The OFFICIAL Guns/Firearms/Knives Thread!

It wouldn't surprise me. People think bc they have firearms they could start a revolution or defend themselves from the government but we just wouldn't stand a chance; with or without. One guard unit prob has a stockpile of m-16s, which are obviously more effective than most ARs people are packing. .

Thank you for saying what I have always said on this board, they call people like us "sheeple" I call us people with common sense.

Their could be an agenda though..... Considering chicago already has a gun ban, it's possible for the govt to take those steps... I go both ways in it.

Bought a fun little 22 yesterday from a guy at work. It's an old Remington 582 made in 1978; tube-fed bolt action. It shoots 22S, 22L, and 22LR. It's got a nice Redfield peep sight installed and is a hoot to shoot. Lots of fun today playing with it. Also took out one of my other AK's I haven't shot. Weeeeeeee

Anyone ever tried bidgunner.com? Took me a while to really get it figured out but I won a Smith and Wesson M+P 40 for $95.00. Just have to pay the handler fee at the shop up the road. Thought it was a bunch of crap at first, but after learning the system it made a ton of sense and now I'm fired up to try and win more.

any gp100 owners here. i'm looking for a nice wheel gun and i think i've narrowed it down to the gp100 or 686. it's a fun gun so i don't really care how heavy double action is (within reason).

I don't own any revolvers but the gp 100 is one of my top 3. I don't think any handgun feels more comfortable in my hand then that gun. (The other 2 revolvers on my list are the LCR 357 and Redhawk Alaskan in 454 casaull)

my mom carries an LCR 38. that's a fun little gun.

Btw...pickimg up a new toy tommorow ;) ill post a pic or two so I can get some ideas what to do with it. Cant wait to start putting the bling and furniture on it!

Do y'all have ccw permits? I'm unsure of the holster I want. I'm leaning towards a Blackhawk with the lock-in button. I don't want this Sig1911 ultra sliding out

the issue I have with that type of holster is that it is uncomfortable. I still prefer leather with a thumb break. It conforms and conceals better.

Those are sweet holsters for non concealed, I have one for my P-95, but depending on where you're concealing the holster the release could be hard to manipulate. I'm with jack on this one, a thumb break is usually a safe bet for ease of release but secure and stable weapon containment. My ballistic nylon IWB for my .380 hides well behind my back, is comfortable, and I've never had a concern with the security of it's holding ability or speed of draw.

The serpa types are nice but they can be a pain to work under pressure. Are you caaryimg inside the waistband or under a jacket with a shoulder holster?? I just habe a simple vacuum formed kydex with a belt clip for inside the bamd carry and love it. My carry guns are a px4 xd and glock.

You should really try on a couple different ones. Before you make a final decision. Like said before they (Blackhawk with the lock-in button) are uncomfortable in a "Concealed" Carry option.

I kinda felt the same way when I got in to CCW I wanted the most retention as to not lose the firearm (to falling out or someone grabing it and using it on me). Most Civilian people that carry under a jacket or shirt (in the summers) want it as close to the body as possible to not have "Printing" of the firearm, to not be called out. And where you and I live I see this as a big problem. Try to go with a IWB (Inside Waist Band) if you can. (this for me is easier when I'm going to be walking around more then sitting down, because of the way the IWB holster is and gives the most Concealed profile, (I believe)). OWB (Outside Waist Band) is how I carry most of the time. It is easier on the waist when driving and sits nice when walking around. But it can "Print" easier then IWB holsters. And most pants give the OWB holster the ability to slide it to the left or right on the waist line.

Best thing to remember when looking for a holster is that it "FITS" your gun, and that it will close on the firearm when you put everything together (ei. your pants, belt, firearm, holster). The worst thing I see people do is take a holster and put a gun in it and then turn it all upside down and shake. Why you will probably never turn yourself upside down and shake, plus that never shows the fit when the belt and your body is putting pressure on the gun and holster to hold everything together.

Also make sure everything is comfortable. I once did a drive from Illinois to Florida with a IWB holster and I hurt after I got to Georgia, 21 hours later. That is why I OWB carry in the car. :)

Winter its relatively easy to carry because of the Jackets we wear. Summer is the problem because of lighter shirts and sweat is not your friend to the Firearm nor the holster.

When I get home today I can upload some pictures of the holsters I use.
All my IWB holster are from Invalid Link Removed Plus right now he is having a sale 15% off until March 1st.
My OWB holster is from Galco Invalid Link Removed Tho I'm not sure have to look when I get home.

All my holsters have Leather because its a little better on the skin. (I believe at least.)

Hope that helps. In the end its how you want to carry your firearm and how much you want to spend.

Awesome stuff guys. Yeah, the one I linked to is not a good ccw holster. Im thinking leather with a snap or nylon snap closure.
Illinois laws are so lame that no other states have reciprocity with ccw in Illinois

Whyi live in ms...where were allowed to have guns lol

Texas you have to have a chl to carry a pistols on your person but you can have them in your car loaded and within reach and long guns are legal to open carry for any sane non felon.

I use a N8 Squared Tactical IWB for my M&P and a little tacky pocket holster for my sigP938. The sig is great for pocket carry or IWB.

My .380 holster. Can go IWB or OWB and can change to left or right handed in either case. Love it.

I don't think I ever really caught a brand name. I got it from ebay. It's about 3yrs. old and has been abused pretty good when we practice tactical and quick draw maneuvers, and still almost like the day I first got it.

My newest little project! Just got it yesterday! I havent decided at all what im going to put on it. Its already got a full auto bcg and a chrome moly lined barrel. The stock trigger is already really crisp and nice so I actually might leave it as it is.

Im not real keen on the furniture it came with but a quad rail is a quad rail. Im probably goig to end up free floating it. Any ideas or suggestions on parts and toys to look into? Im probably going to put an eotech that I have on it and then get some iron sights later.

I've become a fan of adjustable fore end grips. Any thoughts on tactical straps?

honestly i just like the single point slings-theyre easy to use, they dont get in the way near as much and they still do a good job of supporting the rifle when not in use.

Furniture choices really should be dictated by how you intend to use the weapon.

CQB, RECCE, SASS, etc...

This is what I have more my home defense shot gun:

Hard to see I think, but I have it set up to do both, single point in the top pick AND strap style sling on the bottom. My strap actually doubles to become a single point as well so if I want to transition I can.

Thats a pretty boom stick you got bro. Nothing like the simplocity of a shotgun.

True dat. It's hard to truly have a home defense weapon that makes sense for every situation. But I feel the shotgun is the best way to go, in home or out. And my cheek pad is a shell holder too. I have bird shot in it now, the extra shells are bird and buck, just on case I need to make a point outside. It's a Savage 320. Pretty simple and basic with a few mods on my part, but it's surprisingly smooth. I've been trying to find an extended magazine tube for it but nothing yet. Haven't given up though.

Yeah ive got a few home guns- 2 are shot guns. Ive got a 12 and a 20. The 20 has a turkey load with an extra full choke while the 12 has a a few tungsgen duck rounds next to it. I wouldnt want to get peppered by either one lol

Do you worry about wall penetration though?

Do you worry about wall penetration though?

No more than with a handgun. The way our house is set up the only walls that would be penetrated would hit brick and they wouldnt carry into other rooms.

I know thats kind of naive to think that way and you should be prepared for anything but nobody goes in or out of our house without everybody knowing it. We have a pretty high tech alarm system as our first line defense and then weapons as a secondary means of protection.

Gotcha. Yeah, kind of hard to go thru brick. Our dog is our alarm system. He's awesome at it. He even senses raccoons on the other side of our garage, even when you can't see them until they come around the corner.

Anything new guys? Just picked up a new 308 will post up some pictures later.

Not yet, but using a bunch of old samples and signs from work to make a shooting gallery in our shooting pit/range. I'll post pics and hopefully a video when it's done and we're using it.

where do u get urs from? online?

Most of my Ammo I get is from Walmart. They still have decent prices. And Cabelas. But I also reload so that is the best prices for me.
