My Son in the Gym with me :)

posted this in one of my logs- but i'm so proud i wanna dedicate a new thread to this:

a few days ago was the 1st day i got to train with my 12 year old son in the gym! he just turned 12, and he's been chompin' at the bit to get in the gym. he's currently playing rugby (he practically begged me to play rugby after football season ended to mainly work on his proper tackling and ball-handling skills. the kid has motiviation i've never seen in a 12 yr old boy!)-

just in 6th grade and already at 5'7 and 155lbs (lean and strong too, this kid stretched out nice!) he's dead set on being a force on his pop warner football team this upcoming season. since he's leaned out he wants to get his hands on the ball more, instead of being solely a defensive player (LB/end). he will definitely be one of the biggest and strongest kids on the squad... and he still has 3 years until freshman ball!!

i'm so proud. :silly::08:

That's awesome.

congrats. I the guys on the mens rugby team I play with dont have that much enthusiasm.

Just get your kid to smarten up, and drop football. Rugby is where its at! :P

haha... what's crazy is Rugby is pretty new to this area (SoCal/San Diego) but clubs are sprouting up everywhere!!!

thats awesome man. My 7 year old daughter is forever in my basement gym with me. She is constantly trying to do pullups. Nothing better my friend

That's awesome! My son just turned 12 as well and he's getting a gym membership. He's been wanting to hit the gym with me for some time.

damn, that's good capn'...

how's the kid's diet? You feeding him like a machine?

let me put it this way:

i may have to get a 2nd job just to feed him. :censored:

in all seriousness, he's EASY. he actually has never been into sweets and junk food, and never got into soda because his mom and I never let him drink soda from the get-go... the kid loves water and milk.

he basically eats everything i do, but he also gets pb&j and waffles and french toast.. all that good stuff that i stay away from ;)

man, i think its soo cool how proud of him you are. i would kill to hear my dad talk about me like this. I dont even know you and i think your a great father. i hope you enjoy lifting with him and i am very happy for you.

lol I hear ya..my dad was the type of guy who would fist fight me if I wanted seconds and would always tell me I could never be stronger than him haha....although in all honesty he is the reason I started lifting weights...just so I could kick his ass. :firedevil: It's going to be different with my boy..i'll be way more supportive...Weight training all year with periods of hunting and fishing. All the chow he can maow.. I can't wait.I need a spotter in the house that weighs over 105 pound lol! :slaphappy:

thanks man, that means alot. i appreciate the good word.

I kinda want a kid just so I can workout with him lol

Nice it almost makes me want a kid hearing about all this talk lol. But I would be too worried I would have a daughter and ya no thank u.

If he wants to improve on his tackling and all get him into wrestling if possible. That sport just give u that toughness to do anything. Plus it doesnt conflict with the football season in HS.
