I would love nothing more than to pack up shop and leave this ridiculous state, but with all my family here and a decent job the pros out way the cons when it comes to staying. But if you can or know some one that can hook it up with a 100k a year job with benefits FL can count on one more law abiding resident.
you can afford a bit of a pay cut, cause you won't be paying 4% state income tax, 2% extra in sales tax, higher prices on food, rent, etc. You can rent a 2500 sqft house for $1400 a month in Tampa. 2 bedroom apartments findable in the 600-700 range.

Yeah definitely berdan primers. There is a way to convert them to boxer primers, though. I'm pretty sure that all of Hornady's 7.7 JAP rounds are boxer primed. I'm going to pick up some of the equipment this fall, so a priming party it is my friend.

-T1
depriming berdan is this close to torture, at least with original 40+ year old military primers. its supposed to be easier with the tula primers since they're softer

berdan.jpg

the amount of time (and pain in the ass) it took to do those, plus the number of ones I destroyed the anvil.... I need some regular 308 brass and large rifle primers :)

Got a gsg1911, supposed to be the same thing, definitely a great plinker. Goes great with the gsg5 mp5 lookalike.

Ive got an inside line on parts and accessories for gsg stuff, so right now Im a happy, thrifty .22 shooter again, lol.

I save the expensive .45s for bowling pin competitions at the range.
Agreed :)
Have to hold that thing FIRM though to prevent stove pipes and FTF.

Everyone, I would like to put this here for everyone.
This has nothing to do with the actual guns but this administration idea that this is a start on blocking and controlling our hobbies.

Please share and help because is could just be the start.

Email Blast:

ACT TO SAVE THE M1 GARAND!
The Obama Administration has stopped the importation of M1 Garands, M1 Carbines and other U.S. produced curio & relic firearms through a "policy decision."

We are writing to you regarding the recent Executive Action by the Obama Administration, specifically the policy decision in which The White House stated:
“Today, the Administration is announcing a new policy of denying requests to bring military-grade firearms back into the United States to private entities with only a few exceptions such as for museums. This new policy will help keep military-grade firearms off our streets.”
Based on this Executive Action the following petition should be signed:
https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/retract-executive-order-against-re-importation-us-military-firearms/Gw1Pc64d
American gun owners, collectors, dealers, distributors and retailers should sign the above online petition to The White House seeking reversal of President Barak Obama’s Executive Action against the importation into the United States of the WWII era U.S. M1 Garand rifles. The President’s recent decision will not allow the M1 Garand rifle to be imported into the United States. These firearms are highly sought after collectible guns and valued by U.S. veterans, sport and target shooters, and members of reenactment clubs devoted to bringing the History of World War II to life with public displays. These rifles are also used for participation in parades and variety of other community activities. These are not modern military weapons such as machine guns, and present no public safety issue in America. Please sign the petition now and get your customers to do the same.

Little quite around here.
Just picked up a new AR lower. Thinking of making a SBR maybe around 10". Not sure if I'm going to do in 5.56, 9MM, or 300 Blackout?

And also picked up a Eotech 553 for $300 at a gun show. (And it is real, I checked) :)

What you say make much sense. Funny was in grocery other day look at some golf magazines happenstance also to a shock seeing like maybe 3 golf magazines then like 10 gun ammunition magazines on about how to store ammunition, how to get guns, how to build bunkers, etc. and saying to myself is this crazy in grocery store like is some revolution upon the brink soon lol

There is a vid on Youtube where a guy melted his AR barrel because he was throwing so many rounds down range with one of those slide fire stocks.
The 22 rounds are a little bit harder to get going with a slide fire because there is almost zero recoil.

I'd like to put the Bonesteel folding stock on the SGL, but I've been busy buying other preps these days, not to mention trying to save. Not enough cash to go around these days.

I'll let you know later this week. I'm taking her out on Wednesday for a "commie gun day" shoot. I'm very impressed with it from a structural standpoint so far. I've ordered a midwest industries extended ak handguard upgrade for it. You can't go wrong with any Arsenal gun. They are quality. I LOVE my ak's! :D

Bonesteel makes great stuff. I'm going to eventually add one of their side-folder stocks to my vepr 12. I'm still slowly prepping along myself. Naturally, the wife thinks I'm nuts...lol.

Did you watch "American Blackout" on National Geographic yet? If not, it's a must-see my friend. Pretty frighteningly accurate of the chaos that would surely manifest itself, imo. The lesson to take home from it: Be prepared.

I watched it this week. I felt the same way; they did pretty well with making it accurate and believable/realistic. - I've never been one to fear power-grid outages, solar flares, EMP's, etc., but I guess it's all possible. I mainly got into survivalism because of the skill-set associated with it; I'm a self-sufficient person and don't like relying on others. My main fear is economic collapse (inevitable, unlike terrorist-related incidents), but if you're prepared for one you're prepared for all.

Water, food, and guns to protect it. :)

Space is starting to be a concern. I need a bigger place!

Hope you guys saw this^^^^

I personally believe things will be more costly, but I don't know how true it is that it'll be extremely difficult to get a hold of. - Really a bunch of crap that we're sending OUR mined goods overseas to have them smelted, and then sold back to us at higher prices.

I love the earth, and I believe conservation is very important, but the EPA hardly does anything to protect our environment and is just another arm of government looking for their taste. I don't know what people expect when they put these people in power.

Capitalism and industry are not the enemy here, it's greed.

I agree that if you prepare in general you'll be ready for whatever it may be. The economic collapse is coming whether people want to believe it or not. That is definitely a more likely scenario for mass hysteria in the near future, but the wild card of a terrorist event like (cyber attack, EMP, dirty bomb, etc) is still always in the back of my mind. I think means of communication (CB/HAM Radio) along with safety in numbers would be mandatory for long term success/safety. If it is an EMP, I guess those who put vital electronics in a faraday cage will be good-to-go.

I'm totally running out of space as well my friend. I think my wife is going to kill me....haha! :D

If you haven't read this check it out. I have it coming. I've heard nothing but good reviews from those that have read it: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0765356864/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Yeah I saw it the other day. They are looking at every possible scenario to make it difficult to obtain ammo. The DHS was absolutely buying it up in massive quantities to dry up the civilian market of ammo. Anyone who thinks otherwise is just plain ignorant to the facts involved.

They know they'll never get the guns (protected in the constitution), but they can circumvent it and go after the ammo on the political front. What better guise than using the EPA to shut down the last lead smelter in this country due to "environmental protection." It's obvious what the ulterior motive is, but they'll easily play it off as an environmental protection action for the better of the country; what a load of sh*t.

FEMA is the governmental agency that scares me the most. That whole agency is shrouded in a cloak deception towards the American people, imo.

I like my smith and Wesson model 681 looking to get something smaller for carry either a hammerless snubnosed .38 or a subcompact hammerless 9mm semi. Possibly an AR type carbine just because my wife's trained on an m16 and it would be something she's familiar with, but then I live in a duplex and all the homes are close together making rifle rounds impractical for home defense so I may just have to train her on a handgun

A Taurus Judge would be a great option to look at-It shoots a variety of ammo from 45 long to .410 shells that have loads designed specifically for home defense as well as some fun little specialty rounds (pepper blasters, bean bags, rubber bearings, etc) There extremely afordable and easy to use.

Ive got 2 of them. One I keep as a nightstand gun and another one that I carry on occassion for PD and its also an excellent snake and hog gun if your ever out in the bush

You could always Build or buy a AR15 with a 9mm barrel. use 32 round uzi(?) mags. Functions just like a normal .223 but could load up with home defense rounds.

Not saying go with Rock River, but not a bad one. I personal would just build it.

Sounds like you want 2 or maybe 3 guns... smaller for carry and something the wife can use...

If your primary sidearm is going to remain the 681 i would think about an Airweight revolver its hammerless and keeps the same battery of arms as your 681. Taurus and Ruger have different cylinder releases which makes for more training to be efficient which is very important especially with revolvers (Reloading a revolver under stress can be taxing so it helps if your revolvers work the same).

A Judge is a very large carry weapon by most standards, if it's something your comfortable with that's fine... but in Texas you probably won't like wearing enough clothes to conceal it year around then it will become your winter gun and you'll get an Airweight anyway for a summer gun.

As far as a rifle it's hard to beat an AR for utility, swapping uppers makes it a 5.56 or 9mm (or nearly anything other caliber for that matter) when the task changes. The fact that your wife is trained on it only helps.

Lastly, if both you and your wife are carrying you'll need another gun lol.

Almost the same here. I've been building ARs from kits. Enjoy it a lot. I've also bought a couple 80% polymer lower kits for the kids. I have to finish the milling but its fun. And I don't need a huge machine shop for it. Oh best part. No paperwork needed. :salook:

I figured as much. And a class vii?? Whats the defination of a class vii? I figured any class 3 would be able to do it?

So its kind of like the soviet ak kits? All factory built and ready to go minus the parts that make it full auto?

Well, its just minus the main receiver portion, or (depending on the gun) its got its receiver cut into pieces that you can reweld. So it is by default the original full auto, unless you make changes. And to retain legality you have to make those changes in the process of building, or it has to be built by an appropriate manufacturer and registered as an NFA item, etc.

Yeah, maybe it does just require a class 3, I'm working with a class 7 which allows for silencers and a few other things as well as full auto and SBRs.
