IMO. Pick one. Lot of people take way too much creatine. 3-5 grams pre or post should suffice.

It can be dosed at any point through out the day, no direct added benefit pre or post

It can be taken anytime of the day. Me personally I like it post. It keeps me pumped from the workout.

Thanks again for all the info! My main goal is obv to build muscle but i really want to add mass. will creatine do this for me if taken every day?

Nope

It recreates ATP mid set by donating a phosphate to ADP. So you'll be able to crank out a couple more reps if you work in the 3-12 ish range. Food will add mass. Creatine will add intensity and volume to your workout

Well put mister

I take everyday as well and have for years. That whole thing about cycling creatine IMO is crap. So what, your cells stop ATP synthesis over time due to creatine supplementation? Come on.

Its not crap my man. Supplementation with creatine downregulates Creatine transporter 'Creat1' over time. In built cycling by using on workout days only will help prevent this + once saturated, theres no need to dose everyday.

Saves you money.

Personally I only use creatine on workout days. 4-5 times a week.

Haven't noticed any difference from not taking it every day.

I'm the same way. Dosed ED for years and now just on lifting days.

Dosing everyday? How are you still alive??? Dem kidneys!!

Not srs lol.

I dose ED, splitting 2.5 grams pre and post workout. I find the consistency beneficial. Having said that, I do cycle it for reasons mentioned above.

The way I see it, when using, go hard. Then take time to flush the kidneys. I feel it's good to cycle any supplement (besides protein and multi of course). at the very least it makes you appreciate being "on"... And noticing the difference between your on and off periods. Plus there must be something to be said for giving the body a break, whether for tolerance reduction or just to detox. Just my thoughts though...
