Has anyone else invested in a "bumpfire" stock?

I put the Fostech Bumpski on one of my WASR's. I think it was worth every penny. Not necessarily practical, but it's more impressive than I would have thought; and all hell of a lot of fun to shoot.

I may start working on an AK-74 build this winter and put it on that.

I have a friend in Reno that has one on his AR. It works surprisingly well

They are definitely more impressive than I would have thought.

The ATF apparently approved this new trigger that will be released early next year:

Anyone have an AR pistol? I never really considered one but the new extar exp has piqued my interest as a get home bag gun... $450 price tag, only 18 inches long... and can be lawfully concealed being a pistol and all. Thoughts?

Tansui. My dad and I had one a few years ago. The CarBon 15 I think was what it was. It was fun but there is nothing practical about it. Fun as hell for plinking though. If the extar is anything similar and you can get it for 450 go for it.

I'd SBR an AK before an AR. 5.56 with a sub-16in barrel just isn't doing the round justice from what I've seen.

There fun to take the range and a bug out bag. You really can't put anything on the front of AR pistol like a Forward Grip to control the rise, because I believe it is a illegal in some states. Along as the collapsible stock will not work. Unless you turn it into a SBR.

Carrying as a CC weapon, I'm guessing it is legal because it is considered a pistol, but would be kinda hard unless you are wearing a trench coat can't see it under a regular jacket. Not sure but it is your choice. I do like AR Pistols tho.

I was thinking of putting it in a backpack as a just incase.... but only if it's accurate (<2 moa) out to 50 yards with a cheap reflex...

I don't carry a SpringField XD but http://www.kholster.com/ has some nice IWB if you want to carry that way and great prices $41.00 + shipping for IWB. I have 2 of his holsters one for a Walther P99 and another one for a Glock 19 both are very nice. I used the P99 one on my trip to Florida 16+ hours wearing it. Knew it was there but not too much problems. Tho I would have preferred a OWB which I have now that I use when driving long ways. If I'm going to be walking around more then driving I go with the IWB tho.

As far as cost goes Its all going to depend on the upper receiver and weather or not I want to go with polymer or steal lower If I had to guess I would say between 500-700 I would like to keep it on the lower end if possible

Are you doing a pistol or SBR? I'm building a budget 5.56 pistol with the SB-15 Sig brace now (parts were all ordered Friday). better than the hoops id have to go through for an SBR.

First thing you will want to know is you will have to get a $200 tax stamp for the Lower Receiver. That is on top of the cost of the total gun. There are different ways to build you SBR. Options like starting with a Pistol AR. or Ground up build. But the $200 tax stamp you can not get around. Well I guess you could build it with out the Tax Stamp. But you get caught with a Unlicensed SBR and you will have a lot of time for working out in the State/Fed prison.

Now done with the Fed Tax/ bad stuff that could happen.

Building one is really not different then a 16" AR. The 9mm just uses a insert for the mag well to take the stick mags for the UZI (I think that's what it uses). And ofcourse the upper is built a little different but not much. Best to buy that built, but if you want build it yourself go ahead its not that hard but get your head space right. The lower receiver parts I don't think are that different aside from the trigger (I think on the trigger), and the buffer (have to have a different buffer I believe a solid). Have fun with it when its done.

I'm building a 300 BLK SBR, but with that there really isn't anything that is changing but the barrel from a 16" AR. Just the wait for my tax stamp to come back.

Here is a FAQ from AR15.com:

And this is why I love AM I did not know about that stamp tax. That would have been the last thing I needed, go out to the range where the Sheriffs train and get popped for having an illegal firearm looks like I am going the pistol rout with the sig brace

This Rifle would be great to get. Then later if you want to get a collapsible stock for it you can just change out the brace after you got your stamp.

I may yet put a collapsible stock on mine and convert to an SBR down the road, but the atf (form 1) approval process is upto about 10 months and you must have the stamp prior conversion. Also note that in CA where a couple of you guys live you still have to have a fixed stock. I'm in TX so none of that silliness for me.

True and after you have your stamp you have to engrave your lower with your information like name and I think stamp number. Before you can put even put the stock on.

Thanks guys I'll try to shoot a video when I can. It's chambered in 5.56 NATO so it will shoot 5.56 or .223.

300 ACC Blackout would be cool but I like having a standardized round.

The flash hider should just come off with an allen wrench? If not any gunny store can help you out for next to nothin if not gratis. And blanks can be had for about 50 bucks for 500-more than enough lol you can always make your own too

Ill have to check it out the only thing I am worried about it the fact that i live In ca and there is some law against having threaded barrels so I am not sure if the hider is welded on there or not.

Thinking of a 9mm compact so the wife's first experience won't be so ".45ey"

Kimber looking good and a biometric hand scan safe for starters. Any thoughts? And I ready need 2 but since we're starting with just 1, do I keep it next to the bed or in the main living room?
BTW Illinois gun laws are the worst of 50. You can't even private sale without approval from the state police.

Im sorry you live in illinoise. I almoat got arrested driving through because i had a gun in my car-ridiculous.

Imo-keep in the bedroom in a place thats easily reachable. If you need it at night-its rifht there quick and handy. If the wifey needs it during the day-stats show that she has the best chamces if she can barricade herself in a room. It wouldnt be a bad idea to show and teach her the best way to take cover in a shtf situation like that. Just my. 02

I agree with my man Manotaur. Keep it in the bedroom. You are most venerable when you are asleep and you would hate to have to wake up realising that someone is in the house and then be forced to make your way to the living room
