breezy's training, supplementation, and food log

Your food always looks great.

Quick question regarding rice. Do you prefer Jasmine to Basmati? I have not had either (usually just brown) but am planning on buying either Jasmine or Basmati.

Not sure on breezy's preference but I prefer basmati. It comes out lighter and more fluffy, whereas Jasmine tends to be more clumpy/sticky.

They're both great options though.

Thanks wasme. I like them both, but usually go with Jasmine. I think I started buying those boxes from Trader Joes's because it was the only rice besides brown that was available in microwave bags at the time (there are a couple more kinds/blends now). I agree with ace's description as well.

When's the show again homie? It's in PA?

April 26th homie (12 weeks from yesterday). It's the Cutler Classic in Boston.

This has been my go-to pre-workout meal.

1/4 cup Cream of Rice, 1 scoop Vanilla Ice Cream OxyELITE Protein, 1/2 cup organic blueberries, 1tbsp almond butter, 1 cup water (occasionally unsweetened vanilla almond or coconut milk)

It's wicked good. I usually make it a little thicker, but didn't measure the water. If using Milk Chocolate OEProtein, I'll swap almond butter with natural PB. I can't wait to try it with the new OxyELITE Protein flavors as well.

Sounds good. I used Cream of Rice, PB, and Walden Farms Pancake Syrup when I didn't have OEProtein and it was great. I added cinnamon to my usual mix (vanilla) today.

I had an outstanding (heavy) leg session, early this morning (1 of 2 leg sessions per week). Strength was better than it'd been since before last prep and I was able to take my pain tolerance to a new level.

I worked up with sets of 6, using small jumps in weight on BB back squats. Once the 6 reps got heavy, I stopped. Here's how it went:

135x10
225x10
245x6
275x6
315x6
335x6
365x6
385x6
405x6
425x6

-below parallel

The last 4 sets were considered working sets. I was surprised by how light 405 felt (similar to 315 a few months ago), as I completed the 6 reps with solid form and speed. 425 went great as well, with minimal grinding on the last 2 reps. I started wearing flat/hard soled shoes, which felt better as well. Someone recorded the last 2 sets and should be sending the video to me later.

Hack squats with a challenge set and chain lunges with drop sets were part of today's session as well (5 exercises total). I was able to push both of these exercises further than expected. Each drop set of chain lunges finished when I crumbled to the floor using only bodyweight. My legs were beyond smoked and I literally couldn't get off the ground for a good 30 seconds after each set.

The next couple of days will be tough. I'll be at my father's wake this afternoon/evening and funeral tomorrow.

That's some heavy weight for squats x6. I'm glad to see you keeping at it through this tough time.

425. Pretty impressive. I know a guy ( on here lol) that did 400 once but he fell asleep in the squat rack trying to get it.

Awesome work breezy.

What are considered flat / hard soled shoes?

Thinking of you bro. Remember the good times!

Thanks wasme. Something like Chucks, as opposed to running shoes. I've used old pairs of Timberland and Lacoste sneakers, which both worked out well.

Thanks again, man.

I have that workout chalked up for Sunday. I'll see you're 425 and raise you 427.5!!!!

Found some 1.25lbs weights yesterday lol. I dunno if I'll even work up to that

Lol do it. Working up to 425 has me itching to move some heavy weight. Hopefully, there are some grinder sets coming up soon.

Nice work Breezy! Still trucking away with that serious work in here.

Thanks man. I'm trying. I did some serious work with restaurant and catering food the last 2 days as well. At least I still have 11+ weeks to work it off.

If anyone wants some giant trays of lasagna, chicken parm, chicken broccoli ziti, cookies, and brownies I have a bunch left that I'm looking to donate.

Edit: and 2 sandwich platters

I'll meet you half way. :)

Thanks gokix!

I thought about that too.

lol I saw that. If I didn't have to drive through the city, I'd go get me some free chicken parm.

It might take a while. I'm guessing schools were cancelled last night, so they aren't in any rush to plow. It's not too bad yet.

I'm heading to the gym and probably work after that.

Dude, it's free. And it's breezy, it's gotta be good.

It's free and delicious, but from a caterer.

-18 degrees here this morning.

-18 degrees here this morning.

It's actually pretty warm here (30 degrees), but it's making the quality of snow horrible to drive on. I had to push some guy's car off the train tracks because he decided that he shouldn't be driving and tried to pull a U-turn directly on them lol. I saw 2 other cars stuck in ditches between the north and southbound lanes on the highway as well. Thankfully, the world would have to be ending for my gym to close. :)

I had a solid back session a couple hours ago. Reps were a little higher than usual, which was pretty tough. Sets of 12 on One-Arm BB Rows had me close to puking. There were sets of 20 on trap bar shrugs and I finished with one giant set of BW hyperextensions. I couldn't move after 72.

I used 8oz of grass fed beef from one of Marky Mark's burgers with 2 cups of Jasmine rice for my post-workout meal. He and his brothers have 2 restaurants a few minutes from my parents house (both have really good food) and I just found out there's a reality TV show about the burger place (Whalburgers) on A&E.

Who the hell does a u turn on train tracks:/ I've heard that show is really good, was it a good burger?

A genius. :)

I got to "work" from home and just watched it. Not too bad of a show. Yeah, the burgers are really good and they have other food as well. Their other restaurant is at the same location and has awesome food too.

2 hours worth of shoveling. A burger sounds amaze balls right about now.

Fun. Go treat yourself to one, you've earned it.

A competitor buddy of mine informed me that the April 27 comp just got moved to May 24. I would've been eating differently for the last few weeks and I'm pissed...back to the drawing board.

You were competing on the 27th? I was looking to compete again on the 26th of April haha we seem to share competitive seasons.

Haha yup. Good luck on the 26th. I need to make some quick diet adjustments and see how this affects my plan for the other competitions that I was considering.

I'll be working (light/explosive) legs in the late afternoon/early evening, so my meals are moved around to support my training. I had 6 organic free range omega eggs, 1 cup of spinach, and 1tbsp virgin coconut oil for breakfast and am bringing the following to work.

My next meal is a Milk Chocolate OEProtein, almond milk, organic PB shake (big container). I would've had chicken and greens, but need to go shopping tonight. Grass fed beef, jasmine rice, broccoli and sriracha come next and cream of rice, OEProtein, organic blueberries, and organic pb are for pre-workout (small container). I'll have an intra drink with protein/carbs/BCAA and a big meal 1-1.5 hours after training.

Edit: black coffee is in the red travel mug

Yum.

What's in the PB shake?

Smart man planning and prepping all of your food ahead of time.

I spend a good chunk of my mornings in the kitchen. Looks like a well planned day, and I am addicted to sriracha that sounds good

Exactly what I listed. :)

It's actually going to be split into 2 "meals" and 2 slices of Ezekiel toast will be with one.

I didn't know I'd be working until last night and planned/prepped everything this morning lol. I took my brother to the airport this morning as well, which meant I had to wake up at 2:30am to have enough time.

I normally wouldn't have a shake at those times, but need to go shopping. I should have my morning and night training menus fixed by tomorrow though. I'm adding more calories via carbs, since my competition date has changed as well. There'll be 1-2 "carbless" meals (probably 2 on light training days/meal(s) furthest from training) until I lower calories.

and sriracha is awesome. :)

Sriracha or cayenne pepper (or some of each) goes on 90% of the savory foods I make :)

Nice. I usually include sriracha in one meal daily. I use Frank's a lot too.

I made some quick diet adjustments to fit one of these in.

Thread hi-jack for a second.....Would anyone be interested in following my prep log? I'm either 17 or 21 weeks out now depending on what show I do.

I may even start preping for the June 7 and switch gears to the July 12 (trying to move up a weight class).

Link? (if there is one?)
