Getting off of the evil Ambien...supplement suggestions?

I am trying to kick the Ambien after 5 years of used. After reading about the side effects, I believe it is wrecking my health progress in the gym & out.
Been using melatonin for years on & off, but it just about useless to me by itself. Have run about 3 cycles of HGHup with little success of it helping with sleep. The one thing that did help was Somnidren GH, but the taste was horrendous (heard they improved taste now).

Anyone else been on this boat? Ideas?

the new AI Sports supp 3z was very solid for me when I tried the samples. A personal favorite is Nocturnabol and Valerian root. Out like a light and I stay out

5 years on ambien? damn, it lost effectiveness for me after 1st week.

Thought about trying phenibut, but I guess it's a use every once in a while type of supplement. Kicked Klonopin early this year after being on it for 5 years. Coming off of Ambien has not been a picnic either.

Congratulations on stopping the Ambien. I know it isn't easy, but this decision may literally save your life. There are some really great suggestions here. You may have to play around with a few and find what works best for you. Try and get some samples if you can and best of luck!

I quit Klonopin when I fell asleep on the expressway and totalled my car. **** messes with your sleep schedule so you're drowsy even when not taking it. I advise people to get a second opinion when their doctor mentions that drug.

yea, phenibut shouldnt be taken for too many weeks straight.....im on my first bottle, been using about 2 1/2 weeks gonna cycle off for a couple weeks in a few days.....

but i highly suggest checking out scivation knockout........could also look into controlled labs reduction pm *shots or pills*

hands down Phenibut is your best option for what you are looking for.

1-2 caps of SNS phenibut 2-3 times a week will help with sleep and possibly with some withdrawal symptoms from the ambien.

i would have to agree-mix in some gaba and you won't have to use as much phenibut, imo.

Dream tea from primordial performance works very effectively and subtley. Ive also recently had success with 5g of glycine + melatonin.

Ambien is evil indeed. Took it once, passed out, got up to take a leak several hours later and fell 4 times on the way to the restroom. Couldn't see straight and could barely think or focus. I thought to myself "What if there was a fire?" and never took it again.

Half a Benedryl tab with 3-9mg of melatonin is my go-to "poor man's Ambien".

Withdrawal from any drug that binds to your benzodiazepine receptors should not be done immediately! The dose should be tapered and you should stay away from anything that may be a stimulant. Benzos are no joke. Zolpidem is not a full on benzo, but can still have dangerous withdrawal effects. I have heard of valium being used to withdraw from Ambien due to it's longer half life. Since your history with kloni I don't know about that. Talk to your Dr. Good luck. Get help if it is too much.

N2sleep will most def help. I use it as a staple since i have trouble sleeping as well. I use it on a 5 days on 2 days off method like gymrat had suggested in one of his posts. But like he said, its not going to be ambien.

A few years back, I remember Abyss from Nimbus Nutrition. It was REALLY good at getting me to sleep fast and sound. Is that stuff even around anymore? I did enjoy it.

Was it the Ambien CR or regular? I had to switch to the regular ambien . It puts you to sleep but you can wake up a few hrs later ok. The CR made me groggy in the mornings.

.......Almost 4 years of using its benefits here:p

Phenibut is not only good for anxiety and sleep it has shown a lot of promise in helping withdrawal symptoms of many prescription drugs.

everyone is different however for myself I stick to 2-3 times a week with regards to phenibut use.

perhaps 2 caps one day and 1-2 caps the other 1-2 days. it is strong stuff so more is def not better.

It really thought the Klonopin affected my libido & drive. I tapered off Klonopin by using l-theanine. It worked ok, but now I have screaming tinitus in my left ear, which I found is common with coming off Klonopin. Not sure which is worse for you, the Ambien or Klonopin.

I've been taking Ambien for the last few weeks almost every night. I've also taken it every so often over the last few years.

I have not experienced any side effects that are worse than sleep deprivation. Sure maybe a little groggy in the morning but I'll take it any day over a sleepless night.

What are these side effects that you're having?

I'm not trying to convince you to stay on ambien but there may be something else that's hurting your workout results. I've been searching for an effective alternative to ambien and have not found anything that consistently puts me to sleep.

I hope it's out there but i'll be damned if I haven't blown a lot of money on supplements that are just sitting in a box.

ZMA 30 mins before bed. It's helped me out a lot. I feel like it just regulates your body's natural sleep cycles. No grogginess like melatonin gave me. If you're having trouble with anxiety due to withdrawals try taking 500mg of Niacin (B3). I suggested that to my girlfriend and when she started taking it she straight up forgot to take her xanax... all day. It's a wonderful mood stabilizer and it's natural.
