breezy's training, supplementation, and food log

I've moved the majority of my training sessions to the afternoon/evening, as it works out better for how I'd like my diet set up and I'm enjoying the later workouts. I prefer having my morning meals high fat and protein (with greens/veggies), adding carbs later in the day, and making sure to include carbs in my final meal (or 2, depending on training time) at night. This approach is easy without early morning gym sessions; however, peri-workout nutrition is still #1, so I start my day with carbs (pre-workout) a couple days per week. The amounts may differ from late training days, but are enough to support my training and recovery. In this situation, I use high fat and protein meals throughout the middle of the day and save some carbs for night. I'll try to provide additional details about my diet when I have more time. Most likely that'll be this weekend and the next time I make a small adjustment.

Here's one of today's morning meals.

*grass fed beef, diced turnip/turnip greens, grass fed butter, fresh cracked black pepper

I don't eat turnip/turnip greens often, but it was good, especially with the butter, beef, and pepper. It's 3g carb (2g fiber) per cup as well.

I'll be training legs this afternoon, having my cream of rice meal pre, intra drink during, pasta/chicken post, and turkey/jasmine rice/veggies for my final meal.

I laughed. What was what about?

Just wondered what the article was about with the times, etc. No biggie... was hilarious.

-Not my usual TJ's, but it's new and massive. It's right next to Marky Mark's burger place too. wasme they are opening a second Whalburgers in Toronto, directly across the street from Wayne Gretzky's restaurant.
.

I still enjoy going to Gretzky's, if nothing just for the memorabilia. For a moment I though you were going to say that they were opening a TJ's here, lol. Now that would have been sweet, but Whalburgers sounds great too. Thanks for the heads up.

That looks nice and tasty!

It was. I'm having it again shortly.

Oh, that's a "police report". They're printed in all the local newspapers down here.

I've never been to Toronto. Lol sorry to get your hopes up. I'm surprised TJ's isn't up there yet.

Last night's light leg session went well. Lots of squats and Olympic hockey on a massive screen.

I'm having issues getting on AM from my cpu and my phone is gonna die (getting a new one soon). I'll try to get back on with an update later tonight.

You are welcome any time! Hopefully one day they will be.

Gotta love the Olympic hockey. Although I think Canada should have beat Norway by far more than 3-1.

I saw the Whalberg show last night that you mentioned. It was all about them opening in Toronto. Was pretty funny.

I'm staying with family for the rest of the week and access to AM is limited (cell phone service/use of CPU). My diet and training are going great and I'll see if can get a solid update posted sometime soon.

I haven't been able to check in on AM much, but should be back to posting regularly this weekend. I got in a pretty serious car accident last night on the way to the gym and am thankfully ok. Some guy t-boned my car going 80mph+ in a 30mph zone. Luckily, he hit my (empty) front passenger side because it could've been a lot worse. We were both fine, but I'm guessing that my car will be totaled once I can get the insurance company to come look at it. Hopefully, I can get some form of transportation soon.

Glad to hear you both are okay man. That's pretty scary. If you end up days without a way to the gym, I'll come pick your ass up

Damn, thankfully you and the other guy are okay. But why would he be doing 80mph in a 30mph?! That happened to me once as well. Scared the sh!t out of me.

And that sucks about your car man. I just had to take mine into the shop and don't know when I'll get it back.

Hope everything gets back to normal for you soon.

Thanks man. I was surprised the kid was alright when I saw his car. Yeah, the guy came out of nowhere and I didn't even see his car before impact. 2 cars stopped to let me and the police know that the guy flew past them and was driving out of control. Hopefully, I won't have to miss much gym time. I made it in today and think I'll have a ride tomorrow as well.

Sorry about your car but glad you're okay Matt!

Thanks gokix! Much appreciated.

Thanks man. Good question. Yeah, I was horrified.

Me too. This insurance stuff is a pain and I doubt anything more can be done over the weekend.

Was the dude drunk?

I don't know if there was alcohol involved, but he didn't seem sober. The people who stopped thought that his military plates might've helped him out of that situation.

Hey Matt.. glad to hear you got out of that unscathed. Shame about your car, but its just a car... the important thing is you are good!

Glad you're ok Breezy. Daym, what a year.

Sorry to hear about the accident, but glad your ok. Hope all is well man. AM brothers got your back. ;) :)

Glad to hear your ok, scary sh!t

Wow! Very happy to hear you are ok buddy.

Thanks guys. I still don't have a car, but haven't missed a training session yet.

These showed up last night and I'm thoroughly impressed. I swapped out my final meal (chicken/rice/veggies) for a couple bowls of OEProtein and cream of rice, which was awesome. I'm pretty excited for today's pre-workout meal and will have to make some ice cream this week as well.

I had an awesome leg session last night. They're getting ridiculous and I love it. One of the highlights was a bodybuilding take on Westside BB 8x2 squats. It called for 10 sets of 5 to a low box (just tapping/using as a guide and not sitting on), with 40-45 seconds between each set. Meadows noted that he actually did 15 sets, so I did the same (might've actually done 16). I did a couple warm up sets to get up to 315 and used that weight for all working sets. They was no grinding involved (which was the goal), so the weight was a solid choice. It was some serious "HIIT" and I was ready to drop at the end. Sets of leg press with 45 sec rest, one giant leg extension drop set, and BB SLDL followed the squats.

Here's the first of the 15 (or 16) sets:

I think I'd like to try those HIIT box squats next time. Also, you're holding out on me... I didn't know there were new flavors!?

I can't wait to try the cream of rice. I'm getting my protein shipment this week, I'm totally out.

I was out of protein for the last couple of weeks as well. I was adding almond or peanut butter, blueberries, cinnamon, and occasionally walden farms syrup to my cream of rice. I'd eat 4oz of chicken for the protein portion of my (pre-workout) meal.

It was intense, but pretty fun. My bad :(. They've been available for the last month or so, but this is the first chance I've had to try any. There's a Banana flavor available as well.

Great mix ins for the cream if rice, thanks

No problem man. It's definitely better with protein powder included though.

Speaking of which, I just made some ice cream.

It was delicious. I picked up some of the So Delicious sugar free vanilla coconut milk to give it the "real" ice cream consistency. I'll probably make some with Strawberry Cheesecake later this week. Maybe a cheesecake too.

Protein ice cream! How do you make that!? Yours looks like real ice cream!

With care :). I've perfected the art of protein ice cream making lol. Check out the link that I posted in the thread below for detailed instructions with pictures.

Wow dude glad your alright. Been gone for a few days and just got all caught up.

I'm 12 weeks out from my competition (as of tomorrow) and decided to introduce some non-staple supps (Compound 20 and Alphamine). The rest of my supplementation includes AP, MD's Ultimate GDA, Modern BCAA+, Amino IV (got PES Insider with Alphamine), OxyELITE Protein, ALCAR, Hydrolyzed Casein (Peptopro), and HBCD (Glycofuse and bulk).

My weight is still around 210lbs, but my appearance has tightened up a bit. Calories are down slighty this week and progress should start to pick up.

Morning gym session today (2 this week) and my diet will be adjusted accordingly.

Box squat HIIT was a nice change up. Didn't use a box as low as yours but it was just below parallel. And then proceeded to finish the workout listed in the article you sent me. Thanks for the ideas! :)

No problem. Glad you enjoyed it g-kix! I'll try to come up with something new to try soon. :)

I took a pic this morning, but the quality isn't the best. Either way, being 12 weeks out from my competition, I wanted to have some kind of starting point to help track progress. This was shortly after waking up at 209lbs.

I'll be heading to the gym for a light back session this afternoon.

Look great man! The 12 weeks should be a breeze

Looking swole, b-zy! Can only imagine what the next 12 weeks will bring. :)

Thanks! Progress started moving after a small diet adjustment last week. I believe that I've been using Compound 20 for about 2 weeks as well.

Brandon Lilly is the guest this week.

Hard to believe you're 12 weeks out you look ready to kill it already.
Liking the looks of your prep stack hope it treats you well

Thanks man. The competition being pushed back gave me some extra time to take things slow, but I've still got a long ways to go before being lean enough for the stage. Hopefully, I don't have to sacrifice much muscle to get there, which can be tough. My diet/training approach is different compared to last prep (at least for now) and I think it'll help the outcome. I like that I'm getting to experiment with a new strategy as well. It should be a valuable learning experience.

Made this last night.

Creamy and delicious. I'm normally not a fan of strawberry proteins, but seriously love this stuff.

Today's schedule is different than I'm used to and I'll be training legs around 10am.

Damn you and your ice cream!!!!!! I finally got my shipment of proteins in but I'm putting them on hold cause I just got picked for the Iforce review of their new flavor, brown sugar maple oatmeal cookie. I'm going to make the ice cream with that for the log. You should follow if you have an extra spot on your subscribed list:) I'm with you on the strawberry protein. Maybe I'll give it a shot.

Looking like you are in perfect position to kill this next 12 weeks.

You could make a "test bowl" with your current protein and be ready for when your new tub arrives. I'll be sure to check it out, Pete. Yeah, most that I've tried taste too artificial, but that isn't the case with Strawberry Cheesecake.

Thanks man. That's the plan.

Today's leg session was ridiculous and had me close to puking at the halfway point. Thankfully, I'm done working for the day and will probably take a nap.

Update pic looking good breezy. You have definitely added some chest size, and lat width (it seems from that view). Next 12 weeks should be fun for you.
