The December 885

That's crazy for your weight dude, good work.

Max Squat Day

Tonight was max squat day.

Here's what happened:
Warmup: Stretch, 135x8, 185x5, 225x3

Equipment used: Belt, Rehband Knee Sleeves

Max lifts:
275 (Got it, easy)
285 (Got it, easy; missed this weight several weeks ago)
300 (Got it, slightly less easy) +15lb PR
315 (Miss*)
*Went down, and right as soon as i started going up, i leaned forward so my spotter had to pull me back. After this, though, I'm fairly certain I got the rep without any help. Still counting it as a miss.

Cool down with some stretching and rolling out.

Weight (no shoes) at end of W/O: 147.05

-------
I'm fairly happy with how things went today. I'm right about where I want to be with squats, and I'm confident that I can hit 315 at the comp. It'll be a 15lb meet PR using the Rehband knee sleeves. The last time I hit 315 was using knee wraps, which would make me an equipped lifter.

You are very fortunate to train with a power lifting team

Pretty exclusive club for people at your weight man. Good luck!

thanks dood, gonna give it my all

diet was absolutely terrible yesterday...2 pieces of cinnamon toast, two chicken quesadillas from TB, and a big bowl of ice cream is all i ate yesterday.

weighed in this morning with my stomach growling (and after a trip to the bathroom) at 144

Max Deadlift Day

deadlifted tonight, instead of benching.

anyway here's how it went.

warmup:
stretch, 135x10, 225x5, 275x2

Max Lifts:
315 (Got it)
355 (+20lb PR! Got it)
375 (Totally missed it, couldn't even get the weight off the ground)
Not really very happy with this turn of events. I would've been able to live with getting the weight halfway and then failing, but not being able to get the weight off the ground is pretty saddening.

Rolled out, did some pullups, weighed in at 148.05 and left.

Friday'll be max bench day

355 though man, holy crap that's pretty f*cking awesome. 375 is just something to work for that much more now. I know you got it.

With two days down, the totals are as thus:

Squat: 300
Deadlift: 355

Now, I'm pretty confident that I can hit at least 305 on squat, if not the full 315 that i'm shooting for.

What this means for bench is that I have to hit 225 in order to qualify for Nationals. After a pretty bad day for deadlifts, my confidence in my bench is shaken, so I'm going to relax the next few days, forget about today and go in on Friday with the mindset that I'm going to rock the gym.

thanks SB. that vote of confidence is something that i really needed to hear after missing the lift. i'll make sure i don't disappoint at the meet.

You call getting a PR "bad"? LOL Anyways, awesome on getting the PR. We all have days we don't consider that great re training; like you said, let it fly and focus on making your next one awesome.

Max Bench Day

tonight's workout:

this was an interesting one

warmup: stretching, bar x 10, 135x5, 175x4

Max Lifts:
205 (Got it, pretty easy)
225 (Missed it, felt like I almost had it)
225 (Again, missed it, did worse than the rep before)
215 (Got it, for some reason, felt easier than 205. I did use a slightly wider grip)

At this point, I was feeling rather inspired, so I decided to take another shot at 225. I used the same slightly wider grip that I had for the 215 rep.

225 (Got it) +10lb PR!!!!!!

TWO PLATE CLUB :woohoo:
This rep was a touch and go, probably didn't pause long enough for it to count in competition, but nonetheless, it wasn't a bounce, which makes me very happy!

No scale at the gym today, but i'm guessing i'm around 145ish.

alrighty. here's how it all comes together.

In order to qualify for nationals at the 148lb Weight Class, I need a combined total of 885lbs between Squat, Bench, and Deadlift.

Here's how I did at the previous competition (in April)
Squat:
255 Good
275 Good
315 Fail

Bench:
185 Good
210 Fail
210 Good

Deadlift
275 Good
300 Good
330 Good

Total: 275 + 210 + 330 = 815lbs; 70lbs short of National Qualifiers.

For the upcoming competition, I'm going to open with these:

Squat: 305
Bench: 215
Deadlift: 335

I'm confident I can hit these with relative ease. And I'll only need to add 30lbs between them to qualify and reach 885. I'm excited.

Nice bro!! Your lifts are ridiculous bro!

workin out at home this week, and the stuff i have at home is pretty limited.

the squat arm on the home gym system doesn't go low enough so i was forced to do hack squats today

hack squats:
3 sets, 10 reps up to 160ish (even the weights on this thing are oddly numbered)

leg extensions:
3 sets, 10 reps

leg curls
3 sets, 10 reps

increased the weight on each set, but it was still fairly easy each time. still restin up for the big meet.

Hacks are good sh1t man.

Hacks are good sh1t man.

indeed they are.

all this week has been just real light lift, partially because i have family in town and have been spending a fair amount with them.

anyway, the 2x prime and Free AP came today, and i took stock of what i have. 3x Prime (800mg dosage), 2x AP, 1x PowerFULL. I have partial bottles of Prime and AP back at school too (Gotta love Black Friday deals :32: )

after the comp, i'll be running these, along with some extend and vasocharge.

That sounds like it'll be a fun few months after the meet.

oh man, i am so excited. still haven't figured out when i'm going to start the stack with the holidays coming up soon after the meet where i won't be able to lift for about 4 days. all of my attention is focused on this meet at the moment.

weighed in at 140.6 this morning. That's down about 5 pounds from a week and a half ago. at this point i'm a little worried that i won't be able to hit my openers...but then again, i don't know if the 5 lbs lost were from food stores or water weight or fat stores or muscle stores. I know that the body usually uses muscle as a last resort for food, so i'm pretty sure it's not that.

i might try hitting my openers tonight and tomorrow and then coast the rest of the week until the comp.

well, yesterday was the last day of drive. It's been a great run, definitely feel like it's helped in some way to put me in a great position for this comp on saturday. my only complaint with it is that I always cringe at the smell of it. It's weird, I know, but for some reason the smell of it (maybe the caps?) always makes me cringe, and sometimes, it'll make my stomach feel just weird enough that I'm not all that hungry in the morning. It's really only an issue in the morning -- the evening dose, I have no problem. I'm still gonna be dosing NeoVar, which is set to run out close after the comp.

I'm just gonna have some faith in the past 10 or so weeks of training and just coast this week for the comp.

don't hit your openers tonight. you didn't lose 5 lbs of muscle. Its just water/glycogen weight. Don't worry. cruise this week and focus on the comp. If you are worried then lower your openers a bit for the competition.
Remember when on Sheiko the last 2-3 weeks are all deload so you will be fine.

LOL, that is probably the Icariin in it. The Forslean can also cause some nausea.

Glad to hear that you have enjoyed your run of Drive.

All the best for your competition, Tyler.

IRON LION OPEN 2009

Well the Iron Lion was yesterday; I was there from 8:30am to 10:30pm, so it was a long day. There were two sections, and I lifted in the morning section.

I should point out that I had the qualifying totals wrong -- in order to qualify for nationals at my weight class, I would have had to total 1025lbs, not 885. BUT, breaking 885 was my original goal, so that hasn't changed.

Everything at the meet was done in Kg, and I lifted RAW -- just a singlet, a belt, neoprene knee sleeves ( I used Rehbands ), and wrist wraps. No bench shirt, no squat or deadlift suit.

I weighed in at 64.0 kg (141.1 lbs)

First up was squat:
1st Attempt: 135 kilograms = 297.624054 pounds GOT IT!!!
2nd Attempt: 140 kilograms = 308.647167 pounds GOT IT!!! (+3.65 lb PR)
3rd Attempt: 145 kilograms = 319.67028 pounds MISSED IT
Best Squat: 140 kg

Next up was Bench:
1st Attempt: 90 kilograms = 198.416036 pounds GOT IT!!!
2nd Attempt: 97.5 kilograms = 214.950706 pounds GOT IT!!!
3rd Attempt: 105 kilograms = 231.485375 pounds GOT IT!!! (+15 lb rest-on-chest PR, +5 lb overall PR)
Best Bench: 105 kg
Subtotal: 245 kg (540 pounds)

Next up was Deadlift:
1st Attempt: 145 kilograms = 319.67028 pounds GOT IT!!!
2nd Attempt: 162.5 kilograms = 358.251176 pounds GOT IT!!! (+3.25 lb PR)
3rd Attempt: 167.5 kilograms = 369.274289 pounds GOT IT!!! (+15 lb PR)
Best Deadlift: 167.5
Subtotal: 412.5 kg = 909.406832 pounds

Yesterday was a very pleasing day. Not only did I accomplish my short term goal of breaking 885, I also accomplished a future goal of breaking 900.

Next up, I'll (hopefully) be doing a 10 week or so Prime run, stacked with AP, PowerFULL, Xtend, and Vasocharge, with NeoVar ending about 3 or 4 days in, and probably taking some joint support here and there. I haven't worked out all the details yet, but these next few weeks will be carrying me to my next goal: JOINING THE 1,000 POUND CLUB!!!!!!!

awesome man! You have accomplished so much man! You gotta be very proud!

HELLS YEAH ORBY!!!

Tyler go update your log fool!

Thanks, Rosie. But Inarius is Tyler. I'm Ryan. lol :stooges:

Sorry, Ryan. For some reason when I wrote that I was thinking this was Tyler's log (starting to space already and only been 3 days low carbs, LOL; not cool). My apologies. That was an awesome meet, though, RYAN! :)

gonna be takin it easy the rest of this week, and i'll be starting a new 5/3/1 log next week, with Prime, AP, PowerFULL, Xtend and Vasocharge backin me up as I quest for a 1,000 lb total.
