why do the majority of people recommend fish oil over flax?

hvactech

Legend
not meant for a debate, i use both, just wondering why everyone says to use fish oil....

Flax has the potential to have a negative effect on androgen levels. This makes fish oil the better choice IMO.

Krill baby!

I am about to start a stack with Erase / Anabeta / Formula-x so I was thinking about picking up some fish oil to help the joints; do you guys have a favorite brand? NP has Controlled Labs Fish Oil on sale right now but I wasnt sure how theirs stacks up against ther brands from cheaper places like Wal-Mart?

my dad takes this, and raves about its effect on his cholesterol and BP and all that jazz....but is it meant to REPLACE fish oil caps? also, if you take say 5 1,000mg fish oil caps....how many krill pills are the equivalent? confusing.

NP has their own bulk omega 3's and if you search around I believe there is a discount code. EDIT: (omega50) for 50% off
If you really want a joint supp better then omega 3, look into GLC2000

i use sam's fish oil and all flax usa...

flax has a low conversion rate to EPA and DHA..fish oil gas preformed EPA and DHA so no conversion necessary... plus there is some controversy over flax as said above.

The main goal of omega-3 supplementation is to get in key EFAs important to cell signaling, metabolism, and integrity. Another important goal is also to improve quality of life by trying to rebalance omega-3s to omega-6s in our bodies - both are important to the inflammatory response in our bodies, and our excess dietary omega-6s lead to prolonged and excessive states of inflammation that can lead to various chronic diseases. Omega-3s include EPA, DHA, and ALA, but the players key to the goals mentioned above are EPA and DHA. These are found in fish oil. Flax seed oil is predominantly ALA, and while ALA can convert in the body to EPA and DHA, this conversion is too minute, especially in males, to allow for significant EPA and DHA supplementation through any realistic dosing protocol using flax seed oil. Therefore, when choosing between flaxseed and fish oil, go for the fish oil.

flax would be greater for digestive purposes?

That code isn't working for me. I put their Omega-3 1000 Capsules in and it still rings up as $34.95. Can you check that code?

Because flax is a terrible source of EPA + DHA and there is no reason to add additional Omega 6 to your body

The grams of Omega 3 dont even matter. What matters is EPA + DHA amount, most people dont seem to understand this.

most fish oil caps have 300mg total of EPA/DHA content in total.
so 5 caps of 1000mg fish oil would potentially have 1500mg of EPA/DHA.

Oximega has 1200mg EPA + DHA per serving ;)

I wouldnt spend the extra money specifically for Flax unless I was vegan and my beliefs made Fishoil not an option.

Omega six is actually pro inflammatory. Don't want additional omega six without additional omega 3

for the purpose of using the rest of my flax seed, i would take fish oil along with it....then just continue with fish oil and skip flax seed all together....
