Cable or Direct TV

I am with Comcast. I like, but it is expensive. I have basic cable and internet running at 16mbs and i am paying 130 a month.

Anybody convert from Comcast to Direct TV,Dish,Qwest...etc, for a better deal.

The most important thing to me is the internet, but like others this could be why it is so expensive.

Cable - Atlantic Broadband. I think we're up to about $190/month for highspeed, digital cable, HD, and DVR service. No premo channels other than starz & encore.

I tried directv for a while and liked it for a while. However, if there is a storm=no tv. Not good considering how much I paid

I'm starting to think there is no cheap. Premium service=premium price.
ditto. Ever since I got an HDTV, I almost refuse to watch "regular" TV anymore (exception of NickJr for my daughter!). So I basically pay almost 200 each month to watch all of may 5 channels and have internet service. Ugh...

I had Direct, they refused to update my recievers to HD(after 12 years of paying their sorry a$$) so I switch to Dish. They provided 4 HD recievers and 1 reg. I pay right at 80 a month with no movie channels. Dish is worse than Direct when it comes to cloud cover though.

I just rid myself of cable for good... I refuse to patronize my local cable company. They were rude to my wife and their **** sucks. I love my new DirectTV, went through a 10inch thundersnow here in STL without a hiccup on service. And I love that I do not have to worry about tuning to a separate channel to get HD, if the show is in HD, I get the HD signal, no flipping to 700.

For my internet, I switched to CLEAR 4G and get uninterrupted 8M.

I get everything for 100 per month for a year, then 125 thereafter. And that is 1 HD+DVR receiver, and 2 HD receivers... the thing that sold me was the whole home DVR.

I would still be with U-Verse as I loved that, but my new house doesnt have the service yet.

I do perfer Direct but they wanted $100 per reciever to upgrade to HD.

I have an 3 myself (one being a DVR+HD) all for a hundred bucks. I might have had a problem with it if all the other equipment wasnt free.

But I hear what you are saying.

My big thing was I wasn't going to stay chained to a content provider that was rude to my wife. The minute she told me they were rude, I brought my cable boxes to the office down the street and told them to disconnect my ****. I cannot stand when people are rude to customers.

I was with Direct TV/AT&T for 9 years up until a few months ago when i switched (TV/phone/internet) to comcast~~~~I wish i would have done it a few years earlier:)

Oh God.. I had comcast while in Biloxi MS, and they were even worse than charter (The local). They throttled your internet back to 2M if you used to much within a 2 hour period.

direct tv for me. its cheap and i dont need internet that goes 2mb/second. plus all the channels i get are amazing. it is true about the storms but only sometimes it will go out but its back on after like 3min cuz it searches for the signal. comcast cable was ok but they jacked the prices up like crazy and im cheap
