After writing this article I am ready to throw away my pride and buy a trendy nalgene water bottle. BPA not only increases cortisol by driving 11b-HSD toward a reductase, but also directly agonizes cort receptors.

Have used BPA free for 4 years now.

Click on the link its in there. 1/3 the article is on hydration importance, and 2/3 are on the effects of BPA on fat gain and protein synthesis.
 
I've been using Nalgene going on almost 20 years. Basic wide mouth 1 liter. In that time Fran I am only on my second bottle. They last forever. I only went with the second bottle to get the BPA free one when they switched completely over.

I went straight to stainless steel klean kanteen style due to bpa a few years back...

The FDA does NOT see it as a potential threat lmao and there is no SUBSTANTIAL evidence proving it a cause for concern... But they think the supplement industry is the enemy.

BPA is unavoidable its in everything. Grocery bags, receipts, tupperware, straws EVERYTHING!

One of the biggest problems from what I've read is during transport of water bottles. If transported in hot climates warehouses etc the BPA is released into the water at extremely high rates.

Very true- think about hot food in cheap plastic to go containers :(

My professor actually didn't approve my idea so I can't do
It.. But I'm really trying tonstay away from plastic water bottles and straws- etc.

Is it THAT pronounced, The effect on hormones and protein synth?

I will hopefully be able to let you know with some primary research. No one has looked at its effects in skeletal muscle tissue; however, skeletal muscle does express 11b-HSD1, which appears to be more active in people with diabetes (converting more cortison to cortisol locally, thereby reducing insulin sensitivity and glucose uptake). My plan is to explore the effects of BPA in vitro and perhaps in mice if I have the time and funds.

be careful with that....new article came out regarding the health risks of drinking from stainless teel

I looked into what you were talking about and it looks like only insulated/double walled stainless steel drinking apparatus are worrisome. Unless, you have another resource?
