I have 3 buffet meals with lots of protein available to me at college. Will eating whole food (tuna/cottage cheese) vs drinking a whey shake affect my muscle gain and or recovery??
Just eat protein and don't overthink it.
You absorb the whey within 30minutes so it is more beneficial directly after your workout. But should be followed up by a hole food meal.

^ ^I drink Isotean or Protean right after a workout and then go straight home (usually) and eat a large meal. I think it is beneficial to have both because the powder will start working quickly until you can get some whole foods in.
