Sean's Powerlifting Journey

Sean, if you are looking at getting GMS, check out the IForce Conquer stack. You get the preworkout and Hemavol(GMS) plus other goodies for a great price. Not sure if it is still avail though.

Yeah I saw it last night. Good idea AZ. I think I may have a little Hemavol left. I forgot that had GMS in it.

I think some of you Enhanced addicts will like the PES insider email that just dropped. ;)

I am going to race you to 400lbs at 160 while you chase 600lbs at 198! :D

I suposse I should cut back somewhere..

Damn, too bad @ this Insider. I love EP, but honestly my supp stashes (especially preWO) are maxed, as is my debit card. :(

You're hitting that soon dude

Reps shouldn't be dropping too low for me so I plan to try it in my mock meet in the middle of July. As long as things go smoothly I have no doubt I'll hit it. :)

Hm I mean snatch grip as in your hands are gripped out just inches away from the bar collars.

I say bulk up dude. I'm dropping to 198 because I think it'd be cool to say I have a 600+ squat under 200. I think I'll be a big 198. That and it'll make weigh ins at work easier for me. Aftery next meet in September I want to compete raw again at 220, but at a bigger leaner 220.

I wouldn't go with more than a 2 inch deficit for normal deadlifts. It'll be hard to keep the hips down. Even standing on another 45lb plate works too

Ah okay, I got ya. I don't like sumo form but I'm sure I could learn it over time. Maybe once I hit 600 on conventional I will try and learn sumo or just focus on my raw alternate to get it up that high as well.

I think in the end I would hate to limit my strength later In life. I'm young and still have a ton of time to grow. I can easily grow into a lean 198 over the next year or two. It's all about baby steps and small gains every week. That's what I like about the 5-3-1 and cube philosophy. Focusing on the long term goal and not getting caught up in getting a (1 rep) PR every workout.

You will make an insane 198. 600 squat would be killer. I would be happy with 450 at 181 lol. And i can't even do that quite to depth now. Squat definitely needs some major overhaul and focus starting next week. My trap issue in my back is feeling a lot better today so I gona keep taking care of it and rolling it until next week.

Standing on plates sounds good to me.

Good article on the snatch grip and how it differs from sumo and conventional.

My wifi at this beach house is F'd up right now barely works on the phone and the computer doesn't at all. The page wouldn't load completely on my phone but I will def give it a read. Thanks man.

By mid July, 400x1 will probably be an RPE of 8 at the rate you're going.

Gave blood for tests. Before/after lab work will be posted next week. Still taking cycle support for the health benefits, BP went down to 110/60 from 128/70. Heart rate is averaging 80 and doc is confident it's not tachycardia. Yet I'm still seeing a cardiologist "because the appointments already made"

Weak sauce about the apmt BS

I know. They weren't gonna have me go till they asked if it was scheduled. I planned on drivin home to get my alphamine lol

Silly med section. Oh well. Gotta get that paperwork signed off on to get that med hold taken off yer shyt I guess...

Good news, Sean.

Interested to see bloods.

My squat skyrockets, my bench goes backwards. Made zero improvements, geared or raw. Making me question a geared meet now. Barely could push 275x3

What was the bench variation of choice today?

What was the bench variation of choice today?

Wanted to see where I was raw. 225x6, 260x5, 275x3 (hit 4 or 5 back in the winter as a PR)

Threw the shirt on for a 2-board: 275x3 and 285x3 quick and easy. But I still suck. Foot placement is solid, back is tight, I tuck....****

vids later but here's the form

There's a lot of factors at play, though. The more often you bench with equipment, the more you will struggle off of the chest. I'm telling you, I hit 325 in the warmup room before my raw opener and it was a slow grind. I told Anthony (and anyone who was in the room) that I was going to get stapled by my opener, and I did.

PR means: the best you ever did ever. Being one rep away from that in the middle of a non-stim training week with all sorts of bull**** going on around you is nothing to sneeze at. Just take it one day at a time. You'll see when your REAL shirt arrives and you're smoking 365x3 off of a one-board.

Hard to say about the elbow tuck with the plates in the way, but if you look, you could wipe out a little bit of ROM if you touch just a little bit lower on your sternum. I bet you'll get a little more drive that way, too.

I'll try. I had a big problem on the last rep of the weights falling back towards my head.

Sticking points: off chest - shoulders...mid lift - chest...upper lift - triceps

Try not flaring them. That puts it on your delts and kicks it toward your head. Keep 'em in and you'll press in a straight line and get your lats more involved in generating speed off of the chest. I saw where Corey Hayes did board work with bands tied up higher on the bench (toward his head) and he was way on the end of the bench. Teaches you to press in a straight line and finish strong with the tri's.

**** my life!

Bench Press
225x6
260x5 (past PR 265x7)
275x3 (past PR 275x4 or 5)
275x5, x3 + 2-Board + Inzer HD Blast
285x3 " "

CG Incline
155x8x4

Barbell Rows
275x5x2
225x10x2
135x20

DB Cleans/Dips
20x10x3/BWx12x3

Buncha pullaparts with the mini and light band.

Whatever, I'll just go squat a **** load and feel better about myself and neglect my poor bench press as I have been :p

I'll chalk this up to a bad day. No more tobacco, no more caffeine (although I took a lil bump of some caffeine powder tonight shh) I'll use this as motivation to no longer ****ing suck.

I wouldn't worry about if you've been training in gear, it's to be expected. Only reason my raw bench went up in gear was bc of my weak tris. It seems for the most you have to sacrifice some raw strength when training consistently in gear.

Touching lower may not necessarily help if it brings him out of his groove.

You're right. I'll throw up the geared ones later. I was actually pleased with them. I guess I gotta get used to it.

You're making me feel better about my bench! Haha. I agree with herder he was spot on with what I was gona say.

I think it's like Brandon says in the cube. Using the gear lets us get weak. Not saying you are letting yourself but maybe as a result with working in gear so much either your form, mental drive/feeling of the weight, or even physical ability has been altered. I'm sure your still right where you should be and you could have had a bad day. Remember not every day is a PR. If you put in the work you can come back next week and smash rep PRs on a good day.

Now start sharing your squat magic with us! And well give you some bench. Right? I have some deadlift I can spare!

hahahah I was waitin for it

That's what happens when the command leaves a bunch of E-5s in charge of a unit

You know you want to be there..

I'm a little fat, little old, little hairy to keep up with you guys.
