Na-r-ala and heartburn?

I just started using bulk Na-r-ala powder at 200-300mg before my first carb meal or PWO carb meal. I noticed that it did burn my throat quite a bit when it was going down, and I have to chase it with a lot of water when I take it. The effects seem good, but it has only been a week so far. One thing that did happen to me yesterday was horrible heartburn. Horrible as in incapacitating; I have never felt anything like it before. When I ate a half a bagel and some Pepto it calmed down a bit, but this morning it was back and got pretty bad at work before lunch and is still bothering me (not to the same degree, but it is there). The only thing that I have changed in my diet/supplement regimen within the past week was the addition of Na-r-ala. Could this be the cause of the heartburn, or is it probably a coincidence? I haven't gotten heartburn the whole time I have been taking it; only yesterday and today, but wow it was awful. Since it burned pretty badly going down, it was the only thing I thought of as a possible cause. I have read about people getting heartburn from ALA and RALA, but haven't read anything about Na-r-ala and heartburn. What do you guys think?

Thanks!
Tyler

Put glutamine in a cup n chase it with that

I don't have any glutamine unfortunately. I don't know for sure if it is the Na-r-ala though, since I have only had the issue yesterday and today and yesterday it came on 8 hours after dosing the Na-r-ala. Today I felt it when I woke up, and it did seem to get worse after taking the Na-r-ala, but here I am 8 hours later still feeling awful. Does this sound like it is likely from the Na-r-ala?

And is heartburn (and horrible burning pains in the stomach) a frequent side effect of Na-r-ala, or am I probably barking up the wrong tree here?

Thanks for the replies!

I don't know if its common with Na-r-ala but I have experienced it several times myself. I experience heartburn/acid reflux regularly with high doses of RK and capsaicin so I usually don't use any of the 3 unless I have Nexium or a big bottle of Tums. Try some tums before you take it next and see if that helps

Thanks man! I hope I can find some way around it as I just bought 50g of the stuff. If I end up needing an antacid every time I take it, I will probably just stop taking it all together. It's weird though, for the first 5 days, I felt absolutely fine, then yesterday it hit me like a ton of bricks after drinking a scoop of conquer on an empty stomach (the Na-r-ala was taken 8 hours before that). I thought it might have been the conquer, but I have been taking that for quite awhile now and have never had that reaction. Wow, was it an intense and awful feeling though!

Is there any way to minimize this when taking it (without taking heartburn meds every time)? I have just been taking a mouthful of water, pouring 200-300mg on top, and swallowing. Thanks! Tyler
I use to pour about 200mg into a 3-4oz of water then swirl it around for a bit. Quickly shoot it down then chase with another cup of water.

Well I don't love the thought of drinking that haha, but that is definitely worth a try. Maybe you're right and I just need to dilute it. I could also cap it if that would help, although I think I will have to take a few days off for now. I just took a bunch of antacids and ate some plain oatmeal and bananas (they are supposed to help) and I am still feeling awful. Honestly the intensity of it is making me wonder if it was really the Na-r-ala, but I don't know what else would have done it. No weird food, no booze, nothing crazy except for the na-r-ala and skipping my PWO meal yesterday. I am hoping this calms down by tomorrow. 8 hours of teaching was freakin horrible today. Anyway thanks for the tip!

Also when you took it this way did you still get a burning down your throat when you took it? I have noticed that this stuff does burn quite a lot going down

I honestly have never experienced this before at all, so I wouldn't be the best person to ask. Coop says it's a possibility and you're experiencing it, so it could be that it's just not for you.

I just realized that I also took about 250mg of Vitamin C with my PWO yesterday (and 3 grams dicreatine malate). Maybe that had something to do with all the stomach trouble. Vitamin C on an empty stomach isn't great I think.

Had the same issue with it discontinued use cause I couldn't deal with it

Thanks for sharing your experience. I am not sure when I will have the balls to give it another go. It's weird though; I never get heartburn from anything normally, and this was like heartburn, severe cramping, and horrible pains for hours (it's still not gone, but now it just feels like regular heartburn and a sour stomach). Was yours also super severe and long-lasting?

Also, do you get heartburn often from other food/supplements?

As much as it sucks, I guess I can always live without it if need be (I still have berberine for GDA purposes), but I was really looking forward to seeing what Na-r-ala brings to the party...I guess, so far, it's heartburn haha.

Thanks again!
Tyler

Cant you do that with products containing high doses of cap to prevent the burn?

Mike

Yea to some extent you can.

Or when you start to feel the burn you can do it

Aav2 will be on sale for like 20 for the new year and once it's gone, it's gone. I'll be reformulating

Luckily I capped mine.

Glad to know I'm not the only one taking the Na-r-ala like this! I don't like the thought of wasting any when I drink out of a small cup/bottle so I take it the same way you are.

I will vouch for the potency of this stuff though. My diet (lack-of) has been trash for the past year and my blood sugar got to the point where my vision would start getting blurry. That was pretty much the turning point when I decided to clean myself up. I started taking the Na-r-ala and my vision went back to normal within a week! This is a legit supplement.

That is impressive! Do you also notice that it burns your throat when you take it? Have you gotten any serious stomach-related sides? I am thinking that mine were just coincidence as it lasted several days and eventually switched from heartburn to severe cramps.

Thanks!

Buy in bulk then cap? I've never done this before. Pretty time consuming?

My wife got me a capping kit for Xmas, so I will be capping it after trying it again to rule out continuing stomach issues. Honestly, though, capping without a kit isn't too bad, either. Just put powder in a bowl, and press the empty cap down into the powder a few times until you feel the powder being compressed and then put the top on it. I can do 100 caps in maybe 20 min (although I usually just do it while watching TV and taking my time so more like 30). Na-r-ala might be a big PITA to cap w/o a kit though since it's so light and airy. I have "0" caps and wouldn't expect to get more than 100-150mg in one of em (I can get 400-500mg of berberine in one, for comparison), and that's if it would actually pack into the cap.

Yep, definitely burns my throat too. Once I have dumped the powder on top of the water in my mouth, I don't swallow the water, I just allow the water to shoot down my throat so that I miss most of the burning it may cause if that makes sense. I haven't really noticed the heartburn although I do get indigestion from time-to-time. I hope it fades for you, because the efficacy of the product speaks for itself. I have my mom taking it amongst a few other things because she has somewhat of a fatty liver and her enzymes are starting to clean up.

Yea man the science in has been pretty solid supporting that
