Nuclear weapons aren't exactly simple, even if you could get your hands on the raw materials. Building and smuggling that kind of thing is a far cry from taking a plane that's already there and crashing it into a building. A bunch of guys living in caves are not going to be able to get 7 working nukes into the country and set them off, that's ridiculous.

I would have thought the same thing about 4 planes being hijacked and flown into buildings if you asked me 10 years ago. Hate is a very powerful emotion. If you are taught it from birth, it`s all you know. An entire religion HATES us. Now THAT is scary. Actually not an ENTIRE religion, but agood portion of it.
 
I think it is a very serious threat. In Afghanistan, they are holding out until we leave to regroup. The thing that scares me is the private support they get from supporters all over the Muslim world. There is enough money and brainpower amongst their supporters to do this if they were to get the logistics of it together. I believe we would be able to detect and eradicate such a plot as long as we don't sit on the intelligence. For all we know, there is a covert war on terror in addition to the one we see on the news for just this reason.

Nuclear weapons are not that complicated. The problem is obtaining the materials refined enough to make a nuclear weapon. Hence all the talk of nuclear enrichment facilities. The only reason we were the first to create a nuclear weapon is we were the first to create enough enriched material to create the weapons. This was achieved at Oak Ridge, TN. Enrichment is a long and complicated process. If the material is not refined or enriched, all you have is a radioactive (dirty) bomb.

N Korea has already accomplished the enrichment process and Iran is close thanks to Russia. Do you think a country as poor as N Korea wouldn't sell some enriched material to some extremely oil rich guys (Osama). Especially if it was going to possibly crush their worst enemy (US).

Also, if people can get coke and other drugs into the country, why can't they smuggle this type of stuff?

over a million people cross the mexico/us border illegally a year. I think a few dirty suitcase bombs being moved by suicide volunteers would be easy. keep them fairly doped up on potassium iodide and it would take a while for the radiation to kill them. no you won't get hiroshima grade explosions, but you will give hundreds of thousands radiation posioning. Set one off in a sports stadium or any of a number of other places, and you'll get a lot of tragedy.
 
Hopefully when they go about trying to nuke us a little something like this happens. . . .

Many would like the Navy to use them for target practice, however the crying liberals over here insist on rounding them up and placing them in offshore concentration camps.

With most being from mexico, it would be easy for us to just ship them back, but we can't even do that. by managing to cross an invisible line illegally they somehow got granted a right to stay?

Heck, obama's aunt has been living in public housing, collecting government money for years while she's been an illegal alien and nobody can figure out how?

Of course. It was the CIA. Or, was it the Israelis? There must have been engineers sneeking into the WTC nightly for months, planting explosive devices throughout the buildings. Yet, no one ever noticed, and everything was perfectrly coordinated with the hijackings.

Not if you include both the active participants and those that sympathize with them. You could be looking at north of 10%. Then, you're talking in excess of 100 million people.
That would be pretty friggin disproportionate compared to other religions.

however, I was responding to the statement about a high precentage, which is incorrect. We must understand the size of the religion in terms of populace, therefore it is a small percentage.

We are really splitting hairs here.
 
Not really. It would be interesting to see what the % is of extremists among other religions. You also have to have a consistent definition of what an extremist is. If you look at the life that muhammed actually led, it's not hard to see how some of his followers could have the views and carry out the acts that they do. Muhammed himself was a warlord and a tyrrant.

the same could be said for Moses as well, so with that in mind, it does truly show how subjective the idea of extremist could be.

The teachings of Muhammad are in now way indicative of an extremist.

the aborigines are small in number and steadily knocking themselves out with solvant abuse. They have little political or religious angle, just out for a handout. Most can live with that.

I saw some douchebag interviewing Howard on the BBC. The douche that was interviewing him was basically accusing him of being a racist by saying that "If you want Islamic law, move to Saudi Arabia." He accused him of being anti-immigrant. When Howard mentioned how the economy was booming under his admin, of course the dipsh!t interviewer said "Sure, and you turned Austrailia into one of the dirtiest asian nations in terms of greenhouse emissions!" It was almost comical. Basically, if you're not a libby, you can't do anything right. Economic prosperity = destroying the environment. Refusing to allow one group to impose their will on the rest of the country = anti-immigration.
