The Primordial Off-Season Adventure of Snags (V2.0 of course)

Just look at it as extra recovery and make the best of it.

exactly.
i'm due for some rest/recovery anyway, just dint want it to come in the middle of this program.
i'll get my workouts in, no fears..just gonna have to sleep less ;)

Hopefully with less in those areas you are rewarded with more in the way of cold hard cash!

Man I couldn't take a lot more activity right now... I am pretty beat most of the time.. I sleep good though and keep recovering...ahead of the curve. Extra work take a chunk sometimes, training early AM realy does help...

You will be able to make the adjustments I think, you're an expert in making good use of your time in the gym, intensify and shorten workouts less rest between sets etc... you'll find a way...

In my limited experience, throttling back (extra days rest, reduced intensity, volume, etc.) has never hindered my progress physically, only psychologically. Quite the contray, when I listen to my body and ignore my inccesant 'discipline' I tend to make surprising progress. That discipline that once was a positive force for good has at times taken on a life of it's own - a life that sometimes deprives me of balance, that in this season of my life, is more important than ever....FWIW :)

surely, guys.
balance is an important part of life..and, DD you are correct - it is more psychological than physical, the progress/frequency of training aspect.
altho i do have to say, i look/feel better when i am training more frequently, as opposed to cutting down activity immensely.
eh..not a big deal, in the grand scheme of things.
thanks for the reassurance. :)

couple pics of snag, in clothes after work.

Well stated.

okay, next training phase looks like this:

day #1 - lower body/rep scheme 1
day #2 - upper body/rep scheme 1
day #3 - lower body/rep scheme 2
day #4 - upper body/rep scheme 2
day #5 - lower body/rep scheme 3
day #6 - upper body/rep scheme 3
day #7 - rest
repeat

Lower Body Workout
A1) Deadlift
A2) Narrow Stance Squat
B) Calf Press

Upper Body Workout
A1) 30-degree Incline DB Bench Press
A2) Supinated Grip Pullups
B) Dips
Optional: Incline Bicep Curl and/or Standing DB Military Press
NOTE: Casually alternate between movements 1 and 2; do not superset.

The Rep Schemes
Scheme 1: 3 x 6-8 to absolute failure
Scheme 2: 6 x 4
Scheme 3: 2 x 10-12 to absolute failure
NOTE: While I’m not normally a proponent of training to failure, it is necessary when only
performing 2-3 work sets to ensure max stimulation. Mnetally fight for every last rep.

so, catching the training up-to-date:
FRI 9/28
day #1

SAT 9/29
day #2

SUN 9/30
day #3

Interesting set up, me likey.

very effective, keeps you mentally fresh.
and - WILL wear you down, believe me.
program changes again in 2 weeks..just hope i can keep up with the frequency, as it is important to maintain with the lowered volume of daily work in play.
if not, then i will change things up.

Do you have a trainer that sets this up for you Snag? Looks rather interesting.

no cel, i don't use trainers. i am a trainer lol.
but - you must've missed it.
while i usually use my own programs, i'm actually doing the Freak workout by Jon Doyle, who is a pretty renowned trainer.

I didn't know Snag sorry :(!! Seems like a high-paced and painful version of the Eric Broser workout (Rep-Range-Shock) , not bad bro :D!! I had to get my mind off from the Failure mindset :/ Idk if I could get back into it haha.

Curious to see how this treats yah brother :D!

man..my calves are lookin pretty gnarly today.
they'll never be symmetrical again (grade 3 tear in R one couple yrs back), but they're feelin pretty good & strong these days.

day #4 today, moving to rep scheme 2 on upper body.

felt good, used 115s thruout my 6 sets on incline DB bench..i think lugging them things up and down myself is more tiresome than the actual reps themselves..
oughtta make for some beefy forearms if done regularly for an extended period of time, LOL.

only downside is, my elbows been bothering me a bit lately....
:scared:

Downside to getting strong when using DBs for sure. Military presses are brutal with them. Not good about the elbow.

started bothering me couple weeks ago, thought it was tennis elbow at first - but then it crept into both elbows.
been getting steadily worse, now very tender on the inside part of the elbow.
no doubt it's from the DB - been a while since i slung around this heavy of weight, and i'm pushing hard right now....
not to the extreme of incapacitating yet, and if it continues i may just switch over to BB work for awhile.

I have had to use BB for awhile now because of a forearm tendonitis. Can't grip hard with my left had at all. Have not found any solution for it yet either and not lifting isn't an option. Lol

i think i got a lil bit of that forearm issue too.

something i'm used to tho, from my massive forehand smashes in tennis.. :D
lasts pretty much all tennis season LOL.

pics of the day.

which one looks better fellaz?

:p

i started TRS today..good times.

Gonna have to go with pic 2 but both look great!

yep... pic 2 ... :) much more clear

WED 10/3
day #6 in the schedule, upper body.
threw in some incline DB curls and DB standing military as well..

should've waited till today to post a pic - look pretty swole after a scheduled ~6500cal day yesterday..gained 2lb overnight.
:yup:

THUR 10/4
off

thanks for the feedback guyz! :sombrero:

i don't have nice photo capabilities like some ppl do. :stick:
outdated cam + taking pics of myself /=/ great quality.
your photos are pristine, brother.

haha.. thanks Snags !! Looking good man :)

thanks Doug.

last day of tennis for the yr..had a 78-degree day appear outta nowhere, before the cold front hits.
dint do too bad, but elbow sure wasn't comfortable..
i think i'll have some total down time very soon.

Snags you have made too much progress recently to decide too push through and hurt yourself. Take care of that elbow and that's an order! Maybe a week of body weight only stuff or no direct arm work and only iso work for shoulders chest and back. Hell you know as well as I do a week of posing practice would keep your progress and save those elbows.

Chris, you are absolutely right brother. money advice!
as much as i hate it, i been realizing i need to rest for a week or 10 days.
i really want to get thru this last 7 days of this part of training, but i need to listen to my body too..
it's been a good, rewarding road to this point, and i do not want to enter injury-land again this winter.

posing doesn't sound like a bad idea at all..nice. :)

pick of the back here before bed..damn i been making progress.

Back is looking freaky,as usual with you. Lol Quick question, do you have any suggestions for helping tendonitis like in your elbow? I know "rest is the best" but I'm looking for other options.

well, rest IS best bro.. :)
we are of the same mindset brother - i am not one to sit down because i ache a lil bit. injuries are a very tough and bitter pill for me to swallow.
when i have had these issues in the past, i turned to cissus q for speed of healing.
i also use medicated mineral oil (or, something like Tiger Balm) in a deep-tissue massage.
while these help, unfortunately - rest is the only certain option.

Unfortunately Cissus does nada for me. I've tried mega dosing it and still zip. I am looking at balms right now. I was recommended to give Skeletal Balm a shot and I will check out Tiger as well. I have a planned cruise coming up so hopefully it will all take care of itself. Thx

skeletal balm - never heard of it, but the name sounds cool as hell. :D
best to you my friend, and enjoy the cruise!

random..
so i'm watching tv last night, and i see the commercial for "hi protein special k" cereal.
i have to lqtm at mainstream advertising..and yes, while i realize 10g of protein per serving blows all the "regular" cereals out of the water, still....
since when is getting 10g of protein in at a feeding considered a "hi protein" meal???

In for high protein meals with Special K for Snag! :D

If that is high protein what would they consider a normal meal for the majority of people on this site.

Skeletal Balm is good stuff, but Blue-Emu is pretty much just as good and can be picked up at Krogers, Sam's Club and doesn't smell like pine-sol. Skeletal balm has kind of a pine-sol odor to it.

Oufinny uses a product now that he swears by try PM'ing him and he will tell you what it is. I can't remember the name. Bang for your buck Blue Emu us good stuff has MSM and Glucosomine, and many other ingredients in it along with the powerful anti-inflammatory effects of Emu Oil, which also doubles as part of the transdermal solution since it has excellent skin permeation and pulls the other ingredients into the body.

The biggest reason Cissus helps was for it's anti-inflammatory and anti-cortisol benefits. However it did not always work for everyone and for me it would dehydrate me and give forearm cramps at higher doses.

Yeah Skeletal Balm is a great name and really is a great product but Blue Emu doesn't small as said about and is cheaper so I could put it on 3 times a day for less money and get as good if not better results.

Just High Protein Cereal Sir to make it a high protein meal one must use 32 oz of skim milk per serving... The it is kind of like exercise chasing around the flakes in that big azz bowl of milk with a cereal spoon.

i am very happy with the last 5 weeks.
(other than the elbow deterioration that is ahahaa)

will attempt to work around it it for awhile..lower body day #1 this morning.

quick feedback on the first week of TRS -- have i said how much i LOOOOOVE this stuff??
awesome combination of compounds, exquisite quality.
this time around, i figured i'd try something different..rubbed some sustain alpha on my genitals as directions indicate you can..
just a lil bit. and - i'll be damned if it doesn't provide a lil boost to the machine! (pun fully erected errrr i mean, distended no wait not right either -- how bout intended)
TCF is great as well, just makes you feel gooooood.
seriously - this might just be my fav group of products from Primordial. hyooge thumbs up! :fing02:
