Ebay auction opinions needed

Do you guys think it`s better(for the seller) to list things with a low starting bid and a reserve? low starting bid and no reserve and take your chances? Opening bid you will bw happy with and see if it goes up? Or just a Buy It Now and it sells or doesn`t?

Also, as a buyer, which are you more inclined to purchase?
The reason is I have way too many cycles squirreled away than I can possibly use but some I have full value into and don`t want to take a mojor $$ hit on.
Opinions please.

Something unique or rare, go the auction man.

Something pretty common go buy it now. Personally I don't **** about with auctions if you're only talking a buck or two's difference from the buy it now price. Way too busy to give a **** wasting me time over a couple of dollars.

That's my 5 cents.

That`s just it. Just about all that I`m listing id going away Jan 4th. But I`m sure a LOT of people will be listing these very same things. I have seen Phera go gor $15. I`ve also seen it go for $35.
I`m not looking to rape anyone nor am I looking to give stuff away. Just trying to get $$ back and MAYBE make a few $$ do to supply and demand. Thanks for your opinion.
Anyone else?

pretty much agreed.

If the item is common, then free market will dictate price. Use buy it now price or auction style.

With BIN, you give the buyer the option of immediate gratification and the ability to receive the item sooner. I believe the seller fees are a bit more for the BIN option.

Auction style you give the bidder a shot to get it cheaper, or compete for the auction. I have seen auction style auctions go for more than the BIN for the same item.

But, if you have an uncommon or rare item where demand could very high, go auction style.

If you must have a certain amount of cash for it, use the reserve price function.

Ebay is pretty straightforward. If you have any questions the help section is actually decent.

I`m very familiar with ebay. I sell cds and guitars all the time. I was just trying to get a handle on guys like us and "supplements". Spawn sells for $90+ while Cynostane won`t reach $30. Do I post Spawn at $99 BIN? Do I start Cyno at $1 and hope for the best?

Me too, been there for nearly 10 years.

spawn doesnt sell for 99 anymore. there unloading it like hot cakes right now. I bet in the coming weeks it can be had for < 50.

I have sold alot of cyno already for 45-50 dollars shipped.

Try it. Worst case, set a reserve. Reserve fee's of course.

I guess I just have to start listing and feel it out. Thanks for the comments.

I currenly have items listed on ebay and I have a starting price of around what similar items are going for and then a buy it now price...if I were to do an auction style I would def go with a reserve so i will not short myself in the end...good luck!

I just listed a few to test the waters.

I guess there is some interest. 6 auctions with a total of 34 watchers. Only been listed a few hours. No bids yet though.

damn...good sheit...!!...i have a few items on there myself but only 3 watchers...

guess i have to hold out or reduce price...

I start the auction price around what I want it to sell for. I sell Ps3's on there and list them for about 20 dollars more than what I originally paid. The market makes them go up because I get them so cheap, just depends on what you sell, shipping options and such.

I've sold sh!t on both and both were better than ebay. You're only gonna sell it on ebay if it's dirt cheap, or a collectible. Frankly, I've had some of the best luck on craigslist.

I live a rural area.

So I get Jed Clampett and Elly Mae trying to trade me a mule, skidloader and chickens.

craigslist has its pro's, but definately has its cons.

Last guy I dealt with sounded just like Carl from Slingblade. I swear on the bible.

I laughed my ass of when i played the voicemail.

At least he wasn't some weirdo trying to hold you down and make you squeal like a pig. Thank god for small blessings! But, yeah I can see where location could make a huge difference.
