What's with pressing in the smith? My wife showed me that nonsense around January. I'm like what the... I press well over a thousand for reps, how am I supposed to imitate that type of strength and movement while lying on the floor pressing upwards? It works well for women and shyt as an alternative to true leg press when light weight is used but c'mon!

It wasnt even a press really. Laying on the ground with elm feet in the underside of the bar and lifting his hips off the ground.

On a positive note: My pants are loose enough again to where I can start packin my heater on my hip again

Burn em brotha!

Just kidding. You can't get away with homicide on civilians even though sometimes it would be the simplest answer. Like, "do it, just do it, please pull out a pistol so I can blast your ass!"...

Psh with all these psychos out shooting up crowds of people, there's no telling when that's going to happen near you. I've got 12 rounds to burn and I'm a good shot. Self defense and defense of others. Completely justifiable. As long as its a last resort, legally.."CYA"

I have a nice little law that lets me carry concealed in any state regardless of their laws :D

That's tha truth. Turns out "safe zones" have become the most unsafe of all. Justification or no witnesses. Either way works

I'm a firm believer in packing, and concealing if you can and want. I'm a shower though, lol. "Look at me, I've got a gun!"

Problem is your going to get in trouble even if saving a bunch of kids because you can't carry in safe zones legally. Oh well. I hope I never pull it out. Chances are I won't.

Oh of course. Stupid Congress. I was referring to the concept of safe zones in general, they're a complete travesty.

I got put on blast by my buddies so bad when the last shootings happened for not agreeing with arming teachers. They shouldn't be forced to do that. They are there to teach not carry weapons. Plus what happens when a teacher loses it and kills errybidy its not about guns its about mental health, thanks Reagan. If someone wants to cause mass murder they'll find a way with any weapon.

For the record I'm all about arming citizens, even though some of them leave you scratching your head

Thoughts? I'm going in spurts where I care about my diet. I need something structured. I'm just eyeballing everything right now, keeping majority of carbs based around my workouts ect. Just trying to maximize my usage of calories while dropping lbs slowly.

Edit: X-Gels are making the elbows and shoulders not feel so great. Hittin up the baby aspirin.

Big fan of carb cycling myself. That article is similar to how I break it down. I have "high" days on all my full training days (four days per week), two moderate days (GPP/Prehab/Neglected Muscles), and one low carb day on my only full off day. Whenever I try to lose weight I just decrease the number of high days as necessary.

Depending on other factors sometimes I even alter the fat levels as well (some very high calorie days, some high fat low carb, some moderate both, etc). A lot of it is just for a psychological change for me as well. Focus on fattier meats, more oils, nuts, etc on some days and higher carbs lower fats on others just for a change of pace and different food choices on different days. :)

Awesome Bolt, thanks for the feedback. I may give this a shot (pending more reading)

Alphamine is my new best friend....Ton of energy.

I think it's worth a try. Here's another tnation article that goes over the basics.

I like Lillys take on dieting. 1000g carbs a day and 250-300g protein, and whatever fat as long as its good fats. Big and clean.

I guess since you are cutting look into carb cycling or lean gains. I cut weight like mad on lean gains before from 202 to just under 170 in about 6 months. And I wasn't really fat. I lost some muscle in there because that was durin the time I was in a full spinal brace and couldn't lift or barely walk... But I was lean AF at the end and still pretty strong. It definitely has the potential to work. The way I see it, I like carbs up high pre and post workout. If I won't be working out after ten I dial back to lean healthy foods, aka my weekend is very clean. But I demolish food the rest of the week. Your body is goin to use nutrients if they are available, we with the high levels of activity guys like us do, we don't really need to worry about a little bit of fat and certainly not high carb unless you have some predisposition where your body doesn't process nutrients correctly. There are gona be variants for every person alive but for the most part I think it you eat clean, put the carbs where you need them for energy for workouts and recovery, and keep the data medium and healthy, you can lose weight simply by decreasing total calories. Once the finer things are dialed in it does become a much simpler equation. This is why I do believe in IIFYM to some extent. You can eat junk, just not 100% of the diet.

You thinking of stepping up your HIIT for cardio?

I have been carb cycling for years and love the results. I also focus most of the carb intake around the workout. The highest GI carb source I use is fruit.

Basically what I follow just super loosely. I have never really felt the need to lose much weight. Personally I feel I can't make the best gains and be too lean. I've tried and failed with all kinds of diets. Some guys can buy my body likes to hang around 10-12% BF so why mess with a good thing.

I am never trying to drop weight. I am in continual bulk but stay pretty lean doing it.

That thing Lilly talks about in his cube ebook is nonsense or for lifters on a ton of gear IMO. Even when he sends a plan, it doesn't include all that madness. Little bit of sensationalism.

Gandalf the AZ Grey has it right. Add in carbs around a workout, but keep the glycemic load low.

I appreciate the advice guys. I have no problem bulking, slamming carbs, and getting strong as hell from it. I just feel like I don't have an specific control to my diet anymore when I'm attempting to 'recomp' a bit. The ultimate goal for the next few months is to be a big lean 198. Right now I'm a half sloppy 210 with big ol hammies.

Gonna figure my calorie intake tonight and start tomorrow. I'll eat shy above maitenance and increase HIT.

I love carb cycling. Much like bolt, I have high days on my training days (squat And pulling) then on my other training days I do moderate. Then on off days I go super low, fifty grams

50g seems ****ing crazy....I'll have no issue with 600g on high days so I'm sure that'll carry over to my moderate/low.

Example for this week-

Monday RE: Deads-High
Tuesday: Bench-Moderate
Wednesday: HIT-Moderate
Thursday: DE Squat-High
Friday: Off-Low
Saturday: Accessory day- Moderate
Sunday: Off-low

I'll wing it

Being depleted never really negatively affects me, likely because of my excess bf. Once that glycogen is flushed though the fat drops off and you can watch yourself tighten up late in the week.

I doubt I'll ever be lean enough to be flat & tired. ;)

I always thought ice cream was a power food... ;) lol. I think low fat ice cream in a small portion is fine.... and again IIFYM. don't kill me... lol.

I am never trying to drop weight. I am in continual bulk but stay pretty lean doing it.

That's me now. I only cut for track season in HS. I had to be big and strong to play ball, but strong and lean (and light) to sprint in track. I like to keep a balance now so lean bulk it is. I'm looking forward to starting some sprint training again.

Oh and sean, I look forward to seeing you at 198. We should meet just about in the middle if I keep gaining at the same rate I have, and you keep losing. I might stop at around 190 though and try and lean out a little bit depending how clean my gains look. I can't tell now, but strength is definitely going up.

Eh I was at a wedding so I had ice cream. I was also the only one who thought it was BS the steaks were only 8oz

We'll meet in the middle then. I want a 700lb geared squat under 200lbs then I want another raw meet to secure an Elite total. Big wishin

This sounds good, try this out see where you're at. Add in more low days as needed

Edit:
I'm not that lean (~10%) but after three days of fifty grams a piece in a row I flatten out.

But then I have two high days and by then I fill right back out, skin gets tight and I stay pretty dry too

Vascularity is up too

Ice cream is good, had a good bit this past week... I always eat it a few times a week though it seems.

I might beat you there, was 192 just a few mins ago at work... After this week and lifting again, and weighing in gym clothes not work clothes I'll get a better idea... I always hold some extra weight after not lifting and eating a ton. I ate hard this week, my excuse was to "promote recovery" for my trap issue. I think one night I had some tuna, two shark filets, a filet and a half of wahoo, and then my veges and potatoes and bread. Probably almost a pound in fish. I felt stupid full. I still look just as lean as when I left so I don't know where the weight is hiding. I do hate the fact I can never see my lower abs only the upper 6, but I gave up on that fight long ago.

I agree 8oz steak sucks if that's all you get. I like the cracker barrel breakfast w/ 3 eggs, choice of 8 oz steak, chicken, and hashbrowns. for like 8.50. You can't beat that. I take my girl there a lot because I can eat pretty good and clean unlike some places.

700 geared squat would be really sweet man. You are a squat machine so I have no doubt you will get there. I am getting back into back squats friday whether I feel like it or not... I still have a lot of tension but I am going to try and overhaul my technique w/ how I hold the bar, and hopefully get into a more true low back position and get some weight off my traps, hopefully be able to squat and still heal up. I am just playing with light weight and bench form today at work and focusing on hitting some good work tomorrow. Just stretched the back and shoulders out, did some foam rolling back in PT, and hit some focus reps with the bar.

What kind of bench are you pushing right now and what is your goal?

Appreiate the advice

lol @ "not that lean" and "~10%"...that's lean for this thread

10 is lean. 12-14 is probably where I am right now. Still lean but not the 6-8 some guys seem to carry so easily.

lol @ bench press's...who knows/who cares. anything over 300 and I don't die. It's a work in progress

Check out Becoming a Supple Leopard regarding mobility issues and squatting.

You're going to have to rename this to "skinny guys talk diet". Fu.kers.

Oh and also my three days at 50g carbs are my off / work days. I work twelves in a lab and don't need to move around like you do. Nor am I as large as you.
Roughly 5'8" 185-190 depending on what morning I weigh in on (high vs lows)

Lol you guys know my take on diet. Eat whole foods, I try to stay as unprocessed as possible; most of the time.

I quit counting calories when I couldn't gain weight and was stuck at 155-160. Now I eat a lot of whole foods and have carbs/fats/protein with every meal, 4-5 times a day, and keep track of the scale/mirror.

Gained 15 pounds since November and have stayed about as lean (or more so) while getting stronger and more muscular.
