Getting bigger and leaner with Alpha, 550, and Epi-V.

New gyms are always hard to get accustomed to. I have a free membership to 24 but every time I got I get frustrated because there are SO many machines. Very complicated place to figure out how to structure my session.

Yeah this is to few machine or alot of machines for the same workout. There is a bunch of chest machines and back machines but not much for legs and bi's and tri's. I'm going to see about going to a different gym and I know this one has everything so it will work.

I pay a little more for my gym but by golly it's got everything I could want...besides lat pullover machine.

Well that's the thing I payed 15 more for this new gym and it does not have what I need when I thought it did. The next gym is back to $20 a month no commitment but has absolutely everything I need. Il have to deal with a few more people but whatever I go at 5:45 in the morning anyway, people should be sleeping lol.

I wanted to try out a Smaller gym and I'm not a fan. 1 shower in the whole place and just not a ton of equipment. I like some stuff but hate other stuff, I love the location though but this will be short lived..
didn't you look at it before you signed up?
i solved all these problems a decade ago, building my own training facility in my garage..it's small and dungeonish too, but - i like that :)

Trust me snags when I settle down I'm goings to start working on my own home gym, and I did look at it but very quickly and as I said I was so pissed off on Friday I did not care I was just worried about getting into a new gym. It was my mistake. Luckily I sold my race car so I have alittle money to throw at getting into a new gym.

free weights, FTW ;) problem solved
i'm old-fashioned

I was referring to the lack of free weights :) besides cables I use machines sparingly besides legs.....if not I'll destroy my knee.

Snags might hate me for this one. Maybe I went overboard.Invalid Link Removed

You would be looking at easy $50 in any restaurant for that, sometimes I wonder why I didn't goto school for this sh!t. Also il say sorry to bean to when he sees this cause that boy is going to want it lol.

I'm not a big scallops fan....might try them again cause that looks awesome. So glad I'm not cutting like the rest of these pansies. :)

Yeah I cheated a bunch tonight. So I expect the weight to be up tomorrow morning.

I'm lucky my work pays for three different gyms and each gym has several locations, seven gyms in total to choose from :)

I'd be happy if my work did some sort of discount in health insurance for going to the gym. When my step dad worked for Michael Waltrip Racing as long as they did a certain amount in the gym at the shop they got free health insurance. It would be so easy for us all.

That is definitely a sick deal!

What do you do for work? I work for the railroad and there are a ton of gyms they pay for but they are all in Houston mostly. None in my immediate area.

I work in mines rescue for BHP Billiton in Australia. I get heaps of perks as it's a pretty specialized role.

Day 14 - 148.4 (+2.9lbs)

Well went to another new gym today and I am impressed. Very clean, great equipment, and very affordable. Not very busy in the morning because they have 2 fitness classes in the morning so 90% of the people are in those. Well today's shoulder workout was great, I have decided to work my rear delts on shoulder day, I think it's just going to fit better in the overall plan. I crushed my BB shrugs PR and still had more in the tank but did not want to do anymore sets. Il start much higher on my first set next week.

Machine shoulder press
40x10
55x10
70x10
85x10

Face down laying DB rear delt raises
15x10
15x10
15x10
20x10

BB military press
45x10
65x10
75x10
85x10
65x7

Arnold press
20x10
25x10
25x10

BB shrugs - previous PR was 180x7 on a smith, this is free bar no smith
95x10
135x10
185x10
205x10
225x10

Bent over DB rear delt raises
20x10
25x9
25x6

This workout felt fantastic.

Very solid wo bud. Nice shrugs btw :-)

Thanks bean, I'm never sure what's a good weight for me at my body weight but I plan on hitting 245 next week. If I brought the reps down for a few lift next week to see what my 3 rep max would be I could do that. What sucks is I don't have a spotter so I have to watch what I do when I'm putting weight above me. But it's all good, back day tomorrow. Also I have a question for everyone, when performing dead lifts do you generally do it on back day or leg day, I was thinking back day. Just trying to prepair for tomorrow.

Most do it on back day....but it's a big time leg movement....do them on back day but keep back an legs far enough apart for recovery

no wonder you got so much time to post :p
got a buddy who's a conductor for N&S .. lot's of dead time
(of course, he marks up all the time too)
pretty nice gig if you ask me, hella benefits

Yeah :) I don't do a whole lot lol. It's one of the best jobs you can have if you have no college. 80k a year with awesome benefits and its easy work. Can't complain.

Thanks monte, hmm il have to figure it out because back is tomorrow, then legs Thursday and chest Friday. I could move chest to Thursday.

Hmmm maybe this for next week
Monday - back
Tuesday - shoulders
Wednesday - bi's and tri's
Thursday - legs
Friday - chest

Man, two weeks already? If I remember correctly, that's when I started to see gains - weight & strength - and started to feel and look full and solid. Keep it up PRE.

Thanks bud, I am feeling a little fuller today. Strength seems to be up a alittle also. The recovery time between sets has gotten better but the overall body recovery has not changed. Lethargy is trying to kick my a$$, I guess it's good I work out in the AM because by the time I leave work I'm smoked.

What are you using pre workout?

Genomyx origin, no stims. It's something I wanted to try. If you have any advice il take it as I have to put in a NP order here soon.

You tried micro yet? Light stim very smooth energy wise, but focus and endurance are top notch. I have a few tubs and I'm not using it till my show is done I can send you one a few scoops gone but you can try it out

I appreciate the off bean, I may just buy some. I got the last NP email today with the gut health supp and I might jump on that too, I'm all for anything that makes my stomach not feel like crap lol. I know people love micro so il look at it along with others.

I'm a big-time muscle marinade and Condense fan. IGNITE has been really good too though. If you are stim sensitive I would go with ConDense. But one scoop of ignite or half scoop of muscle marinade would be awesome as well.

I liked MM the taste was not as good as condense but I wanted to stay away from Pre workouts that have creatine in them for the time being as I am using creatrona. I went thru a whole bottle of condense, I enjoyed the taste but that's about it. 1 scoop or 2 it didn't matter it just didn't effect me for some reason.

Damn. Non responder:) try IGNITE or micro then. Probably be happy with either of those.

I'm going to run ignite in PCT so it will probably be micro.

Here is a good one guys, planet fitness claims there new smiths machines are more natural then a standard weight bench. Ummm no. This is the response I received from them this afternoon. As I am trying to get out of my contract without paying a buyout fee.

Scott,

My name is Kenny; I am the manager at Planet Fitness in Westbrook. I received a copy of your concern about the benches and I am hoping I can help you with your situation. I saw the last day you checked in was the 22nd which was the day we were moving equipment in and out. The Olympic benches were removed, but they were replaced with other equivalent equipment. We now have angled Smith Racks by Hammer Strength, each with their own bench (two flat, one decline, and one incline). They are much improved from the old racks and members have said they have a much more natural feel. You probably didn't see them because they were put in later that night.

I definitely recommend you come try the new equipment out. We did not replace the benches with cardio; we received new cardio and strength equipment to replace outdated itmes. If you have any questions about the new equipment I strongly encourage you to find a staff member who can help you. Our trainer's name is Savanna and her schedule is posted at the front desk. She or any other staff member would be more than happy to help you out. Let me know if you have any other questions. You can always reach me at this email address, find me in the club, or call at (207) 773-7774. Thank you for being a loyal Planet Fitness member.

Lol I know DW and that's what I told them. For some reason smiths cause me shoulder pain why I don't know but they do. Simple as that. We will see how squatting goes without a smith and see if that feels better.

The more modern smiths do have a more natural motion but you need the free weights for stablization work if you ask me.
