SilentBob's (no-drama) chatroom

I recall watching something on either the History or discovery channels about how loud noises and acute pain/voilence (i.e. a big ol' slap on the back, etc.) activate a certain part of the brain. They were saying that's why sports teams will cheer and hit each other on the benches to get "pumped up" before a sporting event. Heavy metal, with the yelling, loud noises, and oftentimes the subject matter within the song, seems like a perfect compliment to work out with. The Mastodon song in Silent B's siggy is probably a good example of this: yelling, loud noises and "white whale holy grail" being a metaphore for overcoming challenges and adversity.

Gets me amped, every time!

This one usually does a good job of getting me amped. I like the slow riff at about 45 seconds in.

F*ck everything about this.

Robert E. Howard, Arnold, John Milius, hell even James Earl Jones should all be pissed off over this atrocious remake of the classic.

Ooooo sh*tty generic 'movie metal' in the trailer, it's gotta be badass. Conan needs to forget about the riddle of steel and get on that damn riddle of milk and dbol. Jeebus! It's like Prince of Persia meets Clash of the Titans meets an extra from 300 as the lead. :aargh:

I'm seriously upset over this. I'd seen the pictures awhile ago and thought, yeah not-big wuss playing Conan. I see this on TV and put on my f*cking rage face. SPLIT YOUR LUNGS WITH BLOOD AND THUNDER OVER THIS SH*T!! :aargh: :aargh:

Isn't that the guy from Game of Thrones? Geez, he finally gets a lead role, and he's already typecast.

I was excited about this movie, up until I finally saw the trailer of it. Why did they cast the Great Kahli as Conan??? Meh.

The dude was also in one of those Stargate series as well. Atlantis IIRC.

..checking IMDB.com....

You are correct, sir. Also in the portfolio.... Baywatch?

Dude looked way more jacked in the Game of Thrones series, than in that trailer. I'm wondering if they made him lose weight for the role, and whether or not that was a good idea. Also, the special effects look crappy for 2011 technology, but I am not a fan of CGI.

I was more impressed with the effects from watching Roger Rabbit last night than I was from the effects seen in this trailer. :28:

I've already raged about this in another thread over a month ago. You are so right, herr Bob!! This sucks big ol' donkey balls.
Picking a friggin' ballerina to play the moody Cimmerian is ridiculous and downright profane. It's blasphemy.......that's what it is.

My right arm is bigger than this mutha-fugga.:saevil:

I'm thundering to the highest boughs of Yggdrasil as I type this!! :aargh: :hammer:

I still think the dude looks like the great kahli, only smaller.

Productive day at the new place. I picked up a lamp and a fan over the weekend. Installed the ceiling fan tonight after leg day. Didn't even electrocute myself, woo!! And with that gentlemen, my living room is ready for entertaining.

I love lamp.

I made a lamp once. It was mostly wood - some dowel rods and such - burned and then clearcoated. It had nails driven through the top and bottom of it. The shade was made from wire from coat hangers and some red cloth I had cut into triangular strips and tied onto the wire. It looked like a medieval torture device and I loved it! Others did, too. Only bad part was dusting it... kinda tough with all the 6" nails stuck everywhere! :D

I made a paper mache brontosaurus once in 4th grade. That is about the extent of my carpentry skills.

I made a lamp out an ex-girlfriend. She always knew how to brighten up the day.

(too creepy?)

For some reason theres an ad for LampsPlus.com flashing under my reply box...I dont see any human flesh lamps though. They do have free shipping!

All this talk about lamps is getting me lit up

Crazy weekend. What you guys getting into for the 4th?

I had my BBQ yesterday, so today going to the movies to watch some robots kill each other.

I take the GRE tomorrow I am nervous, but at the sametime just want to get it over with. Hopefully I'll score okay on it. Me and standardized tests + epic fail

I meant = epic fail. Wow failed at that, not a good sign!

Did you do any prep for it? What kind of grad program are you wanting to go into? Generally, scores in the 1000 mark are considered good. Most programs accept a little lower, some like them high. As long as you hit around that number you should be good to go, depending on what your wanting to study. Good luck on that exam, man. The only advice I would give you is to go back through your middle school and high school math content. They have some pretty crazy questions that were based on stuff I learned in Junior High, not college. lol threw me for a loop the first time I saw it i.e. if train A leaves x at y and train B leaves y at z, then train A would meet train B at xy.....

Thanks man, Ya i got the ETS book. I did 80% of it and I can't take anymore. I am looking into PT school I have a high GPA but for some reason standardized tests aren't my thing. 1000 would be awesome, but realistically I'd be happy with 900. I see it this way, if a school rejects me for a standardized test then I don't want to go there anyway. Not justifying I paid my dues, but I feel like this isn't a good indicator of discipline, willingness to succeed and prosper. Is it generally easier then the practice exams or equally as hard?

Is it bad that the only thing I have to look forward to tomorrow is Word Association Wednesday on my FB wall? This week is kinda suckin.

It's generally a little more complex then the practice exams, but most test are in that sense. PT schools usually shoot for students that score in the 1000 - 1500 range, so if you get upper 900's you should be good for most. I know a lot of grad schools will not even look at you if you don't meet the minimum score allowance that they somehow magically set as if it's the end all be all of a students predictive success in a given program. So I'm in complete agreement with you on that front. If you've studied 80% of the manuals then you should hit the 900's at a minimum, if not, don't get discouraged. A lot of students take that dam exam 3-4 times. You will be surprised at how different the test seems when you take it a second time. There's something about knowing what your going into that makes it seem a little bit easier. So if your unhappy with your first attempt score, take it again. All grad schools take the test with the highest scores, regardless of how many times you take it FYI

Thanks man! Yes I got in the upper 900's just short of 1000 which would have been awesome! I did EXTREMELY well in math, but with that said it means that I did EXTREMELY POOR in vocabulary. These words were insane like chary, Usury, cogent, teem and a few others. Oh well not bad I guess I am glad to be done with it! No sense in taking it over, I don't want to feed the Government anymore money, I am a college student I have more important things to buy like protein ;)

Truer words couldn't be written by Walter Cronkite himself.

Nice to hear it all worked out for you man. Congrats and good luck on the grad school admissions.

My bad T, still haven't hooked up internet at the new place and I'm in the middle of an eleven day stretch at work so I don't expect I'll have time to get a guy out there soon.

What's new with you? Were you looking at getting a new bike? Was that why there were so many in your yard last week?

I picked up a weight tree from a local fitness equipment place for $30 bucks.

Cybex Commercial line, good sh*t.

I'll say it again too, 30 bucks.

Also, after sweep up all the concrete dust and sh*t in my basement it all decided to congregate in my ear and form a super earplug of wax and concrete. I woke up Thursday morning and couldn't hear out of my right ear! FFFFFFUUUUUU!!!!!

Luckily the doctor did some peroxide and an ear wash for me and it came out. F*cker was in in there and big too, it was a 3/4" plug. DAMN!

Any of your jokers got Google+ yet? I'm on there now and it's like a ghost town. Hit me up if you want an invite/wanna join a circle or something.
